Things I love about your videos: 1. You are always pleasant and informative but also efficient - you get right into the technique without ten minutes of needless chitchat at the beginning. 2. The techniques are always filmed in a very clear way that shows exactly what we need to do. 3. You use your great depth of knitting knowledge to let us know exactly what the technique is good for, what the alternatives are, and any little tweaks that will give a better result. 4. If I don’t have time to watch a video, I can also use the matching photo tutorial on your website and it will also show me exactly what I need. 5. You seem like a very nice person. Thank you so much for sharing these!
Oh my, if it wasn't for you I would be running to my very elderly neighbour to show me these new things I do not know. You are my knitting angel... ...thank you so much. ❤
A huge thank you for this alternative method! Your tutorials have all been an enormous help to me. ( You also have a lovely accent. A pleasure to listen to you.)
I had to do the p2 tog tbl years ago and it was so difficult, nearly impossible. So much easier after viewing your tutorial. And the trick at the end was ingenious. Thank you
Thank you, Norman! I learn so much from you! Your videos are very clear and practical. (though I can’t seem to master continental yet). From Denver, Colorado!
I just came across this,. Because I have a Knit Afghan that I'm doing ,. And the instructions called to do a P2 tog,. tbl. I wasn't sure what they meant.. 🤦🫣 thank you so much for explaining it..😁🙂😊☺️🙂👍 your and awesome teacher.. happy Knitting..
I tried the hack way of doing the p2togtnl, and I'm glad can learn it because it's easier. I'm glad I know both ways. But for me, it's easier to do the short cut way. Takes less time and I don't have to twist my wrists etc. Thank you for teaching both instructions. Very helpful.
Using 35mm straight needles, there's a lot more contorting involved. I use a finer point cable needle to transfer and twist the two purl stitches then purl them together in the normal fashion. Thank you for the tip on loosening the stitches first.
Thank you so much!! I watched another video and couldn't get this but they were holding the yarn in the right hand. I think their hand blocked the movement too much for me to get it. When I watched your video I realized I was trying to do it wrong and I didn't end up needing the alternative method. I'll remember that for the future, just in case. Thanks a bunch!
Thank you for these clear instructions. I prefer the alternate version because I simply cannot work the original P2tog tbl. My right hand and fingers aren't as nimble as they used to be. Learning the alternate version has enabled me to make the Daffodil Lace Scarf free pattern by Purl Soho, because P2tog tbl is used in that pattern.
Happy to hear that. And I sometimes use alternative versions as well. That's nothing you need an excuse for. In fact, only bullies try to breach the wall head first. Smart ppl, go around 🤣
Thank you for including the alternative stitch! 🙏 I will probably never p2tog tbl knowing I can just slip the second stitch over the purl 🤦🏻♀️ why would you need to?
Hi there! I learned how to knit recently and my favorite way to purl is the norwegian way , do you think you can show us how to do all the purl alternatives like the p2togbl in norwegian style too please ? thank you i love your videos they help me learn and relax.
Ok, I tried both methods and I find the psso easier but I understand why one would like that the P2t tbl convenient. I am knitting a cardigan and the right facing decrease is a sl1, k1, psso. I thought the 2nd version you showed will look more like the right facing decrease. This cardigan is very demanding of my brain because I have not had to reverse shaping before ( I’m still a fairly new knitter). All my sweaters have been in the round, however I like learning new things and your videos are so clear and concise… I appreciate that. Thank you. Let me know if you think I’m deciding correctly.
Why are so many other knitters turning the stitches before purling them togtbl ? (if it's not necessary)? I've seen a lot of videos where this is done.
well...a lot of people find that certain techniques are a bit to odifficult and add steps to make it easier. i can't comment on that really. you'd have to ask them.
I am sorry. This was one of my very first videos and I was still trying to find my groove. You can switch it off anytime. Or click on the first link in the description to access the same tutorial in written form with pictures.
Hmm...do check the quality you are watching in the settings This is a 4k video. While certainly not perfect in every way, it really shouldn't be fuzzy.

Your elderly neighbor sounds like a treasure! I hope you sometimes go over anyway and knit with them… it probably makes their day!
A huge thank you for this alternative method! Your tutorials have all been an enormous help to me. ( You also have a lovely accent. A pleasure to listen to you.)
Thank you so much for the slip stitch alternative. I nearly dropped more than one stitch attempting the "through the back loop" way.
Thank you for the slip stitch alternative . Much easier on my old hands. 😆🙏🏻❤️
I had to do the p2 tog tbl years ago and it was so difficult, nearly impossible. So much easier after viewing your tutorial. And the trick at the end was ingenious. Thank you
very happy to hear I could help yuo along!. And I agree, it can be quite impossible to knit the regular way.
Thank you so much for the alternative method. Works so much better for me!
Got all messed up trying to remember how to do this stitch. I like that I can quickly use your site as a reference.
Thank you for posting this very helpful video. You helped me to finish one of my first lace projects
Awesome!! 😎
Love ❤ your easy way to P2togtbl. SO much easier!
Much prefer second method. Struggled the other way for years. Thanks for the tip. 👍
Thank you, Norman! I learn so much from you! Your videos are very clear and practical. (though I can’t seem to master continental yet). From Denver, Colorado!
Thank you! Very simple and easy to follow. I had no trouble with the first method so I'll stick with that. Thanks again.
I appreciate you showing an alternative. Very helpful. I will probably use both methods for a while until A favorite is decided.
The alternative is million times easier. Many thanks
Tried it... was pretty hard, did not know where with my fingers 😆 But after three times trying I did it! 🥳
I like the alternative option with slipping the stitch over instead of tbl. Thank you!

Excellent video! Thank you for showing me a new way to do the dreaded P2togbl - I was hating this stitch, and will try the new stitch alternative.
Dziękujemy.

Thank you so much. I used the alternative method!!! Most helpful

you are an amazing teacher! thanks
You're very welcome!
I like the 2nd method you show. It's soo easy. Thanks.
Heh. It is, isn't it. Glad to be of help joy 😎
Thank you so much for the alternative method!!! That is saving me on this stephen west shawl!!😭
I knew I'd find an easier way to do this...thanks❤

@@NimbleNeedles Hasn't been a bullying issue for me. I just use the method that feels more comfortable.
Was this decrease difficult for you? Or easy? which version did you knit? through the back loop or with the slipped stitches?
Thank you! This was so hard to learn, but your video really helped!
glad I could be of help. But yeah, this stitch really IS difficult!
I have a pattern that is yarn over then p2togbl... the first method is very tough to execute with a yo in front. thanks for the alternative!
that's why I included it, after all. Glad to be of help, Jennifer
Thank you for including the alternative stitch! 🙏

hey there. I am not a norwegian knitting and I don't want to teach knitting styles i am not intimately familar with. thank you for your understanding.

That decision is entirely up to you. I personally don't findany of these particular challenging 😅
Thank You so much for this advice. For me it is exlent way how to knit the p2togtbl😊😊
My pleasure. Glad I could help!
Thank you! This is so clear and helpful.
Excellently taught!! many thanks. Peace
Thanks Norman for tutorial, I like slip stitch more than p2tgtbl bc I think p2tgtbl is weird knitting oops
Thank you so much for helping me
always a pleasure, Jelsa!
@@NimbleNeedles I am new to knitting because it’s been 1 year since I’ve knitted so this video helps me a lot
So helpful! Thanks!!!
OMGosh thanks sooooo much!!!! Vicki
2:12 alternate stitch
Wow, total life safer, slipping the stitch is much easier IMO, im left handed so wondering if that is contributing?!
don't know...but maybe ;D

Thank you. :)
Slipping is much easier for me
