Please learn how to properly pronounce the terminology before attempting to voice the script. "Chelicerae" should be pronounced "Ke-liss-eh-ray," and I think someone in the comments below caught you pronouncing "arthropods" as "anthropods."
Yeah. This is driving me crazy. Also, when they mention sea spiders, they are showing an arrow crab instead. I mean, what the hell? There are tons of sea spider pictures to use!
Had an irrational fear of spiders all my life until I went to a wildlife sanctuary last year. Got to hold a big scorpion and several tarantulas, putting on a brave, enthusiastic face in front of my kids, to teach them to overcome their fears. Now I can catch a huntsman without harming them so i can bring them outside, without resorting to smacking them with my chancla.
We don’t have huge deadly spiders in Australia. Our biggest spiders are average in size compared to the biggest outside Australia and the potentially deadly spiders are not big at all. The reputation we have is not accurate at all. But drop bears……..they are pure killers like small pox. No one is safe from drop bears ☠️
@bbb-k6v every animal, actually any living thing in Australia tries to hurt you or much worse. I mean just look up the Gympie Gympie plant in Oz and what it makes some people do to themselves.. I think you might get what I'm saying.. it's pain that lasts for months sometimes and alot of people simply can't take it anymore.. really scary.. beautiful place nonetheless.
I don't know why Spiders get such a bad rap, because without Spiders mankind would find it hard to survive. Spiders consume 10000s of insects per year, which helps with stopping diseases.
Spiders are highly efficient hunters incredibly good at laying traps... Sounds familiar...? imagine that Goliath and Huntsman spiders were the norm... And some species of spiders may even be the size of a dog, some would also be able to run or jump faster than one...
That's just human nature. We naturally gravitate to the pretty birds and mammals. But, in reality the most important organisms in the ecosystem are usually the bacteria, insects, spiders and all of the other small flora and fauna. If the polar bears go extinct, it's a shame, but it isn't going to endanger the planet. Honey bees and other pollinating insects disappear and you have a huge problem.
I’ve always been fascinated by the mechanics of spiders. As stated the “hydraulics” used for their legs. The way they breathe and how they see. My favourite is the South American Bird Eater or the Goliath Bird Eater. I want one as a pet.
The hydraulics is, of course, the reason why they curl up when they die, as then there's nothing to oppose the rigor mortis of the muscles, but what I don't understand is how they manage to pump so rapidly.
One of the best presentations on arachnids that included the distinction from other arthropods going back deep into geologic time, so far back as Cambrian time there were creatures that were clearly chelicerates. I particularly liked mention that we humans are much more closely related to sharks (and even more primitive chordates and maybe even echinoderms) than are spiders and insects.
@@DavrossorvaD I don't know where the OP is from, but I'm from Octopi III (it was a play on his words: " spiders are from outer space, probably octopi too", as in not taking it that octopuses come from outer space as well as spiders, but from a planet).

Calling spiders "alien" might be the wrong word. There are more species of spiders than most others, maybe the non-spider looking creatures are the "alien" ones.
We should have goats produce silk like spiders do cuz actually we can do that and then we can have clothing made out of spider silk like material and after that we can wear the clothing and the clothing is like Kevlar but 10 times as strong. It's like wearing steel. Imagine making armor out of spider silk. That would be like you could stop a bullet just by standing there. Be like hey shoot me. It's just for fun. It's not going to hurt whatsoever LOL. You know cuz you're wearing a super armor made of silk from spiders. That is very strong. The strongest stuff ever imaginable well besides maybe some elements that we don't know about and forest Fields but that's future stuff. This is now stuff
Doesn’t stop the hydrostatic shock from inflicting damage to the body when the bullet impacts. Need a hard core to the clothing to absorb the impact. The Kevlar like aspect is just to stop penetration
It's about the visuals, not the verbal garbage. Better to watch almost any nature documentary with the sound off and music playing instead. "And one hundred billion million years ago when nothing became something and our god named evolution determined how things would be, the blah, blah, blah....." and so on.
“This video is narrator” 😂😂 But I know what you meant. Some people make mistakes, then there’s those like the reply above mine. There’s a big difference between the two, yet the former is the forgivable one.
There is one species that is mostly vegetarian. Once in a while, it will supplement with meat. Arachnids have not evolved like insects where there are numerous lifestyles.
That is correct. The theory of evolution describes change over time, or how things evolve. On a side note, that's not how quotation marks work and to appear truly stupid, the word "just" is in the wrong place. To diminish the importance of what a theory is, the average Troglodyte says "just a theory". Instead, this is just a display of bad punctuation. But in case you don't know (you don't) a theory is more
No thumbs up. The narrator has an American accent, but all the measurements mentioned are in the metric system. We don't use arbitrary systems of measurement that aren't grounded in the actual physical world we live in. Feet and inches are based on the human body and are therefore far easier to envsion and understand.
Canada uses metric and speaks like that… most of the world uses metric…. If you grew up with metric you could visualize it just as easily as you can anything else you’re familiar with. Also, bodies are all sorts of shapes and sizes. It really doesn’t help most to understand measurements.
Interesting and well done, thank you. It's just a shame that biological diversity is still attributed to "evolution". It's high time to take note of the current state of research. Random change and natural selection cannot explain the complexity of life. Summary: youtube.com/@longstoryshortvideos?si=FlMXjlIUIKbTLnIo General:

Oh like arthology
I was thinking the same. Anthropods would mean "Primate foot."

As alien as they appear, some spiders are strangely adorable.
Imagine living in a place that is full of spiders, some huge & harmless, some huge & deadly. Oh wait, that’s Australia 🇦🇺
Australia does have a reputation for its diverse spider population. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

I lived in aus for a year, suburbs of brissy, I once saw a redback in a mates jar...

There is not such a thing like "harmless" in australia.

The vision of jumping spiders, and the intelligence of especially portia, is very fascinating.
Love jumping spiders, Portia, is an amazing example of thought process in spiders.
Regards from South Africa
Absolutely. Thanks for watching!
A good story inspired by Portia, Children of Time, a novel by Adrian Tchaikovsky.
👌
@@ImranMusic I saw someone mention that book on another video, it sounds interesting.
Iam not afraid of small spiders but the big ones make my arachnophobia kick in 😅😅
Agree but they're generally less harmful to humans than smaller ones. Thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts!
I don’t mind big chill spiders, like tarantulas, and iddy biddy spiders. It’s the ones the size of coins that freak me out

A chapter on evolution of burrowing and trapdoor spiders please!
Shoutout to my idol, the Bolas Spider.
Very informative video indeed.
spiders are from outer space, probably octopi too, they all came here frozen in ice from an exploded planet somewhere
Lol.
However, the occupants of Octopi II have evolved and become technologically advanced, since then, and intend to visit us soon.
Where are you from then?

Technically a camel spider is a hugh mite.

Yes, it's true. Scientists have successfully genetically engineered goats to produce milk that contains proteins from spider silk. Thanks for sharing!
