I was more impressed with the car when I saw it in person. I liked the size, heavy feel, the design and the color was nice. Lets hope Vinfast gets more updates to the software to fix some of the glitches. I wish there was a Vinfast dealership here in Colorado so I could test drive it to understand how it drives and feels on the road.

I leased a 2024 VF8 ECO model in Canada two months ago, and so far, I’m very satisfied with the car. As a daily commuter driving 100 km every weekday, I’ve found the VF8 to be reliable and enjoyable to drive. My daily average battery consumption is 18.5 kWh per 100 km, which is quite efficient for my needs.
One aspect that often gets overlooked is VinFast’s customer service. In my experience, it’s among the best-very respectful and responsive, making the overall ownership experience even better.
It’s important that only those who actually own and drive the car provide reviews. It doesn’t make sense for people who’ve never owned the VF8 to critique it. For context, I’ve also driven a Tesla, and I wasn’t impressed. The interior of a Tesla felt like junk to me. While VinFast’s interior isn’t on the level of a Lexus or Mercedes, it’s definitely a step above Tesla’s.

Vinfast is a new car company that is just barely starting out so the existence of those "quirks" do not surprise me. It will be interesting to see, if they can manage to survive the next 10 years, how their cars will improve. Personally, I hope they can make it through until then as it will be in the best interest of the American consumer to have more and more options available to us.
The people who took chances on the first Tesla's did so knowing they were early adopters and feeling they were given the privilege of being so. The EV's were less likely to have been their only vehicles and so it was much easier to be accepting of the numerous flaws, bugs and QC issues that were due to come even though they were so expensive. Accepting the mindset of an "early adopter" will be necessary and has to be the approach you have with Vinfast otherwise don't bother...The fact that they have chosen to produce vehicles targeting the average consumer is honestly what has me most concerned for their future. Those with more expendable income are more able to deal with the inconveniences of new product "quirks" then those who may be counting on their vehicle as a primary/only mode of transport.
People forget entirely how crappy Tesla's were quality wise in the beginning and some Tesla critics, myself included, would argue they aren't that great even now. Though I admit, my largest gripes with Tesla has always been related to their purposely overinflated range claims. The greatest blame for that however lies not just with Tesla for making those range claims but also with the members of the automotive press that allowed their love and support for the promise of EV technology to deeply, DEEPLY impact their ability to remain objective. Very few reviewers were/are willing to call Tesla out on those claims then or now.
Decisions and practices like that can create long lasting issues when it comes to new technologies. In a country made up of folks as stubborn as we can be here in the US it can lead to consumer mistrust and resentment ultimately creating resistance to widespread adoption. IMHO this type of excessive praise without honest criticism has other consequences that can be just as harmful. For example, "I feel" it has fostered, even encouraged, an almost cult like mentality among some (note that I said SOME) Tesla owners to the degree fair criticisms are treated as all out attacks but I suppose that is a topic for another discussion.
Many owners agree that initial Tesla's were basically throwaways after 10 years as far as quality control and components go with the battery pack likely to be the longest lasting component in the car unless aggressively maintained yet they are still well loved. With this being true of what many consider to be the gold standard in EV's, why does the EV automotive press continue to be so hard on other brands?

Jordan is comparing this vehicle to the million different cars he gets to drive, all having varying features. Yes you’re right, Elon and Tesla do most things better than everybody else, but if you’ve watched any of Jordan‘s videos, he’s equally critical on Tesla, Rivian, Ford… many other brands. If you don’t like his style, don’t watch the videos. If you wanna spend your money on a piece of junk like a VF8, then spend your money on a piece of junk.

246 Miles ! Thats excellent considering what a heavy beast the VF8 is. Fit and finish both high grades, the AC shutting off is not a quirk come on Jordon everyone else nows it did it to conserve energy. It's great that it did that, roll down your window . Base trim interior -base trim..sucks..just like base trim in most cars. Charging speds are very good , top speed 143 kW is what I seen Francie get, she even was pulling 107kW @ 64% when she started charging after her software update in Kansas. Bottom line it charges 20-80% in 30 minutes. Thats what matters not actual speed..loook at Rivian for example what a pain in th arse sitting for 40-45 minutes just to get to 80% .and same with all the other big battery vehicles ..that dont go the range they advertise..

ID 4 Interior quality seats, lumbar support , softwa materials better than VinFast .
ID 4 works great for me running Uber but honestly the VF8 would work just as well if not better in some respect. Jordan you guys should see if anyone local to you has the Pro version of the VF8 that you could test ..400+hp 0-60 times and see if the interior upgrades /rather how much of an improvement getting the glass roof and better seats make..

I opted for 15,000 miles a year and my payment is nothing down, $351 a month for three years. There are some software issues that bug me but it all works right now pretty well. I did have an issue in West Bend Wisconsin when I went to a EV connect station at Boucher Chevrolet. I talked to the hotline and they said their station was working properly, that I should talk to Vinfest about the issue. When I spoke to Vinfast they advised me to use a different type of charger. I asked if they would fix it so that I could use this type of charger in the future and they basically said nothing about fixing it, and said I should use a different kind of charger again. That wasn't very impressive to me. I am looking forward to more chargers being installed in my area in the future. I drive a lot long distance in my area and that would be very helpful. I had a level 2 charger installed in my garage a while back and that's working out well. Cost me about $1,100 to run the electric and the Vinfast comes with its own charger. It only charges at 25 kW/hour though. I'm thinking about getting an Emporia charger that would charge at 40 kW per hour. Anyone have any comments?

I never saw the turtle appear in the top-left, so I suspect you could have gone quite a bit further. 😜 BTW yes, I have been told by VF, and have circumstantial evidence to concur that it WILL precondition if you use the onboard maps to navigate to a charger. Can't just be to an address, you DO have to choose the actual charger, and it will then be ready to charge at up to 150kW if the charger can deliver.

I leased a Vinfast right after I saw the video when Francie picked up her Vinfast. $250 to lease an EV, what a deal. I have to agree that it has a lot of glitches in the software. FYI, there is another software update that involves correcting the 12 volt battery issue. I will be getting this update 8/8. Their ADDOS has a lot of issues in my opinion. Every morning there is some error associated with the ADDOS system. 3 days ago, I got 5 errors whcih shut down the entire ADDOS system. Regarding the stereo, I don't seem to agree with you. In the beginning there was a software issue where the stereo sounded like blow speakers which will require you to turn off/reset the car to fix the issue. I am an audiophile and I don't consider the stereo high end, but it does sound decent with adequate bass for an entry level car, I did set the EQ tone settings to improve the sound. The last software update fixed this issue. I do have a major disappointment/complaint that the navigation does not have turn by turn audio instruction. Even a 10 year old $50 Garmin has this feature. Also why does this car not have heated mirrors? Also the lack of saving your personal settings is STUPID. Bottom line, the tech is outdated.
But the range you manage to get is what I get with my Vinfast. If you don't use the AC you will probably get the EPA rated range. But would I buy this car, NO. There are better options. With the government incentive and the Vinfast buydown made the lease a deal. There is a lot of room for improvement.

Objectively speaking, this car is bad because of its price, anyway the import fee is high, let's see if the version made in America will have a better price. I know many people complain about the quality of the car, it's really bad, the frame and components that make it up are very good, I appreciate the chassis of this car as being very good but it makes the car too heavy, the features are flawed. petty and unreasonable, the home screen makes me feel like Android phones from nearly 10 years ago, that design is so bad, I think they completely redesigned it. But that mileage is not bad considering that this is a very heavy car, I know many people don't like it but I personally rate it well and considering that this is a new car brand and the vf8 is the first electric car model. In their hands it's still a lot better than the first tesla cars ever produced, if they hang on for the next 5 - 10 years and continue to improve I think all the problems will be solved. I think people will also give more objective reviews and I don't recommend buying it, but isn't that the same with all the Japanese and Korean cars that first entered the US market? As long as this car company continues to exist, I think they will. Likewise, there will be a place.

This is what I mean about ignorant comments. I don’t have to actually drive it. Somebody else is videotaping while they are driving it and I am experiencing what it’s like to drive it. That’s the whole point of these videos, is to help a consumer make decisions and get what’s important to them in a vehicle without having to go sit in every car manufactured. That’s why the other spec team is so great, they test every vehicle the exact same, on important real world tests that will come in handy when deciding which vehicle you want to buy, or will come in handy when you’re on a road trip and need to know about charging and range and other things. If you don’t like what is being shown on the video turn the video off and watch something else, why do you feel the need to make negative comments about facts. This car is not good compared to other electric vehicles, though likely much better than Francie’s last car… but that’s not what Jordan is comparing it’ll the VF8 to is it… 😉

It’s so hard to read these ignorant comments about an honest and fair car review. Jordan is comparing this new electric vehicle to the rest of the electric vehicle market, which is what his job is. This vehicle is an absolute piece of junk. The owner experience is way worse then many other EV’s, and it doesn’t compare to many other cars. For the price that you pay, there’s no reason that anyone should purchase this over many other electric vehicles. Francie is amazing, but she has not driven 7 million electric vehicles for her job for the last many years like Jordan has. She is comparing this vehicle to her old Subaru, naturally it’s gonna be dramatically better. That doesn’t mean that it’s good compared to other vehicles in its class, which is all that Jordan is showing. If you don’t like watching the videos… stop watching them, but also stop saying things that make you look stupid.
