honestly, for as fun as the whole video is, i think my favourite thing about this video to this day is being able to see anti and dark face to face. it provides the viewers with a good opportunity to really see the differences between the two characters, even on a fundamental level.
anti's movements and voice reflect the way he is as a character: manic, feral, unstable, glitchy. there's nothing you can really rely on with anti, he's almost like an embodiment of chaos, uncertainty, and erraticism.
meanwhile dark is the polar opposite of that: stoic, calm, collected, in control. every time dark shows up in mark's other videos, you immediately know he's planning something. you always feel like everything is always going according to his plan, even when it isn't true.
So...like Joker versus Lex Luthor? Hmmmm, I think I like this trope

I love both Dark and Anti quite a lot. They are very different in the way they act and all that, and I just love both of these versions of darkness. :D
Dark has the style and is more the scheming kinda villain, while Anti is just deliciously unhinged crazy. Both will get rid of you if you are an inconvenience and in the way though, but the way they do that would be pretty different.

To me Anti is the most relatable because it's so close to what I experience from my own multiple diagnoses. The lack of control, paranoia, self-doubt and -hatred and denial of how far gone you are. Darkiplier represents another horrifying perspective: the part of yourself that manipulates you into thinking you're in control when in fact you're gaslighting yourself every day. Both are so sad and equally terrifying.

Thing is, Darkiplier’s just as angry and glitchy as Antisepticeye underneath it all, he just hides it really well. It doesn’t show in this video, but in A Date With Markiplier there are several moments where his calm exterior cracks to show him raging and glitching before abruptly returning a second later.

I love the contrast of Anti and Darkiplier. I also love how at the end Anti smiles at Chica even when she charges them but Darkiplier is terrified. It truly shows how Anti isn’t afraid to die even a horrible death but it also shows how Darkiplier doesn’t want to die because it ultimately means he fails because he therefore can’t manipulate anything anymore.
