- The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have attended the launch of the National Emergencies Trust - a new charity which will provide emergency response to disasters in the UK, such as the Grenfell Tower fire or the London Bridge terror attacks.

Adding my 2 cents. The royal family have a hard life. It may not seem so on the surface with the luxury lifestyle, etc. How would you like to live your life in the fishbowl they do? Although this is the British Monarchy, they are not only seen in Britain/UK, but worldwide. The Queen has dedicated her WHOLE LIFE to the service of the UK people. Again, living in luxury, that is beside the point. These people give their lives... A whole lot more than I do, there are times when I think, oh my gosh, they have to listen or watch that? LOL. I respect every one of them for what they do and the position they hold. I respect EVERY ONE of them...

When (a) member(s) of the Royal Family is/are (a) Patron(s) of a charity, does it mean that they fund it in any way or donate financially to the charity?
Kate once attended a party from one of her charity the party was to rase money for a new building. 5 years later the building is ready and the duchess will attend an official opening. They usual visit to find out what they do what they need and things like that and so by that the charity gets more exposure and more sponsorships for themselves.
So it must also mean that they USUALLY, or generally, spend THEIR own funds/money to get themselves to the venue involved.
