nice. I just bought my 1st bike 2015 ninja 300... it's nice need little work. cost me 800 bucks needed cluth and fairing. what I was told. it needs a lot more work. its rideable but not road ready .

My guess is you have added to much oil. The oil should be just below the top of the sight glass when the bike is not running and sitting straight up, not leaning.
when oil-filter is not remove/change, refill 2-liters only change oil-filter fill only 2.2-liters engine overhaul/completely dry fill only 2.4-liters above 2.4-liters is not good. (just saying :-) )
Welcome to the 300 club! I remember when I took the stock oil filter off it took me forever lol if you have ideas for mods I've done plenty to my bike haha safe riding!
Tap on the wrench to break the bolt free, instead of pushing it and breaking your knuckles. I was all scarred up before I figured that one out. So just some friendly advice. Also, adding an extension to clear hitting anything with your hand when you have to lever something off will save you from getting hurt. I like the aluminum foil idea. Could have uses in other areas as well.
Tapping on the wrench isn't the best idea, you can lose stability on the head and round / churn the edges of the head. Instead just push with a flat hand instead of wrapping your hand around the wrench. You'll just slap things instead of wrecking your knuckles :)
I suggested that with the idea that you would hold steady pressure so it doesn't slip with one hand and tap with the other, using both hands in conjunction. I know sometimes this isn't an option but it works in practice. Tapping can generate enough sheering force to break it free, but if it lets go while pulling hard you can hurt yourself. Do what you will, my suggestion is just that, a suggestion.
Marton Bagoly Sorry to hear that, Marton. I too have scars from learning the hard way. At least you are doing it yourself and can appreciate what it takes to learn and maintain something you use. A rubber mallet, torch and penetrating lubricant can be your friend. :)
Way too much oil! Half full in sight glass with engine OFF and upright. Not running and leaning. This is how you burst seals. Also, take the faring off one side of the bike. Its 4 screws and two clips. Makes things 10x easier.
you should never tighten the filter with a wrench or socket. not only is it too tight which could damage the threads it also can damage the filter and cause a leak.
Thank for the video. just did my first oil change on my sons Ninja 300. foil over the exhaust was a good idea. I used close to 4l oil (MOTUL 5100 SEMI-SYNTHETIC ENGINE OIL 10W40) Sorry guys .. Update on the oil .. i have 1L left in the container .. i though it was a 5L but its a 4L .... so yes i used close to 3L oil in the bike
Poor bike! Refer to checking proper forums online if you do not have a manual for the bike! 4L of oil is drowning the bike! Will do more harm than good…
*HEY GUYS, I NEED SOME HELP!* I changed my oil and oil filter yesterday on my 2011 kawasaki ninja 250 and when I went to tight the filter cover and oil filter mounting bolt, I broke the filter cover.. It's in pieces and I've been searching all over to get a replacement but where's a good place to order one? Or could I use another oil filter cover at maybe a local hardware or bike shop??
daro ChaNNeL most of the parts between the Z300 and Ninja 300 are identical... plastics on the front end are obviously different as are the front brake lines and headlight.. but the headlight is lifted straight from the Z800 so no worries there 😁
Depends on how many miles you’ve ridden the bike. I change out my filter every 3k. Sometimes I change out my oil at 1.5k. So I’ll change my oil twice before the oil filter is changed.
@@99SVTBolt That's right... a good filter will do its job. There are cheaply manufactured filters. K & M makes great filters. Changing oil at 1.5K on a 296cc high rev. engine is sound advice. I'm doing filter every 3K also. Just my 2 cents worth. Preventive maintenance pays!
PWNS JONES can you make a video of a full coolant flush and replacement on a ninja 300. I have a ninja 300 just like the one you got and I don't know how to do a full coolant flush.
Do you know how to change the running lights ? I can't find any videos on RUclips about how to do it, imo my findig videos about the headlights but not the running lights
car oil has additives in it that decrease friction, this bike has a wet clutch, the clutch needs friction. Car oil can and will cause your clutch to slip.
Why stick your finger in dirty, cancer causing oil when you could have poured some fresh oil into the filter to prime it. That way when you start the engine, there already oil in the filter vs the way you did it with a dry filter. The engine will run a extra couple of seconds running with no oil till that empty filter is filled with oil and then it gets circulated to protect that engine.
4:01 loathing doesn't mean the same thing as dreading. PS you're not using your tools well and you added way too much oil, like everyone is saying. I don't think you should be showing others how to do this.
Lmao! Why didn't you just take the right lower fairing off so you could really get at that filter? LMAO! But I got you, that would be more tools. Your title did say the easy way ;)
Dude....1/2 to 3/4 turn once rubber gasket has made contact with the block on the oil filter. Also that Castrol Oil U showed is for cars. Use motorcycle oil car oil not design for gears and clutches...
Why would you mislead everyone? This isn't where the oil goes guys! There is a tank on the top of the bike that needs a key to open it. It smells like gas but trust me, put oil in it. You have to flip your bike up side down in order to get the existing oil out. You don't need anything special to flip it. Just flip it and lay it out on the handle bars. YOU ARE WELCOME!
Thanks this will help a lot when I do my first oil change!! I just bought my first bike. 2013 blacked out ninja 300 !! I love it!

The bike takes 2.2L with the filter on and the bike standing uprite with the engine off. (Reference the service manual)
Yes!
So should the sight glass be half full with the bike off and standing upright or should it be half full with the bike on and upright?

Still coming back every time I go to do this for a recap. Thanks for generously sharing...and for the laughs.
Take the oil cap off, leave the bolt out, and remove the oil filter. It allows the oil to flow without suction or pressure
My guess is you have added to much oil. The oil should be just below the top of the sight glass when the bike is not running and sitting straight up, not leaning.
Halfway up the sight glass is my rule of thumb. Start it up and let it run for until warm. Check. Add. Done.
when oil-filter is not remove/change, refill 2-liters only
change oil-filter fill only 2.2-liters
engine overhaul/completely dry fill only 2.4-liters
above 2.4-liters is not good.

My guess is you don’t know when to use to or too.
Yeah too much oil. The oil will rise higher when engine gets warmer.
Thank you, so much for making this video, it's simple, clear and it really helped me out, with my KN300, when I didn't have a manual. Deh;)
I wish my CBR250R baked potatoes so easily. It isn't hard, but that thing has nice access.

I've got a couple videos you can check out on my channel but to start a mussari exhaust, quickshifter, glowing lights phone mount, and a bunch more
levels should be checked warm, engine off bike level...
This was an AWESOME video. And the dad jokes- total bonus

Is that gtx wet clutch compatible ?
Kelly Hipp if it says energy conserving on the API starburst, then no.
I would imagine this will be the same on the Versys 300X. Thanks for your vid.

thank you so much for posting this.

Did you not take off any fairing before hand?
Is that same way for ninja 125 2020. And what the best oil for it . Please let me know.
ninja300cc engine looks exactly the same as mine Kawasaki z300. 😊 cool video bro

is it mandatory to change oil filter when changing oil??

hello can you please do a video on brake fluid change!!
Hey pwns what mileage did you change your oil at?

Yes and the final colour will be yellow😂😂
Ooooh THAT was the front tire?
You Rock Aaron! ;-)

Just subbed
Please a question, my manual said change oil every 12.000km, my dealer 6000km i am getting ripped off?
Enrique DB 6000km is normal for an oil change. 6000km or 1 year, which ever you reach first
K&N oil filters blow.. literally.. and you check oil in ever single car and bike on the planet with the engine off!
I think you used car engine oils?
car oil has additives in it that decrease friction, this bike has a wet clutch, the clutch needs friction. Car oil can and will cause your clutch to slip.
Car oils will cause a wet clutch to slip. If it says energy conserving on the API starburst, then you shouldn’t use that oil.
It's completely different..
Car rpm normally 8k..
Bike rpm can go up to 12k..
So it's absolutely car lubrication oil is not suit for bike...
I have a 300 too did ur oil smell like petrol/gas. my 300 oil stinks like gasoline really bad I've been trying to figure out what the problem is.
+Nicholas B Sounds like you have a fuel leak. Check the gas cap as well.
Have the oil tested and see if there’s excessive fuel in there to be sure.
The service manual calls for 2.2 L not 3
Bro the potato 🥔 comment 😂 🤣 💀
Tin foil, great idea, I'm going to use it next time I change the oil in my riding lawn mower too.
