For me redundancy is not about whether two fragrances could be used for the same scenario (LNdlH- The One). Its more about whether two fragrances smell so much alike, you would have problems to tell which one it is (Sauvage- Luna Rossa Carbon for instance)

Luna Rosa Carbon and Dior Sauvage are in the same genre of fragrance but they smell completely different, I can tell right away when someone is wearing either one. Even Sauvage EDT and Sauvage Parfum smell completely different then one another, they are all different and don't smell alike

Yes! I said it on the last video and will repeat it, this is a great video concept for someone like me that wants to have a limited amount of awesome fragrances in my collection. Out of the hundreds of possible purchases I just want a few that can cover all aspects of life when you would wear a fragrance. If one bottle is empty I can just buy another fragrance with the same scent profile (if I want to switch it up ofcourse).
I know that you (Omar) said in a previous video that 5 different types of fragrances could probably cover all situations and you gave 1 designer and 1 niche alternative for these 5 different occasions. I liked that video and i´d like to see a 5 seperate videos where you´d include 10-ish fragrances of each category and rank them from 10-1. Your own personal opinion is subjective but it puts all these different fragrances in a perspective of when you´d wear certain fragrances. Maybe even divide it into 10 designer 10 niche types x5 scenarios, 10 videos series.

If you really have the urge to smell every fragrance to start your fragrance journey, I suggest you to spend on decants 1-2 ml, instead of going blind buy in full bottle
Also make sure to journal it so you can track which notes you like and dislike from a perfume and you can avoid buying the similar fragrance you already owned for efficiency

This is a great idea! Although I’d prefer like at least 5 mL of decants bc I’ve tried fragrances that I didn’t like at first but I ended up loving and vice versa just needed to spend a lil time w them. I have noticed about certain notes also. For example Rasasi Dareej which is a clone of Valentino V has something in it that I do not like and I noticed that same note in another fragrance I can’t remember what it is tho. Patchouli maybe

Dior Homme 2020 is a true masterpiece of masculinity and versatility while at the same time doesn't smell at all with any other blue fragrance. Dior homme Sport 2021 is the new sauvage EDT on an amber way. Both my favorites

  • @justinreadingbooks
    @justinreadingbooks 11 месяцев назад +3

I guess this is why fragrance is so subjective. BDC EDP for me is very grapefruit, ginger, mint (my nose puts it closer to Sedley), where Dior Homme 2020 is straight up woody for me (closer to Burberry Hero to me). My wife has actually referred to Dior Homme 2020 as my "lumberjack" smell. I have both, love both

I agree regarding BDC-Dior Homme. It feels, that Dior Homme is simplistic, well constructed, but simplistic again. It is very much based upon Iso E Super, Ambrox, Cedarwood raw materials, also Hedione-Pink Pepper-Elemi combination probably can work in such formulas. It is fairy linear, mass appealing, very nice smell though, extremely versatile and smells quite light fresh and natural, I would say. Some clean white Musks support the base, I guess. It is literally impossible to dislike. It is not difficult to understand, why people love it. I would never buy it though. I am on Bleu de Chanel side for sure, of course I stand with Parfum concentration, masterful perfumery in this one...
I really respect Anteus and Kouros. It is a homage to classic French perfumery. I adore them both too.

Great video. I own both Dior Homme 2020 and Bleu de Chanel Parfum. I totally understand what you are saying… while they don’t smell the same, they are of the same style and as in my case- if a gentleman likes one and enjoys wearing it, most likely he would very much like and wear the other one. 👍🏻

I am 60 year-old and love animalic fragrances. I, too, wish they would come back into popularity. When I am in the mood for a night out, I wear either Jacques Bogart Furyo or One man Show Ruby Edition. Those dark, dank, truly musky base notes do separate the men from the boys, I my opinion.

I don't agree with the idea that having two fragrances that belong to the same "category" is undesirable. Bleu de Chanel and Dior Sauvage are blue fragrances but they smell very different. Appreciating each fragrance beyond the general category and the situations and other conditions in which they may be used is something that I consider fun and enriching. Simplifying fragrances that smell similar also doesn't add to richness, it rather does to simplicity. I enjoy smelling different fragrances and even the little nuances among them. If you like clean and fresh fragrances and enjoy having a variety of them so as not to get bored, I don't see anything bad about it. That's how I see it.

Interesting video. I see where you’re coming from and I will still own multiple fragrances with similar vibes cause I like the vibes. For instance I like both Dior Homme 2020 and Bleu De Chanel. So having both is a benefit for me. Also I think differences in Silver Mountain Water and Montabaco Intensivio are enough to warrant owning both. Then again I do like tea fragrances a lot.

I wear The One EDP during nights out in cool/cold weather. It gets the call for that duty over La Nuit de L'Homme due to the tobacco. La Nuit de L'homme is my after evening shower fragrance on cool/cold nights when the plan is to stay in.

  • @Morill128

In my opinion, for some of them it only goes one way:
    1. Dior Homme redundant if you have BDC EDP
    2. D&G The One redundant if you have YSL La Nuit de L'Homme
Simply because I consider the latter to be better choices overall. I have to admit I ignored BDC for a long time but recently tested all 3 concentrations and now I consider EDP a masterpiece, just yesterday I bought a full bottle. Can't wait to experiment with layering it with Dylan Blue for an extra "oomph" :)

I use Kouros to keep people away from me. My dog likes Kouros! My cat pees in the areas I walk when I use Kouros. When I don't want people in my house I spray Kouros. If I have a home invasion I use Kouros as a home defense. If you have ever heard of the booze Malort in the US I would say Kouros is the cologne version of that. Yep! Good stuff! 😂😂
