The interesting thing is that Mothra, along with Godzilla, are the only ones who have the classic songs of the characters from the original Japanese films. The rest of the kaijus do not have their original theme songs, for example King Ghidorah, and Rodan, or Kong himself (although the latter is not originally Japanese, but the two franchises came together since the first films of both).
If it had not been for the poor execution of the humans in King of the Monsters, the film would have been sublime, from the soundtrack, the monsters, the fight scenes, the villain (who was scary), the setting, New Empire was good for casuals but we all know that the best will always be king of the Monsters
Mothra's theme in GxK sounds like an Orchestra from an Opera, which is cool actually, but not much compared to her Theme in KOTM, which sounds Mystical, and Ancient, it makes you Feel the impact of Greatness that Mothra has and her beauty, it looks like i'm hearing an Angel singing. 😇🥰
KOTM mothras theme is like that because she is figthing againts an enemy wich could end her life Its like a battlecry However GVKs mothras theme is like a proclamation of a new queen or the return of a queen In other words a celebration in wich a queen in crowned once again.
The thing I hated about King of the Monsters was how the Kaijus(Ghidorah, Rodan and Mothra) were always in the dark. Mothra was hidden behind the waterfall and her god rays. Now we see Mothra close up under broad daylight. The Kaijus are the focus not the humans. In KOTM, they still kept panning away from the Kaijus and then towards the humans. In The New Empire, the Kaijus are the main characters. But soundtrack wise, KOTM was a Hollywood makeover of all of their original themes especially Mothras. So soundtrack wise KOTM wins.
Honestly, I liked the lighting in KotM. I think there should be some shots of the monsters in the light just so people know exactly how they look, but I also really loved scenes like Mothra hatching from her chrysalis, Rodan chasing the Argo with the lighting going from orangish yellow to darkness when they approach Ghidorah, and the battle in Boston starting with dark blues, then going red for Godzilla's thermonuclear form, to then a warm bronze when the battle is over and Ghidorah's storm dissipates. Now my BIG problem with KotM are the cutaways. Some scenes like the Rodan chase make sense. The scene is about the humans trying to lure Rodan to Ghidorah. Of course, humans will be constantly being shown, but then there are scenes like the fight in Antarctica constantly cutting back to the people running away and being scared and running away. As the audience, we could guess they're running in terror as two titans clash, but they keep stealing screen time from the main protagonist and the main antagonist duking it out. In short, KotM has some of the highest highs and the lowest lows of the Monsterverse.
I prefer when the kaijus are in the dark, which really adds to the general beauty and scale of them. The scene where mothra was behind the waterfall felt much better than her glowing in broad daylight.
@@Shadow-jk6ip Oh that waterfall scene I wouldn't change a thing. But I wish they showed her in broad daylight afterwards. But they didn't she was the daylight when she dispersed the storm. For those that may not know, Mothra’s theme in KOTM actually originates from Mothra’s very first solo film from 1961. Its name is simply “Mothra’s Song”. In the Toho movies, Mothra is typically accompanied by two small fairies known as the Shobijin that speak to the human characters (and the audience) on Mothra’s behalf. Whenever Mothra is needed, the Shobijin will sing a song to summon her. This song appears in most of Mothra’s films and has become synonymous with her over the years.
For me its not just that Bear’s score was more true to the original but it was just so unique among modern blockbuster scores. Tom’s is ok but it sounds like it could be from just about any blockbuster.

As someone who is not a fan of Junkie's ost, I like his Mothra theme, but KOTM just hits different and that's not including the unreleased vocal version.
They also probably paid to be able to use the rights of the original theme for KOTM so they'd be able to have a remix of it, while here they probably decided to go with something original instead of paying a ton of cash.
I genuinely wish there was more emotion in the film almost and music HEAVILY impacts that. I just prefer a more traditional feel to mothra's theme and too I was highly anticipating the choir coming back
Given they put the Iwi of Hollow Earth as Mothra’s worshippers, this could have been the perfect opportunity to sing the lyrics too. Like the only time they can make the Iwi speak and it’s to welcome Mothra
The GxK theme fits her scenes better than the KOTM theme would, but that's in the sense that she's supposed to be more generically "heroic" than mysterious and awe-inspiring (her role in GxK is a deus ex machina lol)
I really expected the KOTM Mothra theme to play when I knew Mothra would appear in this film. But yeah, I'm kinda dissapointed. This really what I thought.

Bear. MC .Creary did an excellent job of making Mothra's theme sound both epic and beautiful (even angelic in some parts), which GXK lacked. But it's not just the theme that failed in this movie, I'm glad to see her again, but also the Mothra sounds in GXK sounds like Disney's Kevin bird from the movie Up, only in a higher pitched tone. In GKOTM her sounds are more in line with what Mothra actually is. GKOTM is definitely the best movie in the monsterverse, by far.

being real, in my opinion the new one is just ass along with every gxk music and the movie itself. I can't remember a single ost from that movie from how forgettable they all are.
@@arthurlofrano7021 egypt fight and main title are the only ones I remember
@@BoBa_B.S. i dont remember a single one from how shit they all are.
If they remixed the kotm theme to use for gxk that would’ve been a bit better in my opinion or atleast sound better
I know that licenses for music is expensive but this sounds too alien to be Mothra
it'll be copyrighted by toho
@@Ryuu1010YT I know but what I was saying is that they could make another theme that sounds better without having to be the same as Mothra’s Song
Then there’s me, liking both
Same
Bear McCreary please come back! We need you!
They should of remixed the KOTM theme for GxK
This is a pretty much accurate summary.
No disrespect to Tom Holkenburg his music is great but compared to the masterpiece that is Bear McCreary's KOTM soundtrack Tom's themes just sound like generic hero, villain & anti-hero themes. Really hope they get McCreary back.
True.
What sucks is gxk could’ve worked. If the real Mothra theme was the buildup, and then have the triumphant GxK theme. It could’ve worked
KOTM mothras theme brings me always to tears because of how beautiful the theme is
KOTM sounds just very mystical, majestic and great, like something so big come to help us
It was probably meant to be phosfera's theme, but im surprised they didnt go trough the effort to just re use the king of the monsters ost once they got the aproval to use mothra
that might actually explain a lot.
Probably. They also kept spamming Godzilla’s theme opening without using half of the rest just to make him feels like Jaws
No, Fosphera was just a placeholder until the 100% got the rights to Mothra
@@FishDino1310 oh yeah, phosfera was a place holder! does not change the fact that the movie with them was made first, thus, they made a soundtrack for them! but yeah, my one hole in the theory is that it would be weird that they didnt think of having mothra's theme done in case they got the rights, or even just re use king of the monsters, perhaps the unused chant version
Knowing GxK's Tom Holkenborg AKA Junkie XL nowadays loves AI and embraces it in his music, this was an extremely accurate video lol.
Nothing can beat Bear McCreary.
I’m emotional right now, because I ❤ and miss the good old times of GODZILLA KOTM and mothra theme.
**me hearing the "mosura Ya" lyrics from rhe original mothra theme in my mind** :
KOTM theme was a tribute to the old mothra theme
Notice how even godzilla's theme has elements from the KOTM one, i guess toho didn't allow them to keep using it so they just made one that sounds similar, same thing with mothra
That and Mothra AGAIN barely getting any screentime. At least she lives this time.
Least she felt more useful this time than in Godzilla: King of the Monsters.
Suddenly, I get why they didnt bring Rodan back. If everyone's so divided abt Mothra's theme, I dont wanna know what they'll do if they change Rodan's theme
I like the new one, but it sounds more like it belongs out of the 2001 Disney movie Atlantis the lost Empire. Not a bad thing because I like it but Bear McCreary’s score from King of the Monsters is still my favorite out of all of the movies.
As someone who is not a fan of Junkie's ost, I like his Mothra theme, but KOTM just hits different and that's not including the unreleased vocal version.
I like the Godzilla and Mohra KOTM music, because is like a remake version of their original song made by toho.
Most of the GxK ost was just noise to me. Nothing stood out like KOTM did.
To me, the KOTM version is her normal theme, while the new one from GxK is like a version of it that plays when she gets a power up or something.
Kotm:classic remake
GxK:G.M.K 2001 with high choir
Kotm’s theme goes hard.
Bear the Goat
I do feel that the song "Divine and gorgeous" didn't reach its full potential. I feel that they didn't go all out. They didn't cook enough.
Bear Mcreary is just GOATED.
He built on top of his predecessor Akira Ifukube.
They also probably paid to be able to use the rights of the original theme for KOTM so they'd be able to have a remix of it, while here they probably decided to go with something original instead of paying a ton of cash.
The most likely reason they did this is because they may not have the rights to the music.
@@narukamishirou284 Heavy on that, that would've been perfect
I LOVE BOTH OF THEM EQUALLY
Me too
Mothra bgm KOTM the real original mothra bgm.
Tbh, both themes are so amazing, but Bear McCreary's version of the og Mothra theme will always be the most legendary. Greatest version of Mothra's theme ever. Stop hating on the GxK theme tho, its gives me goosebumps just as the KOTM theme gives me. I was hyped for Mothra's return and honestly JunkieXL did a great job (again, not as good as Bear)
Mothra's original theme: keep talking fools
I love how squidward is initially shocked that SpongeBob can perfectly replicate his incorrect performance with what appears to be an index card
GKOTM is definitely the best movie in the monsterverse, by far.
ehh not really, for me, its Godzilla vs. Kong
@@misterflibble2931for you, no need to say not really and then input your opinion that way
@@hknil8966 I said not really FOR ME
