- It's REAL. My last year as a professional triathlete has started. Wow! I have mixed feelings about it after so many years in triathlon. This is my passion. My Life. I had so many ups and down in my career. Sure winning the ironman world title in 2014 is something special that changed my life. But not only that. Now looking back at my career going into my last year i can truly say i am proud. But i also have so many things left i want to do and that i am now able to. Just follow my journey with me around the world. Thank you for watching, Sebi!

Sebi’s accomplishments have inspired me to push myself to do triathlons. I am still blown away by his part in the iron mind video. He is an amazing athlete and person. Just his presence is motivating
You were the winner of the very first Ironman race I ever watched live, Kona 2014. That was the same time I started my own triathlon journey as a way to stay fit, and discovered the amazing triathlon community in Toronto, Canada. Your battles with the popular Lionel Sanders in the following years were epic to follow and watch. Thank you for being such an amazing triathlete and human being! Your inspiration to all athletes and age groupers is far more than you probably realize. Thank you for sharing your last pro year with your fans, I look forward to cheering for you in the 2023 season. Your fan from Canada!
I have no idea how it must feel but I'm sure whatever is next you'll continue to live a fulfilled life and find ways to continue inspiring others

Actually your Kona win in 2014 has been the first complete IronMan race I have watched. Setting up the alarm belt and watching you crushing the field on the bike has become common. I will miss you in the field. Best wishes for your farewell tour and the up-coming life in front of you.

Toller Bericht, geht echt nah, 2002 war ich auch erstmals auf Langstrecke, tja, ist schon ne Nummer gewesen, gerade in dieser Zeit.
- ich habe null Zweifel, Du hast noch einige hoch interessante Sachen zu erleben - und wer immer das Gleiche macht muss sich ja nicht wundern wenn nix neues geschieht und die Lebens-Experience bereichert, auf zu neuen Discovers und Adventures - und es gibt auf unserem Planeten zigtausende unfassbar begeisternde Möglichkeiten zu tollen Erlebnissen und Entdeckungen.
Die Zeitspanne dafür ist begrenzt - also auf zu weiteren, anderen tollen und auch erfüllenden Erlebnissen.
V... wär noch was gewesen, tja, da haben dir andere 10-15 Min insgesamt abgenommen, leider sind wir da nicht zusammengekommen.
Aber weiter gehts. Wir werden sicher weiter hier und da etwas von Dir sehen.
Vielleicht ist aber nun auch doch etwas Zeit, zu schauen und erleben wie Schwimmtraining besser geht.
In jedem Fall alles Gute für dich & Familie, bleibt fit und gesund.

All the best sebi. Maybe you can focus on youtube after retirement from pro field, but still joining races for fun, giving tips / advise / training method/ equipment review( bike, shoe, fuel ) for all new triathlete in the world. I guess your sponsors will agree to this idea and keep sponsoring you.

Was ich mich frage: Geht das? Triathlon ganz an den Nagel hängen? Nicht nur physiologisch, sondern auch mental, weil es das Ich über so viele Jahre geprägt hat, muss das nicht wenigstens auf Agegroupebene weitergehen?
Gute Frage, ich werde es herausfinden. Im Moment kann ich nur vermuten. Das Problem ist, ich werde den Sport niemals “nur so zum Spaß” machen können. Wenn man quasi sein ganzes Leben darauf hin optimiert hat in dieser einen Sache wirklich gut zu sein kann man nicht auf einmal auf halbgas schalten. Sport werde ich auf jeden Fall weiter machen, 2024 werde ich noch ein paar Gravel Rennen fahren. Dem Triathlon werde ich auf eine andere Weise erhalten bleiben.
