djinn toy I just did some research, if 5 people arrive at the same time with the same type of life threatening illness, the celebrity would get called in first. But if someone was there first with a life threatening illness a celeb came in, he wouldn't jump the line. Do you realize the legal risk for a hospital if a patient died because someone jumped in front of him because of being a singer?
Couldn't agree more. I remember when Pat joined Nirvana and automatically accepting him like he'd been in the band all along. They couldn't have picked a more perfect guy and even though technically he was only a touring guitarist, he was only in the band for around 6 months when Kurt died. But I still think of Pat as an official member.
Victor Bastos he made it a lot easier on Kurt to perform and interact with the crowd, you know playing and singing both leads isn't easy at all so Pat didn't need to add anything to the band, he was just there to help Kurt play guitar.
Enzo Ferrari no I wish I was alive when Nirvana was around I was born a couple years after his death in 97. Brian Brancato Kurt Cobain was a pioneer of social issues. He stood up for what he believed for like Eminem and would tell right wing conservatives to fuck off. Eminem just did the same. Good on these artists for having such courage. _"If any of you, in any way, hate homosexuals, people of a different color or women, please do this one favor for us - leave us the fuck alone. Don’t come to our shows and don’t buy our records."_ *_- KURT COBAIN_*
Zarin M there is a possible way. It's called clinical depression. You learn to say what people want to hear. It's not about giving up or being weak. It's a powerful mental illness which kills people.
The best thing Kurt did by getting Pat into the band was to save him from obscurity, because at that time Pat was a "might-have-been" after the Germs and his stint with Nina Hagen Pat Smear was no more than a footnote working at a record store. Which is where he met Kurt Cobain, Kurt invited Pat over to Seattle to join Nirvana but to actually get there, Pat had to sell all his guitars since he didn't have a pot to piss in. So when he arrived in Seattle and Kurt learned about his poverty, he pushed two things into Pat's hands, a blue Mosrite guitar and a Nirvana credit card. Further salvation came when Fender got an endorsement deal going with the band and a whole crate of Stratocasters was delivered to Pat's apartment. So what did Pat bring to the band? Punk credibility for one but also a much thicker sound, Kurt and Pat's guitar styles are very similar, look up the Rock N Roll hall of fame performance, Pat's playing almost makes you forget that it isn't Kurt on guitar.
Oh really? Dave and Pat talked about how Kurt met Pat in a record store where he was working in the "Dave Grohl and Pat Smear look up David Bowie's old hang out spots" playboy TV special. In the 2011 "wasting light" guitar world interview Pat said that he had to pawn all his guitars to buy an airline ticket to get himself to Seattle. In that interview he mentions the Nirvana Credit card and the Blue Mosrite guitar. Look up Nirvana's 1993 performance on SNL and there's Pat playing the blue Mosrite. In that same interview he also said that through the endorsement deal he was given three brand new Custom shop Stratocasters for stage use, look up 'MTV's live and loud' and you will see Pat playing those. But when Kurt and Pat engaged into the destruction act, the rep from Fender was "Don't trash them, trash these!" and a whole crate of Mexican made Fenders were delivered to where Pat was staying. Pat said in the interview that he liked those cheaper Mexican Fenders better than the USA made custom ones. So, where exactly did I get it wrong then as I'm basically quoting Pat Smear himself?
Hahaha. RUclips arguments When citing your references finally comes in handy. I love how he said you got heaps of the story wrong but fails to mention any of the 'mistakes' made.
He didn't, the Germs never toured and only played shows in LA and their sole album, although a cult classic, was by no means a million seller. Pat didn't even own a guitar during the Germs' existence, always relying on loaners to play the shows. By the time the band was gaining some momentum thanks largely to "The decline of Western civilization" which featured live footage from The Germs and interviews with Pat and Darby Crash, the band already had decided to break up. Darby Crash committed suicide soon after the Germs played their last show in order to bring the band under attention of a larger crowd. as in "have you heard about that guy having died and he was so young, but his music will live on." Crazy, I know but that actually might have worked if it weren't for the fact that John Lennon was murdered the day after Darby's death. After the Germs dissolved Pat Smear played with Nina Hagen and recorded two solo albums but they didn't go anywhere, as I stated before, it was thanks to Kurt Cobain asking him to join Nirvana that people went "Oh, it's that guy from the Germs, what an awesome band they were." Again, all of this comes from Pat's own mouth as he mentions all of it in different interviews.
+jwoods Bleach didnt fearure 2 guitarists. Jason Everman was listed on the album but didnt play on it. They gave him credit because it was his $600 that paid for the Bleach recording session.
At 11 years old in 1991 I remember waiting beside my cassette boom box for hours until Smells Like Teen Spirit came on so I could record it. I was finally able to get the song on an old Memorex purple and yellow cassette tape, and I listened to it over and over and over and over. My life changed that day.
I was around the same age at that time and I remember doing the same exact thing to capture some nirvana...first song I ever recorded from the radio was lithium, I'd bring it to school and we had these cassette players in the library that would allow 6 people to plug in and listen so everyone kinda expected me to bring in some music every day.. I also tricked the school into having my name as Dave Grohl in the 6th grade yearbook lol good times ....
I always feel so sad when I hear Pats story about the last time he saw/ heard from kurt. It must’ve killed Pat thinking that he could have helped. And wasn’t there. I wonder how much of that played into the rest of his life and decisions
Like .. Michael Hutchinson called Kirt Penguilly and left a message..kirt said if he had got that message he would have seen him for sure. Last call to him ever.
There aren’t many interviews from Krist Dave and Pat about Kurt from the 90s or the 2000s. They really didn’t begin speaking about him for about 20 years because of how heavy the subject is for them specifically. This is one of the first interviews where they openly speak about those last few months and interactions with Kurt in 1994. What Kurt did broke them too.
That photo of Kurt at 2:51 was taken by Dave Grohl’s mom. She was visiting David in Seattle, and Kurt and Krist stopped by. She wrote that it was “a simple moment when three friends were laughing together, enjoying themselves. It was a rare Seattle moment. Kurt was smiling and the sun was shining.” ☺️😢💖
I'm still heartbroken about Kurt not being around and I feel so bad for his family , friends & fans we all lost something special to say the least . R.i.P kC
Sometimes I watch things like this and I really miss Kurt Cobain. I was in Germany when I heard he was dead. I was 15. The only thing I could think about was: "It's so sad! I'll never get the opportunity of listening another record of this great band!" Maybe the greatest of all times...
they say when in Rome.... lol.. But what's interesting here is the last phone call between Dave and Kurt. Kurt told him IT WAS AN ACCIDENT, IT WAS A MISTAKE. While Courtney says it's a suicide attempt.. hmmm let that sink in.
"Accidents" happen all the time when people are messing with drugs. Some car accidents aren't accidents. Kurt would know not to mix heavy drugs and alcohol. It was not an accident and there was a note. Dave and Krist accept the truth. Grant never met him. Dylan Carlson said, "He couldn't find his own ass with a map." He was supposed to be a detective. Are you even old enough to remember Kurt when he was alive. I bet you weren't. You trust slimy cops ans authority figures more than Kurt's band mates and friends. Are you a Trump supporter? He likes conspiracy theories too.
Melora Foy very well said. It’s pretty fucking pompous for anyone to think they know something that his own band and his closest friends (and oh yeah the police department) are too slow to catch on to. Every single “smoking gun” in that documentary has been debunked and logically countered a million times over. Kurt would likely hate the disrespectful and degrading comments toward Courtney, as well as the general sheep mentality, so it’s ironic the conspiracy people think they are sticking up for him or somehow honoring his memory. 🙄
/b/ my GUESS is that Krist has been the most affected by degrees of pain out of all them individually, so he prefers not to discuss it to anyone, especially on camera or interview. That's why he remains obscure in the whole post-nirvana legacy.
Krist and Kurt were friends when they were back in high school, they had spent many years together. I have seen Krist talking about Kurt in interviews before and you can tell that it's still very painful for him, probably more so because him and Kurt weren't on the best terms when Kurt died.
Still chokes me up watching this, even after all these years, I was 15 when Kurt died, I will never forget Nirvana and their legacy. I still believe Courtney had something to do with Kurt's death. I feel for Frances Bean. Everyone please watch the documentary "Soaked in Bleach", it will educate and amaze you in how much Tom Grant knows about the investigation and circumstances.
Watch Montage of Heck instead and see what a special, equal and loving relationship they had. Tom Grant is nothing but the PI who failed to find Kurt even when he was right under his very nose, and got so frustrated over that - missing all the attention and his fifteen minutes of fame - that he invented his own truth to get it anyway.
Joanne Courtney Love was all over production of Montage of Heck, of course it'll paint the happy go lucky couple they were and how suicidal Kurt was. It's very biased.
All Courtney Love did was giving Morgen access to Cobain’s personal possessions, it was up to him what to do with it. Why would he be biased, what would he gain by that? In fact there is no bias at all, because the film just shows footage, without any comment. It just rolls over you like an ocean. It's one of the strongest qualities of the film, it's one long celebration of Kurt Cobain's legacy. As for Soaked in Bleach, I just found this tweet (which is new to me but speaks volumes): www.alternativenation.net/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/novoselicbleach.png . Somehow I have more confidence in the opinion of people who actually knew Kurt (and Courtney), than in some guy who played no part in their lives and clearly didn't have a clue who they were exactly.
Joanne I can understand, but as a Nirvana fan since the early 90's, I've been following the Grant investigation for years and have so many questions into the death of Kurt. I just want Seattle to reopen the case and take a hard look at new evidence and actually take their time with it. Doubt it'll ever happen because it looks bad on a department to overturn a previous call on such a high profile case. Have you watched Kurt and Courtney yet? Documentary by Nick Broomfield. Take a listen to what Eldon Hoke AKA El Duce says about Courtney offering him money to kill Kurt. He also passed a polygraph and was later found dead on the railroad tracks in Riverside CA. Supposedly by accident, but last person he was with was Allen Wrench, the guy Eldon said killed Kurt.....
Yes, I've seen the documentary and I'm aware of all the evidence. A lot of it is circumstantial (or not even that, just Tom Grant's interpretation of a certain look or remark) and what is not circumstantial (handwriting suicide note, position of the gun, the amount of heroin in his blood) has been refuted by experts. It just rather feels like a witch-hunt to me than like a proper investigation.
I went into this video expecting it to be full of info that I’ve heard in other Kurt Cobain videos before (and in some ways it was). But for some reason, it ended up being one of the most heart-wrenching videos that I’ve seen about him. The way Dave and Pat describe their last encounters with Kurt, left me feeling emotional. It really made me feel for Kurt, and for all of those affected by his death. Such a tortured soul, who left us way too soon.
please shut the fuck up and get over it. she didnt kill him, she definitely drove him to suicide though, she was definitely more than 50% of why he did it
@@christianmorales8978 I honestly don't get why people still are having this discussion tbh. I believe the negative influence Courtney had over Kurt played a role, but she def didn't have him killed.
That's what's really sad about this whole thing. El Duce, Courtney Love's father, and the fact she doesn't take Tom Grant to court is more than enough proof. But Kurt is not the only music artist that died in a mysterious way.
I couldn't believe being a punk band and having Pat Smear think "thats my in" about my band. The guy helped develop the punk sound and now he wants to be our 2nd guitarist. Must be a cool feeling.
So, a month..maybe two after Kurt died ,Maybe 3 month after..I can't quite remember, I read shit loads of amount of evidence that stacked up against Courtney that she killed Kurt..knowing already at the time that Kurt wanted a divorce from her.I remember reading the amount of heroin in his system (enough to kill a horse!! let alone a human!), and then taking a shotgun and shooting yourself???? yeah even at age of 16 at the time that never made sense to me how that is possible! Now nearly 25 years later it still doesn't make sense to me!..and not just to me but to people in that field as well..SCIENTISTS, it's been labeled as impossible! You Know what makes it more impossible for anyone with a brain-cell to label it as suicide? It is the fact that all the evidence to Kurt's so called "suicide" is that every piece of evidence was packed away and they were no traces of fingerprints on all the vital pieces of evidence (Shotgun, needles, syringe case, anything he would have needed to touch at the time) it was all wiped clean!!...after you've shoot yourself while stupidly high on heroin! i think it's going to be impossible to be able to wipe all fingerprints off and pack everything away don't you? YEAH that alone screams out murdered! how are people so dumb to not see this? including Dave Grohl!..now maybe Dave is saying "killed himself" so Courtney doesn't try suing him again?,But to everyone else? come on, It's quite clear that he was murdered!.. Like i said the heroin alone would have killed him pretty within 5 /10 min anyway..if not sooner than that,He'd have lost all sense of feeling and strength in his body too..so how could he pick up the gun?? It was 3 times the lethal dose fuck sake! And lets not get into the fact Courtney tried hiring El Duce to kill Kurt , but he refused and was around 3 later on found dead after telling interviewers about Courtney trying to hire him. Come on wake up!
I hear you. But keep in mind addicts can build insane tolerances. And Kurt was suicidal. Remember Rome? I hate trashy Courtney too and maybe she caused it but Kurt wanted to die. In uteros title was gonna be called I hate myself and want to die...the man was sick...I can relate....but maybe I’m wrong
Idk... but all i know from experience with even half that amount of heroin in your system youd pass out or overdose long before being able to picl the shotgun up
Rodzilla- They is no "Oh please " about it! they are the facts!! Ghostfood777 - I do remember Rome and the whole rehab, but he also did interviews after all that saying it was a big mistake and that he was sorry for attempting to do so.. and that he wanted to be around for Frances, and he never felt better about being alive. Maybe he was just bullshitting the press into thinking he wasn't suicidal anymore who knows? but they was his words. If Courtney didn't kill him then she know damn well who did. Technimechanical - Exactly of cause you would, all the experts have said this..not to mention ex users gave their input and said the same thing. I think, we're all missing the link that doesn't tie this chain together properly... How did all those fingerprints from all the vital piece of evidence get removed if they wasn't someone else involved? It's impossible to do it yourself once shooting yourself. Right? They is one way you can can trap Courtney still to this day and that is getting her to do a lie detector and ask her.. Did you kill Kurt Cobain? Do you know who did kill Kurt Cobain? Did you have something do with the death of Kurt Cobain? ect Nobody seemed to give her a lie detector though, I'm damn certain she killed Kurt, or had something to do with it.. It all adds up and points towards her. They was going to get a divorce, constantly arguing, Stagnant relationship,it was over in Kurt's eyes..He wanted out of the marriage. and Courtney knows she's nothing without Kurt, So with Kurt out of the picture (dead) she gets everything he had.. Why would she not want him dead?
Pat smear was just as important as kurt, dave, or krist when it came to nirvana. His guitar style made nirvana complete. Being a fan of early punk, especially the germs and loving the early Seattle scene, I was so excited to see Pat join.
You create yourself as a performance God, a genuinely good one at that and you don't think of the pressures of having to be that night after night, having and obligation to be what people wanted to see as, and so quickly...Had to be a crazy feeling.
I know, right? it's so obvious the way pat basically rolls his eyes after saying that was the last time he ever spoke to or saw him. lol, i wonder what his pseudonym is now, Bill Bailey?
I wanna cry...it always happen when i see him...remember that day perfectly...i was just a teenager in high school but i'll never forget that day...why,why,why?I'm still sad....😔😔😔
I loooooooove pat smear!!!!!!!! Germs were rocking!! Loved listening to them 25 years since I was a teen and sooo glad he came into nirvana.....I bet he knows so many people and crazy stories. ...he is sooo under rated....I am really glad these guys are opening up and final,y starting to talk about nirvana days......we are getting older and the stories they have, stories they have, good and bad....
I remember that day they announced it. I wasn't a huge fan yet. But I felt so bad for him, his daughter, his wife, and the band. I was the same age as he was. It's sadder now, as I am 51.
Nice interviews. Cobain must have been a decent guy as all of them looked deeply affected by his passing. And isn't he just one of the greatest songwriters ever? When "All Apologies" played the hair stood up, the chill came through, and tears welled up like they always do. Simply timeless.
It’s a question that’s been asked 1000 times….could you imagine if Pat had him been home to answer the phone that day!? Pat’s words there break my heart every time I hear it.
Man, I hate when grunge musicians say they never wanted to be famous. You can stop any fucking time you want to. That's what I hated most about that time, the fake humbleness.
kurt cobainbpersonally delivered 100s of copies of love buzz to his entire label staff and local radio stations until they eventually played it against their will. he put much effort into huge recognition.
He wanted people to listen to his music allright and yes, he probably wanted to be famous. That was before he knew what it was like to be famous though. Apart from the fact they were insanely famous overnight. A person is allowed to learn to hate that, even when they didn't have a clue what that would be like before.
Although he later claimed otherwise, Cobain was on board with the polished production of _Nevermind_ and hook-oriented MTV smashes like "Smells Like Teen Spirit" and "Come as You Are" that helped the him achieve international success.
Anyone know the hulk hogan/nirvana story? I'm not sure how accurate this is but it's the jist of the story. Hulk hogan showed up to a nirvana gig, met them backstage. Begged and begged for them to let him play a song on stage with them. The hulkster was extremely drunk at the time to the point where he couldn't stand. Kurt was like no way dude. The same thing happened at another gig, Kurt was again like no way man. Hulk was on his knees begging, aw cmon man, give me the Mexicans guitar and was forever classified by nirvana fans as a racist for calling pat smear "the Mexican". There are other stories of the hulk and his racist comments, these are for you to find out. Please bear in mind, this is not an accurate retelling of the story, there may be mistakes so need for the usual RUclips insults. It's just a version of what I remember reading about years ago. If anyone wants to search online, I'm sure you'll find the proper story.
Ok, the Van Halen thing confused me. I didn't know if I was crazy or my beer soaked brain was playing tricks on me so I looked it up. It was Hulk Hogan. Here is an excerpt from an interview with Pat Smear, www.wrestlingforum.com/rants/2231561-hulk-hogan-met-nirvana-bad.html I felt bad for Pat, especially when he said he thought hulk didn't like him. He must have looked up to him at some point.
I seen that before. And there is also an excerpt of Pat saying it was Van Halen. The whole interview roughly the same except Hulk's name was replaced with Van Halen's and some extra stuff about El Duce of Wrestling, lol. At this point though, it is more of a Nirvana legend of some sort until Pat one day clarifies it somehow.
So I guess what Jim mac said was right, the evh thing was the truth and the hulk hogan story was satire? It's good to clear that up. I always thought the hulkster was just a balding old racist dude..... oh, wait.... I am genuinely shocked at evh though. I always thought he was supposed to be a decent guy.
Feel so sad 1:27 Grohl talking about the unhappiness of tour, seeing Kurt walk off looking down. Kurt gave so much to all of us who were touched by his music. Wish he would have done something to cope, like how the Beatles got too big so they stopped for the most part playing live. Kurt is an American Treasure.
He doesn't. I watched an interview with him a while ago and while he didn't literally said that, he suggested that he believes Courtney or someone else killed him.
Infobahn Pirate Man I hate to hear that. It sounds like you were being a great friend though, by being there for him. But when you’re in a dark place like that, all it takes is a few moments of loneliness, negative thinking, and misguided judgment before you make an unfortunate, and irreversible decision. I had a friend take his own life a few years back as well. It’s still hard to believe that he’s gone. But even though your friends life was cut short, you can’t fault yourself by saying you were never there. There was likely nothing more you could do. At the end of the day, it sounds like your friend left this world with a great friend. Take care man.
Suicide doesn't take away your pain...it just passes to those who are left behind. Too many questions to blank notes. Kurt is a distant cousin. This feeling never leaves...
for those who don't accept Kurt was murdered, i implore you to look at the evidence and decide for yourself. the coroners reports, the scene photos, his wife's motives for doing so... the list goes on man. Kurt wouldn't have committed suicide for one reason and one reason only, which you can find out in his home videos, and that reason is his kid. there's not a person i've met who can watch that and still say he's fucked up enough to kill himself. kurt's history (before the kid was born) was used as a cover for the crime. even if courtney is responsible and regrets it, if she's sorry, it's not going to take away the fact he was murdered. hell, even if she's innocent, that doesn't detract from the suspicious circumstances and clear evidence Kurt wouldn't have, and couldn't physically kill himself. i've read his journals more times than i can count, there isn't much there to suggest mental breakdowns or any indication he contemplated suicide. kurt had some medical problems, doctors never helped and heroin alleviated his symptoms, he didn't take it to get high, he took enough to keep his symptoms at bay while he toured, and when he wasn't touring he was begging for medical help. unless i can be convinced otherwise, i'll judge the death of kurt on the shit i've read, seen, heard and deduced from the evidence. suicide is almost impossible if you look at it yourself, that and the police refused to make public any clear evidence of his suicide for far too long.
I remember seeing Pat Smear on mtv unplugged back in the day. Didn't know who he was. I'll forever see nirvana as a 4 piece now because that's how it was.
The "Rome incident" was NOT a suicide attempt, it was only Courtney Love who intentionally fed that rumour to the media as a part of trying to create this false story of Kurt being suicidal. And we all know where this all eventually ended up... JUSTICE FOR KURT COBAIN - WATCH #SOAKEDINBLEACH ...RIP KC
That stupid "headline lollapalooza" bullshit is to blame. He wanted to just chill and give up on music for a while. It's true, at 27 it's your last year for songwriting as an art form.
" It's true, at 27 it's your last year for songwriting as an art form".........yeah, yeah, yeah, tell that to the thounsands of song writers still producing quality tracks an well past your age limit bullshit!!!!!
Christopher Wackrow the lollapalooza intervention was bullshit. No one understood he didn't want to do that. Obviously he wasn't happy with what was going on. Listen to "you know you're right." It's the last track they recorded and it's pretty garbage. Kurt exhausted his creativity for that time being.
There is such a thing as music burnout. Not everyone needs to be a "lifer" in the creative music game. Creating Nevermind was enough, then In Utero, enough was enough. Take time off and recharge batteries. Not pressure to headline something that's going to make him even more self-conscious. The drug habit didn't help.

He was all of us.. badly treated, sensetive, angry, still peace-loving, too big hearted, restless souls and demons in our minds..
Don’t come to our shows and don’t buy our records."_

that....a great post. biz, thanks.....f
Minor fame but was essentially out of money lol.
After the Germs dissolved Pat Smear played with Nina Hagen and recorded two solo albums but they didn't go anywhere, as I stated before, it was thanks to Kurt Cobain asking him to join Nirvana that people went "Oh, it's that guy from the Germs, what an awesome band they were."
Again, all of this comes from Pat's own mouth as he mentions all of it in different interviews.
RastaSaiyaman
pat is a legend
“He’s alive?” 😂😂😂
Adam
ikr.. Dave made me laugh
I guess he didn't give a fuck. XD
💀
Nirvana was meant to be a 4 piece because for most studio songs Kurt played two guitars. This was the most prevalent in "In Utero".
+Daniel Souza Steve Albini didn't play any guitars on In Utero. Where do you get your info?
Pat's new part on Blew is pretty sweet.
+jwoods Bleach didnt fearure 2 guitarists. Jason Everman was listed on the album but didnt play on it. They gave him credit because it was his $600 that paid for the Bleach recording session.
JohnnyAppleseed ^^^ this is basically it
Yes.
At 11 years old in 1991 I remember waiting beside my cassette boom box for hours until Smells Like Teen Spirit came on so I could record it. I was finally able to get the song on an old Memorex purple and yellow cassette tape, and I listened to it over and over and over and over. My life changed that day.
!♥!♥!♥!
@@petermelnyk7664 that’s awesome!!
I always feel so sad when I hear Pats story about the last time he saw/ heard from kurt. It must’ve killed Pat thinking that he could have helped. And wasn’t there. I wonder how much of that played into the rest of his life and decisions
That’s deep!
The last moment with Krist Novoselic was kind of a lot harder, because they were friends since forever.
Like .. Michael Hutchinson called Kirt Penguilly and left a message..kirt said if he had got that message he would have seen him for sure. Last call to him ever.
Something about this, it's probably the saddest interview iv'e seen about Kurt's death by his band mates. You can see their pain in their eyes.
He was a troubled genius. Still so sad.
*THANK YOU* for posting this! ! ! I would like to say that Nirvana 1000% looked and sounded *PHENOMENAL* with Pat in the band.
Pat is and always has been an awesome human being besides an amazing talent
This is from Foo Fighters ‘Back and Forth’ documentary BTW.
funny sidenote, Pat was in Prince's video for Raspberry Beret
Yup, that's Pat sitting in white garbs in front of Lisa' s piano.
Ha! That's hilarious! How strange...
Nice story, but no it wasn't.
2:55 the whole time dave is speaking you can hear the sadness in his voice. Omg just hearing that makes me sad
4:09 dave's eyes says everything about how dave feel, when kurt is gone.
I never realized how big a fan I was of pat until a few months ago. man is a god
Pat, don’t feel bad about Rome. You did the right thing.
Pat Smear Living punk rock legend.
Pat is seriously adorable. It's the same cuteness of a happy baby and I mean that in the sweetest way.
they say when in Rome.... lol.. But what's interesting here is the last phone call between Dave and Kurt. Kurt told him IT WAS AN ACCIDENT, IT WAS A MISTAKE. While Courtney says it's a suicide attempt.. hmmm let that sink in.
well Kurt is hardly going to tell Dave he tried to kill himself is he?
Guess who had the Roofie script..........
@@Penny_Royalty Exactly the degrading comment towards Courtney are insane
No matter how many years pass, this always guts me. And now that they are getting older, watching talk about kurt. Just feels fucken sad.
Krist almost never takes part of these kind of videos
/b/ it was on a foo fighters documentary dude, of course he wasn't involved
/b/ my GUESS is that Krist has been the most affected by degrees of pain out of all them individually, so he prefers not to discuss it to anyone, especially on camera or interview. That's why he remains obscure in the whole post-nirvana legacy.
HostDisorder stop being ignorant
He grew up with him. It is more like family for Krist.
Krist and Kurt were friends when they were back in high school, they had spent many years together. I have seen Krist talking about Kurt in interviews before and you can tell that it's still very painful for him, probably more so because him and Kurt weren't on the best terms when Kurt died.
Rest Easy, Kurt! 24 years and you're like yesterday to me.
pat seems like such a good man. might have been a part of some wild things but a good heart
These dudes from nirvana have true love for their buddy. You can tell how genuine they are.
Pat you are a legend too man....
Looking back after all of these years, and its so fkn sad.
Now Dave and Pat have to go through this again.
Pat Smear is a really great and humble Person.
It’s 2019 and ppl still think he killed himself
please shut the fuck up and get over it. she didnt kill him, she definitely drove him to suicide though, she was definitely more than 50% of why he did it
He did kill himself. I don't think Courtney Killed him. However I do believe her negative influence on him played a role in him killing himself.
Let me guess you watched soaked in bleach and now believe he was never depressed right?
@@christianmorales8978 I honestly don't get why people still are having this discussion tbh. I believe the negative influence Courtney had over Kurt played a role, but she def didn't have him killed.
That's what's really sad about this whole thing. El Duce, Courtney Love's father, and the fact she doesn't take Tom Grant to court is more than enough proof. But Kurt is not the only music artist that died in a mysterious way.
Im 40 and this is my high school days fav band Nirvana I just loved it til now..
Anyone else cry when all apologies started playing?
Yah3x1 no. Only you.
Me....
Did you have something do with the death of Kurt Cobain? ect
Nobody seemed to give her a lie detector though, I'm damn certain she killed Kurt, or had something to do with it..
For me, Pat is the 4th member of Nirvana
Pat smear was just as important as kurt, dave, or krist when it came to nirvana. His guitar style made nirvana complete. Being a fan of early punk, especially the germs and loving the early Seattle scene, I was so excited to see Pat join.
You create yourself as a performance God, a genuinely good one at that and you don't think of the pressures of having to be that night after night, having and obligation to be what people wanted to see as, and so quickly...Had to be a crazy feeling.
"He's alive?" LOL!!!!!!!!!
I know, right? it's so obvious the way pat basically rolls his eyes after saying that was the last time he ever spoke to or saw him. lol, i wonder what his pseudonym is now, Bill Bailey?
Bruh
I was 19 years old in 1994, I was and still a'm big fan from Nirvana, I miss this great band.

Anyone know what documentary this is from?
Back and Forth, a Foo Fighters documentary
I loooooooove pat smear!!!!!!!! Germs were rocking!! Loved listening to them 25 years since I was a teen and sooo glad he came into nirvana.....I bet he knows so many people and crazy stories. ...he is sooo under rated....I am really glad these guys are opening up and final,y starting to talk about nirvana days......we are getting older and the stories they have, stories they have, good and bad....
He wanted to die. I feel sorry for their guilt. He'd never want that.
nihl hinz oh, the guilt
NO he didn’t! Everything changed when Frances was born!
I remember that day they announced it. I wasn't a huge fan yet. But I felt so bad for him, his daughter, his wife, and the band. I was the same age as he was. It's sadder now, as I am 51.
Man that unplug was really good.
Nice interviews. Cobain must have been a decent guy as all of them looked deeply affected by his passing.
And isn't he just one of the greatest songwriters ever? When "All Apologies" played the hair stood up, the chill came through, and tears welled up like they always do. Simply timeless.
Pap Smear
It’s a question that’s been asked 1000 times….could you imagine if Pat had him been home to answer the phone that day!? Pat’s words there break my heart every time I hear it.
should rename this dave grohl talks about kurt more of him than pat in the clip no escape from dave
Hey you know are right.Lol I stop watching when I realized it was all about Dave
Yeah this is just a clip from a Foo Fighters documentary so it kinda was dumb to make us think it was just Pat
I am totally plugged into the energy Pat Smear puts out on stage.
No way his real name is "Pat Smear".
Pat is the shit Kurt made the right choice a real punk and just a real person never fake for show!!!!
This is too sad.
"Hey man i don't want you to die" Damn that hit me very hard.

Love this dude ❤️ thank you for your years in nirvana
When in Rome ...
I love how Pat always seems so happy when I see him in video
3:19 man that's rough
This is amazing thanks for uploading it
Man, I hate when grunge musicians say they never wanted to be famous. You can stop any fucking time you want to. That's what I hated most about that time, the fake humbleness.
Johnny Threefour You can genuinely want to be famous for what you’re creating but be overwhelmed by and hate the consequences.
kurt cobainbpersonally delivered 100s of copies of love buzz to his entire label staff and local radio stations until they eventually played it against their will.
he put much effort into huge recognition.
He wanted people to listen to his music allright and yes, he probably wanted to be famous. That was before he knew what it was like to be famous though. Apart from the fact they were insanely famous overnight. A person is allowed to learn to hate that, even when they didn't have a clue what that would be like before.
he never really "hated" being famous in the first place persay, he just couldn't take it, it caught all up to him.
Although he later claimed otherwise, Cobain was on board with the polished production of _Nevermind_ and hook-oriented MTV smashes like "Smells Like Teen Spirit" and "Come as You Are" that helped the him achieve international success.
Pat Smear. The Germs, Nirvana and Foo Fighters!!!!!
Young Pat looks like Barack Obama or is it just me?
omgnoob89 they're both mixed, so..
Obama looks like Pat as he was born later than Pat
It's just you.
omgnoob89 now you're just insulting Pat

If anyone wants to search online, I'm sure you'll find the proper story.
quality satire
Several stories said it was Eddie Van Halen. And that a filmmaker named Dave Markey filmed it.
Ok, the Van Halen thing confused me. I didn't know if I was crazy or my beer soaked brain was playing tricks on me so I looked it up. It was Hulk Hogan. Here is an excerpt from an interview with Pat Smear, www.wrestlingforum.com/rants/2231561-hulk-hogan-met-nirvana-bad.html
I felt bad for Pat, especially when he said he thought hulk didn't like him.
Thank you very much for sharing this
pap smear
Joel Kil wow, you were able to discern that all by yourself?
yeah...i smell it
Joel Kil hey!!! You got the joke 40 years later.......good job

Its actually Pat Smear
Feel so sad 1:27 Grohl talking about the unhappiness of tour, seeing Kurt walk off looking down. Kurt gave so much to all of us who were touched by his music. Wish he would have done something to cope, like how the Beatles got too big so they stopped for the most part playing live. Kurt is an American Treasure.
Does Dave really think that Kurt killed himself?
Sadly I don't think we'll ever know the truth.
He doesn't. I watched an interview with him a while ago and while he didn't literally said that, he suggested that he believes Courtney or someone else killed him.
@@icedviking4485 What interview?
I had the "Man I just don't want you to die." Conversation with my best friend about 6 months before he died of an overdose.....

She killed him.
Absolutely. And everyone in this clip knows it.
of course. my dad is also superman
Stop! Bitch is crazy, but Kurt killed himself. He wasn't in a good state of mind.
fuck of gutter face
for those who don't accept Kurt was murdered, i implore you to look at the evidence and decide for yourself. the coroners reports, the scene photos, his wife's motives for doing so... the list goes on man.
I remember watching the mtv news live when this was going on. Seems like yesterday.
Fake news headline.... Dave talks more then Pat does.
He wasn't protected in his teens, he doesn't know how to protect himself as he entered the adulthood. So painful.
That stupid "headline lollapalooza" bullshit is to blame. He wanted to just chill and give up on music for a while. It's true, at 27 it's your last year for songwriting as an art form.
You have to understand that Kurt was fighting a battle within himself all his life. Blaming it on any one thing isn't the answer.
" It's true, at 27 it's your last year for songwriting as an art form".........yeah, yeah, yeah, tell that to the thounsands of song writers still producing quality tracks an well past your age limit bullshit!!!!!
Dangerous Dan I'm just speaking from experience but yeah there are some guys that can make it to like 32-34 and still do well. Kurt Vile Elliot smith
*Pat Smear is a legend with or without Nirvana.* _The fact that he was in Nirvana just makes him more of a legend._

Hearing the story about kurts last few days it kills me inside and how dave said I don't want you to die got me a little teary eyed and of course then the death killed us glad pat was there for the time being
I just get the feeling that Dave never really cared for Kurt. It's just a gut feeling.
They weren't really friends and Kurt treated him like shit.
@@frankelder1158 Howd kurt treat him like shit?
