Using the type of tool for the hunt really does give a better chance to the game hunted then lots of other weapons of today. A well placed spear is as deadly as any bullet, I’ve watched Tim for years and no there is no question hunting runs in his veins. Thanks Slockmaster for sharing your journeys. 🐻🎥💯👍💪🏽
I’ll preface this by saying I 1,000% agree and approve of Tim using his spear! That said, I’ve never been a major proponent of the “give the game a sporting chance” theory. Historically you used the most effective tools possible. If you choose to handicap yourself by a specific method of take, that’s perfectly fine. For a long time I used only my long bows having grown bored with compounds. I also use an iron sighted 41mag & an old school Hawken 50 instead of a more modern in-line. Unfortunately, the “give the game a sporting chance by using just a (insert whatever primitive weapon)” is used by a lot of anti-hunters against gun and bow hunting. It’s a dangerous trap that even hunters can fall into. I’ve seen many trad bow hunters take this philosophy, as well as a lot of fly fishermen.
@ Jim Lahey Apparently you missed the point: spears are great, use thin if you want to. But *we* in the hunting community need to be mindful about saying things that the anti hunters say such as “gives the animals a fighting chance.” But as to older style weapons, I merely posted some of what I have used. Just swapped back to a compound bow & also hunt with an LR308 type rifle that is suppressed.
Lol him hunting the bears with a spear is so bad ass though. But if anything though spears just give a bear more chance of a slow death or killing the hunter and dying after. Obviously he's proficient enough with a spear but other people may not be. Either way though spears Obviously can take down a bear but a 30-06 is definitely easier to kill with.
I been watching your videos forever and there's only one thing I can say. You sir are a stud!! It's amazing to watch the situations you put yourself in to harvest animals on your terms. Thanks for all the years of entertainment and knowledge.
Tim, I bought your blowdart gun back in 2018, during pandemic I went hare, fish, and fox hunting with it. over the last 4 years I've been able to get good enough to hit the ass of a mite on a fly's wing. thanks to you, I got closer with my ancestors and was able to get 7 rabbits between 3 trips, 4 foxes, and dozens of fish. water hunting with darts was definitely a learning curve with water dynamics and light perception. thanks again. best of wishes to you and your family with your future endeavors!

Mr.Wells, to be under your tutelage would be amazing. This primal hunt along with others drives something inside of me. A feeling that can't be tamed. I need to walk your footsteps. And then create my own.
I've done a lot of hunting over the years. Fox, Bob cat, white tail, even gator. But I haven't had the stomach to hunt a bear. For one I like them. But the main reason is they scare the ever living shit out of me. Few years back I was out hunting for white tail with my brother in Georgia when a big bear started up the tree after us, my brother put two 9mm in its side and it took off. So my hat is off to you for taking on such a beast with a pointy stick. I could never do such a thing.

Even if the cameraman has a backup rifle, it is no guarantee you won’t get chewed up bad by the grizzly. Crazy amount of guts and courage. I have great respect for this man. This man is a fkn legend. And my role model. Love the snarky sneaky comments he makes in the videos , very rated R 😂😂😂. Not sure if anyone else catches them but I surely do. Thanks for an amazing video! So badass! I’m buying a spear
My first thought -was - be careful what you ask for! Baiting in an apex predator to your location, with just a couple of spears between you and the bear - is serious hunting. These animals are very fast and can climb trees faster than you can run on flat ground. This took skill - but it also took courage to invite a man-killer to come within throwing distance!
I'm let down Tim. I wanted to see the Sow and Cubs come in. She was the star and greatest pucker factor that ever lived and made the Slockmasters screen.
Imagine just living your best life, enjoying the sun after a long slumber. And then Tim wells shows up. I’d be more scared than if Chuck Norris was hunting me down 😂
Awesome hunt and outstanding throw! I kind of know the adrenalin rush you got when I reached for a 575 pound Siberian Grizzly! At 5 foot 8 inches and 150 pounds, I was chosen to wrestle this grizzly named Teddy, in a bar match in Texas. As I reached for Teddy he stood on his hind legs and towered over me! I stepped in and grabbed a front leg as I slipped behind him. I used my low leverage to pull him down onto his back. Seconds later he was on his feet, grabbed me and began mopping the floor with me. He wasn't muzzled at all, but he didn't have his front teeth, so he just grabbed me with his mouth and made me feel like a very tiny rag doll! I think the only reason I was chosen over some much larger guys was the fact that I had served in the Marine Corps and was also the bouncer for that bar! I had already thrown several of the potential bear wrestlers out of the bar because of unruly behavior! Of course having learned mixed martial arts while in the Marine Corps might've helped. Our Sensei (teacher) just happened to live next door to me and used me for practice!
