He basically did win as he poisoned the Mountain with Manticore Poison. Oberonused another substance to slow down the poison as he didn't want to show mercy to the Mountain.

Everybody cries about the second actor, actually he is a very good actor. He just helped out playing the role of Gregor, for example he is also the actor of the giant Wun Wun or of a White Walker, he worked in many roles and did a very good job at it.

The Mountain from S1 was the best in every single way possible. -jacked, yeah not quite as big as new guy, but in all that plate armor looks just as buff -4 inches taller than the new guy 6'9" is tall but the mountain should tower over the Hound. -about 20 yrs older, much more menacing, his scowl is intimidating. the new guy looks like a teddy bear strongman. in fact people didn't even look like that back then. the S1 mountain was the only one that you truly buy as Sandor's older, psychotic brother.

But the deal-breaker is the weapon. A bastard sword wont do much against an armored knight. But a blow from Robert with his warhammer to the head will rattle you.

With his warhammer, he would have better odds than with a greatsword, bit considering the length, weight, width, and size of the wielder, it's fair to say Gregor could easily rattle someone in a full harness. My bets on Robert with his warhammer, but Gregor wouldn't be easy by any metric, especially given that Gregor, despite being dim, is a pretty good fighter using strength alone.
The Sallet type helmet used by Sir Hugh was not equipped with a bevor (medieval neck guard), which would've protected his neck, and would've saved him. But I guess pride before the fall, not to mention the Mountain is a sadistic psycho just like Joffrey.

Looking at these comments about all the actors and trying to find the right mountain. The first mountain, he was good in body shape and appearance but for only acting as a side character and only for two episodes for the first season, I can see why he gave up that role to play as Bolg in the Hobbit movies. The second one, he had the face, voice and height (7 ft 1) but didn't have the body shape. However, I think I can see that he was only a 'quick find new actor". I think they only cared if he had the height and the face, for the time being. But then moved on to playing other characters wearing costumes as that's more his thing as he was known for playing the predators in both AVP (alien vs predator). And the third one, he had everything, body, face, voice though he is the shortest out of them all being under 7ft. I think the directors ignore the height and focused on appearance this time which was for the best as he is after all the strongest man in the world. Why not play as the strongest (in strength) in Game of Thrones?

Gregor Clegane's resurrection is much better done than Jon Snow's. It took much more time, so it feels like resurrecting someone is very hard to do, which is good. Because if resurrecting someone is easy (as Melisandre showed), death is meaningless. Also it came with a cost: He became alive as a mute zombie.

Gregor Clegane's resurrection is much better done than Jon Snow's. It took much more time, so it feels like resurrecting someone is very hard to do, which is good. Because if resurrecting someone is easy (as Melisandre showed), death is meaningless. Also it came with a cost: He became alive as a mute zombie.
