He wasn’t able to control it due to the sudden change to his powers so he had to sleep it off or heal from it. This in turn caused his demise since he wasn’t able to fully heal from it in time before he met Dr. Doom.

Fantastic Four movie opening: Limousine pulls up in front of big financial building, close up of foot getting out. Doors are opened while we see various parts of the figure as he enters building. Walks past secretary without acknowledging, in to office. Closes door and pull out to realize, this is Kingpin! Until he starts to melt showing a rocky hide underneath.
Face melts down to Reed revealing Ben under as Sue and Johnny become visible with Sue touching Johnny's shoulder.
Sue: "You two start on that side, Johnny and I will start over here." They start searching for something.
Cut to outside, Limo pulls out and the real Kingpin gets out. Doormen and guards don't know what to say. One runs to a button under the desk and presses the alarm.

Las 2 primeras peliculas de Los Cuatro Fantasticos 2005 y 2007 fueron magnificas y no lo que se ha dicho de ellas en ser pesimas, en las 2 historias se ve la razon de ser de los heroes y como sobrellevaron sus vidas con sus superpoderes, lastima que no se completo la trilogia con la tercera secuela debido a la taquilla en recaudar la segunda secuela menos dinero que la primera, pero sin tomar en cuenta que si se recuperaba toda la inversion de produccion del film y siempre habia una cantidad considerable en ganancias, si merecia cerrar su trilogia por que el film con Silver Surfer dejaba en suspenso que pasaria con el plateado flotando en el espacio despues de enfrentar a Galactus, esta parte de la pelicula hace continuar la historia finalizandola en trilogia.
