- Het WK '74, moeten we het daar nog over hebben? Moet er weer zout in de wond? Alles is toch gezegd, geschreven en getoond? Over Oranje, inderdaad. Maar vergeet Cruijff, de 'nackte Mädchen' en de vraag waarom wíj in godsnaam verloren. We verplaatsen ons naar Malente, een afgelegen dorpje in Noord-Duitsland, waar het West-Duitse elftal zich voorbereidde op het WK. Daar draaien we met de hoofdpersonen Franz Beckenbauer, Günter Netzer en Berti Vogts de vraag om: waarom wonnen de Duitsers?

Aan de WK-finale van 1974 willen veel Nederlanders niet meer terugdenken, het is echt een (onzichtbaar) litteken. Maar het is best interessant om het oogpunt vanuit het andere, het Duitse, persepectief te zien. De “nachtelijke spelersvergadering” in Malente heeft alles veranderd. Het is en blijft erg sneu voor Nederland, maar na de penalty in de eerste minuut hebben ze de Duitsers in de wedstrijd laten komen. En ja oké, tweede helft had Nederland veel pech. Ik vind de Duitsers in deze docu ook best reëel overkomen, want ze geven ook toe dat Nederland de beste ploeg was dat toernooi. Sowieso vind ik Duitsers overall vaak symphatieker over ons praten over dan wij over hun, wat het onderwerp ook is… In Nederlands oogpunt was het een mooi WK, met geen goede afloop.
Dit was zonder meer het beste nationaal elftal die ooit gespeeld heeft op een groot toernooi. Dit was voetbal buiten categorie of van een ander planeet. En mijne favoriet was Rensenbrink alias de Slangemens. Het was een genot om die mannen te zien spelen. En toch blijf ik erbij….met Jan Van Beveren in het doel in ‘74 en ‘78 dan waren jullie 2x wereldkampioen geworden. En dit zijn woorden van een voetbalsupporter uit Vlaanderen.
jongbloed stond er inderdaad als een zoutzat bij, bij de de twee goals.
De beste keeper ter wereld zat thuis: Jan van Beveren. Schuldige: Johan Cruijff
En blessure Robbie Rensenbrink.
Nee.....zucht....Van Beveren was niet fit.

Nobody thought that any team could beat the Netherlands in that Workd Cup because of their dominance. Well that's what I love about football.
But at that It was the arrogance of The Netherlands that cost a big trophy
I was 12 years old when this match was played. My father had been in a german work camp and then rebuilt a ruined country. He had a near fatal heat attack when he was 52. He had worked himself almost to death. For the next 13 years he sat in a chair until he died at 64. He couldn't walk any further then a couple of meters. My mother told him, when the Netherlands (and yes, I am Dutch), reached the finals: "Don't watch this. It might be to much for you." Of course he didn't listen. I was 12 when this match was played and I remember it almost minute by minute, strangely enough. We got 1-0 ahead in the first minute without the germans even touching the football. But this was more then a match. This was payback time for what that generation went through during the war. Also for the players. Many of them had lost their fathers or had to see them come back as broken men. We had the best player in the world, Cruyff. We had the best team. We should have won. And we lost because of bad luck. The germans got a penalty they didn't deserve. My father was pale as a sheet. My mother couldn't stand it anymore and took my by the hand and we went walking in the park near our house. And the park was full people.. Cursing, in groups crying, so angry that they kept on walking for hours. O, for us this was far more then just a football match.
@@normadesmond6017 That's a sad story you told and I understand your point of view. I'm German and I was 10 when the final was played. The Netherlands were the better team but the team that took their chances won. That happens very often. Remember when Barcelona and Bayern were beaten by a destructive playing FC Chelsea. The Netherlands were leading Germany 1:0 and lost anyway. Even when you're the better team if you don't take your chances you are in danger to lose the match. Unfortunately the hate between German and The Netherland teams/fans continued until the early 90 between generations who were born decades after the end of WW2. I never got that. Today I think it's way better - and that's good.
@@leroyrs Agree with you on that point. When the dutch are 1-0 ahead, they think they are already champions. The germans never give up and keep on fighting. that's why we always loose and you always win. But during that time, in 1974 , we had parents who still suffered because of the second world war and we suffered with them. In this time and age it to long ago to make any difference. Were we stupid and arrogant the way we played in 1974? For sure. We felt so much above everybody else because we had Cruyff and the team that we were bound win. But most of all I felt sorry for my dad. He didn t have much of a life because of the war and I just wished that he got his revenge, even if it was only by winning a football match. Today it doesn't matter anymore. Too long ago. But to be very honest, when the Germans win, i still think about my father who died when I was 16. I know this generation has nothing to do with it, but I still do. It makes no sense, but it's engraved into me.
@@leroyrs 2014 i did not mind Germany won they played very well i think the best team with The Neatherlands we won the little final against Brasil and Germany the world cup against Argentine. Both teams played the best football during that worldcup.
Infelizmente não entendo alemão, pois gostaria de entender oque eles comentam desta derrota da Alemanha Ocidental para a Alemanha Oriental, na minha opinião perderam de propósito, para não jogar contra Brasil, Holanda e Argentina.
Incrível como Gerd Müller, tem uma habilidade para marcar este tipo de gol foi assim contra a Polônia no jogo da semifinal, contra o Cruzeiro na final do interclubes de 1976, no primeiro jogo em Munique, gols com a mesma semelhança.

Nederlanders kunnen fantastisch voetballen maar ze vergeten vaak door te drukken.

You forget the 3rd German goal in second half which was called offside by the ref although the striker was onside by a country mile, ok more than 1 meter
I remember watching this game live. Forgot about the 3 sitters Cruyff laid on for Rep, all of which he missed. We won't talk about them either.

Wij nederlanders hebben ook vaak een beetje last van arogantie, van dat doen we gewoon even; wij zijn toch veel beter. Tja, koste ons 3 Wereld titels.
Ik denk dat dat in 1978 en 2010 wel mee viel hoor. Iedere finale heeft weer zijn eigen verhaal. 1978 had Nederland nooit kunnen winnen vanwege corruptie en 2010, tja, pech..
