  • With two spots for the Candidates up for grabs, the 2023 Grand Swiss finished in a rather sensational way: despite being almost a dark horse among Indian grandmasters, Vidit Gujrathi finished in clear first place!
Ilya Levitov took an interview of the winner where he disclosed the key to his success. Can you guess what it is? What is it that made a young Vidit want to become an elite grandmaster? What is it that the country is still missing for chess to be even more popular in India?

    Vidit deserves the title.
Moreover, great ambassador of Chess from INDiA.
    So, philosophical in nature❤
    Vishy must be happy!👍

Why isn't Vidit the biggest reason India would want classical 9LX?
      ---
They should have tata steel 9LX, tata steel india 9LX, AICF 9LX, etc
In fact tata steel 9LX makes more sense than tata steel chess because single round robins in chess randomly assign colours when white has a clear human advantage. In 9LX, the advantage (so far?) is only in computers.

Vidit beat Sergey Karjakin to get in the 2019 WFRCC quarter-finals. But then...
Wesley So & Fabi expectedly do better in classical than in rapid for both 9LX & chess. Now, I'm not familiar with Vidit but
      - Wesley So does 30% better.
      - Fabi does 40% better.
      - VIDIT DOES 300% BETTER.
LIKE 50% CLASSICAL SCORE BUT 12.5% RAPID SCORE.
      2
      Vidit in 9LX
      - is the top Indian classical player
      - is the worst rapid player among the top 9 of the 2019 WFRCC.
      - in classical ties for 2nd place w/ Fabi & Nepo behind Wesley So.
      3
When is Tata Steel Classical Chess960 ? It should be a knockout where Vidit is seeded into the quarter-finals. It can be 60min, not 120min.

In the 2019 WFRCC, wesley so beat magnus in 3x classical in a row!
Question : When was the last time this happened in chess that someone lost 3x classical in a row in the finals of a FIDE or PCA WCC (or finals of knockouts candidates or semi-finals of a knockout WCC) ?
Answer : Vishy Anand beat Alexei Shirov in 2000.
2 whole decades Vishy's record stood - broken only in a variant!

Deep meditation techniques will help you to be centered and grounded.
Need to learn it from an expert.
Secondly the more you are prepared you are more confident and your heart rate will be in control.
Finally, people under estimate the impact of meditation.
If a person can pull off the meditation correctly and go deeper and deeper it will help.

getting an expert to teach you is kind of tough, and black lotus and other mediation apps all heavily restrict what you can do without paying. very tough to get consistent if you're trying by yourself without any sort of software even. quite tough for a free guy to get on the meditation train.
