Now that I have a good paying career with some spare money, I’m realizing how much shopping is pushed on us through social media. Especially for girls, influencers make it seem normal to never wear the same outfit twice, go out to eat every other day, and always be getting new beauty products and things that just aren’t necessary! It takes a lot of discipline to not give into it. Financially literate people are the ones who don’t look rich from the outside.
I agree! The amount of freakin advertising is pushed down our throats is insane
this is so true. whenever i have extra money i find myself wanting to spend it on unnecessary things like beauty products, trendy clothes, eating out. social media definitely has a huge effect because we’re always seeing the next “new” “must have” thing
I deleted social media and unsubstantiated from emails to online shopping best way to save money 😅 and ignore all your friends for a while

Get off social media. You should've gotten off of it years ago.
This was me at her age. 60 k in cc debt and HELOC account with a mortgage and car payment. I got so sick of living like that and feeling so scared all the time. I got two jobs and became so frugal. Paid it all off and just paid off my mortgage 2 days ago. 100 percent debt free at 41. Thank you God

A common theme I've noticed across these audits is to never quit a job without another one already started.
Especially if you don't have the 6 months of living expenses saved!
I've never understood this. I literally can't not have a job. I can't imagine it being different for literally anyone else who has bills
@@cjc2611 - Same here. I have a fully funded emergency fund and the idea of not having a job makes me uneasy.
I swear this social media era be telling people to quit if you aren't in love, because life is too short. well you know life will be shorter without a means to live...
Actually I did this! I had a years worth of expenses saved up and a partner who could provide me health insurance.
I was able to leave a toxic work environment, and focus on finding the right next job. It worked out well for me!
This dude was so much calmer than he is now... Hahaha. Funny to see him just nervous laughing and the other person just not caring about their life.
He has become way more confident in his role and in front of a camera I think .
He's more entertaining now
He's also able to talk less loud because of the microphones now, they're much better.
I'm 30 and I have to say this to those younger than me. GET OFF SOCIAL MEDIA! You do NOT need an artisan coffee everyday to be happy. Your home does not have to look like the home decor and home reno accounts you follow. You do not need to wear a brand new outfit every single day. Also, you do not need shapeware or 30 makeup products and face serums that costs hundreds of dollars. You do not need home delivery meal services. The world never used to be this way. I've watched a few of these videos already and each of them the person is spending on things we have been conditioned by scrolling to believe that we need. We don't. You don't. Turn it off, it's so depressing and we do not need to prove to an imaginary audience that you're happy when you're not.
Facts carol, facts !
Unless you make money out of it I totally agree. Damn, I understand now why the country aint gonna work financially period. I dont understand my generation of people who get into gigantic amount of consummer debt!! How arent they crying every single day for most of day??? I'm terrified for us being elderly !!
This comment needs to be pinned! 💯
Is smiling ,laughing and acting chill/relaxed about serious and negative life events a new trend? I notice this with many younger people and it's baffling to me.
Louder for the people in the Back. !!!!!!
I don't even have any debt and watching these videos is inspiring me to get out of debt...
Nor me, keeps me on the straight and narrow. Temptation hits sometimes I watch Caleb and it's like being in an AA meeting for finances.

Haha. I feel the exact same. It's more like, I need to stop useless spending and add to my savings more than I am.

Once I got hit with a credit card bill of 3,000 USD. I had no idea how to pay it until I looked at my bank statement. So many Uber eats and Doordash. I realized that their fees and tip were 25% of my order. Cooking at home and meal prepping saved me about $250 a month in "wasted expenses."
We're in the middle of quickly saving the deposit and first rent to move, and just by going to the grocery store and cutting 99% of eating out we've saved almost $500 each paycheck. We fell into a bad habit after the lockdowns, it's nice to finally break out of it
God food delivery takes up a huge chunk of my wiggle room money. One time I tried to add it all up and I was too scared by the number it was approaching. And it's not even that I dislike cooking but it's just so easy...
My son does door dash and he showed me one time that he delivered one single Taco Bell burrito just a few blocks from the restaurant for $14. 😮 Cooking can be fun and rewarding, friends!
Same, I added up my November doordash and we spent close to $1k. I deleted the app right there and then started cooking. I also lost weight.
deleting food delivery apps and NOT re-downloading(ever!) will be the easiest money saving decision you ever make. if you feel like you are in a habit you can't break or out of control, just remember that it only takes 14 days of discipline to break a habit
440 on a equinox even a new one is outrageous, dealership really scammed her on that one
Yeah, she got bullied hard
Car prices are ridiculous right now. Cars are selling way over what I would consider a good price and people are buying them. So the market is garbage.
69k mile equinox is about the same as a 369k mile Toyota/Lexus product. buying based on miles is not an intelligent decision.... but clearly these people aren't making intelligent decisions
She scammed herself thinking she could afford a $20k car loan while only making $24k a year.
@@brocal45 She really scammed herself by quitting her full time job with zero plan.
"I know I can't afford to pay any of my debts, but let me go ahead and quit my job just because I don't want to talk to people". I truly do not understand how some of these people think.
Call center jobs, especially customer-facing is SOUL-CRUSHING.
That said, I 100% agree.
Never leave a job without ANY other job lined up.
Even if you have to go to a lower-paying job, at least you'll have SOME income while you're looking for a better one.
Yh I don’t blame her cause customer service jobs aren’t it…I think the main issue is the fact she’s not putting full effort into instacart and ubereats cause there are good opportunities if you put time in.
They don't. This millenial generation is soo incredibly screwed its amazing (especially the women). Im ashamed to be apart of that generation. At least im financially sound i guess.

@@anonymity2882 that’s such a weird thing to say 😂
One thing I've noticed about social media is that they push this thing where you can just pick up quit a job and move to another state like it's fairly easy. You have to have a plan if you're going to make a big move like that.
Mad props to this woman for confronting these difficult issues! It may take some time, but you can get over this!! ✊

I grew up with a father that had the financial literacy of a 16 year old. I learned from his mistakes as we struggled as a family. I don’t have debt and have multiple income streams. Still learning everyday.
Unfortunately same .. my whole family .. like they say it has to be at least one person who will break from the financial curse
My father told me everything ok what to do but I didn’t listen out of rebellion. Now I’m playing catch up.
What are your income streams if you don’t mind me asking?
@@simsanonymous8117 earned (small business) and passive (rentals, interest, dividends)
When my step father got laid off from his marketing analyst position at Boeing he decided he would be a 'professional' poker player and constantly took my mom's money (including quarterly taxes from her 1099 job) and he was the one to manage their bills because mom said it stressed her out too much to pay the bills. Anyways what I got out of it was to not let anyone touch my money or try to avoid any reckless spending. Eating out is one thing. (We still do we need to reign it in a little but we are a family of four).
I am working full time (as of now) and doing a side hustle. I also have a household budget sheet and have only missed one credit card payment on my Amazon card for a literal charge of $15. But I do budget for coffee. But I'm not usually buying a crafted drink just brewed coffee or cold brew with added cream
This was super painful to watch and yet encouraging based on where I am at in my situation. I hope she can get it together. Honestly.
I hope so too!
I agree this made it hard to breathe and made my heart stop at a lot of moments. This is the kinda stuff that happens in my nightmares. It is true makes my situation look good at 25 dollars in the green every month.
For me it was “I have to talk to people and i don’t wanna do that” 😂
I don’t know why everyone is saying she doesn’t care/they hate the faces she makes. She seems like someone who is stressed as hell, but trying to mask it.
It’s easier to fake it til ya make it.
I hope she gets to a better place, those interest rates sound so scary!!
Good comment. People need to be nice. Especially when people are allowing themselves to be vulnerable like she is
Some of it is that it is generational behavior. There are speech and behavioral patterns that are common among certain age demographics, particularly ones who are heavy SM users.
Yea I don’t really see the problem with her. Probably just stressed about having to face it
Her "masking" her stress will lead her straight to bankruptcy. If your correct than she needs to face reality before its too late. Her "coping" strategy will seal her financial fate if she doesnt wake up to the facts.
She needs a job, not Uber and door dash, that can be a side job, but she needs a high paying job and career
she needs better work discipline, she cant hold a job if her life depended on it
That modeling career is over 🤣

A trend I notice is a lot of these people WASTE money on rides services, food delivery, or high car payments with the flimsy excuse that the new car was needed because it is "safe". Caleb Hammer is basically giving them obvious advice. A roommate of mine once told me I was "good at being poor". I'm in my 30's & have never used ride services, other than taxis when I worked as a teen & had no car, refuse to pay for food delivery service since I have a car, and drive a 99 Honda that is plenty safe enough. I eat out maybe one or twice a week but other than that I go grocery shopping at Aldi & if I can't find the item there I go to Walmart. Basically these people live like they are rich when they are not.
I like her personality. She seems to be aware of the problem she just doesn't have a plan to tackle the debt and she has no family support. Her situation is honestly scary. I'll pray for her.
This and your other videos hit hard. I'm 34 and just feel like I understood personal finance a couple years ago - and I have a degree in economics and a MASTERS degree in FINANCE. There is 0 personal financial education in our country unless you really seek it out. By the time I reached this point I was treading water for 15 years. Thank you for moving us towards personal financial stability.
I thought for years that you had to have a full-time job to open a Roth IRA... I only started investing/contributing last year (I'll be 28 in November). It's a hard pill to swallow, but it's always good to remind yourself that investing NOW is still better than NEVER investing at all. There are still tons of people out there that never invested with no savings/retirement and/or don't believe in investing for your future who will be in really shitty situations when they reach retirement age and won't actually be able to quit working because they won't have any money that was set aside in the past. The lack of financial literacy in our country is terrifying but channels like Caleb's are really great because it's the best way to actually reach Millennials/Gen Zs about what we actually were never taught in school growing up
This has been my favorite of all of them. I feel like she definitely was responsive and understanding of her situation. Definitely a good vid.
Yeah that's true!!

What I’ve done this year was difficult but needed. I stopped helping my family and as a first generation that was not easy because guilt and the stigma to help family is so ingrained, I got myself in a lot of debt that way. The way I could help my family would be with financial literacy and to help myself first with my debt before tackling on their debt.
That's very brave and impressive of you! I know that can be hard, I could not imagine. I'm proud of you!
Tell me about it Lexy! I recently moved in with my father he understands the hole I put myself and that I want to get out and doing the right things to get out of it. While my mother will ask me for help or assistance and I simply do not have the money because I’m attacking my debt like there’s no tomorrow. It hurts but I appreciate my father for understanding
bruh, I am still on this!! I am the only reliable one so everyone comes to me for help and I do it because....well...they are my family
Just now learning this. You can’t pour from an empty cup. I’ve been helping my dad pay for car insurance and it’s ~$500 in total. Instead I helped him find another source of income because I’ve been struggling so bad
I get it. We helped my parents recently buy new tires with the promise of getting it back. And then the year before I gave them $500 to fix their truck so they have a way to get around and they didn't pay it back with money really. But that's like 1100 bucks not really given back to me.
It’s so amazing to see young adults in this type of bind. I was never this amount of debt until I was nearly $6000 from a former relationship. I paid nearly everything in the relationship and he took advantage of me. Luckily, I was disciplined in paying it off in 6 months with my close friend who allowed me to stay with her for $200/month until I paid off all my credit cards off then I was able to pay $400/month until I moved out after 18 months staying with her. She was a huge help to get my finances on track.

I really appreciate her honesty. Budgeting, when you are NEVER taught to how to prioritize what and how, is not easy. I speak from experience.
It's got to be difficult to be a friendly face, and yet reveal so much cold, uncaring, unyielding truth to people, but I feel you do it really well. Hopefully, your kind advice is taken to heart. It's just too easy to get into this kind of financial trouble. I appreciate your work. Thank you.
I don’t know, but something about her makes me think she’s actually gonna make it out of her most serious debts. She seems understanding of what they are and WHY she has them (she mentions family emergencies with opening the CCs), and is actually accepting of the advice she’s getting from Mr. Caleb. Hope the best for her
Your a terrible judge of character my friend. She wasnt concerned with her debt one bit and just expects everything to "work out." Shes the exact type of person I would NEVER give a loan to. She clearly doesnt take her finances serious at all.
Unfortunately I can't agree. She was already in serious debt outspending her income and she gets an expensive car loan. That tells me she values nice things and convince over figuring out how to live within her means.
You don’t know why because you don’t pay attention to the video. She took out an expensive car loan after already having financial issues. Please don’t tell me you navigate life like this?
She reminds me a little of myself when I was younger. I’ve seen a few of these videos with people that don’t seem receptive at all. Sometimes it just takes someone telling you how to get out of a situation. You feel like you’re in too deep that there isn’t a way out.
I was 30 when I lost a house to foreclosure and a car to repossession. I considered bankruptcy but after consulting a lawyer I determined that my credit card and various other debt wasn’t worth filing bankruptcy over. My credit was already shot so I just set about contacting my creditors and settling all of my accounts. I went bare bones with my spending and clawed my way out. I’m much older now but am doing very well. I have a good emergency fund, very good credit and me and my husband are planning on buying a house this year. You can change your mindset. Sometimes you just need people to show you that it’s possible.
Lol

As I was watching this and you read off all these credit card debt, I started to think that this isn't solely her fault. These predatory credit companies do kinda prey on the financially unstable/illiterate group of people. This is also the reason why a lot of people fear Credit Cards. She seems like she knew her mistakes though, so hopefully she's able to recover pretty easily from this :)
I hope she's able to as well!
@@CalebHammer Seems like she needs to consolidate all her credit cards with a loan, cut all the extra useless spending, pay down that loan, get a job [youre 26, like come on], and save heavily and only use cash.
Also forgot, the most important one - COOK AT HOME.
I think it was the ceo of intel that said "in business, only the paranoid survive". This is good advice for the individual as well. Not sure "financial education" can fix a flippant attitude. People like myself couldn't eat or sleep if we were in this position. I was that way when I was young so I'm not just saying that because I'm middle aged. The auditor in this case was more stressed than the woman. You either have it (a healthy fear of being broke) or you don't.
It’s not predatory. She’s just a consumer of far too much than she can pay for. Entirely her fault. She eats out constantly and shops
She’s literally drowning! Financial literacy is so important and hopefully she gets things together.
I really hope she does!
Even with literacy, she got some bad habits to kick
Woah only started watching recently but it’s very cool to see what the old videos looked like. Awesome seeing how far you’ve come!
Watching you go over this and stressing more than they are is completely crazy. They are all just resigned to their debts...do you help them potentially budget better? Explain different approaches to attack their debts like snowball vs avalanche? The amount of financial illiteracy in this country is astounding along with the mindset that comes with growing up poor.

I too have and am in the same position. Dating someone with an incredible amount of discipline with his own money , savings and investments he really sat me down to get serious with my debt. Literally pushed me to leave my 20k a year job to now I’m making 45k not much for many but a blessing for me. It’s HARD cutting old spending habits … a lot of it for me is going out with friends which I have not done anymore along with eating out and I’ve seen a huge difference… I’ve paid off a good amount of debt off but as I said it’s not easy but not impossible …goodluck to anyone on the same boat. Credit card companies love eating you alive with their interests. Be smart

I started with small, attainable goals and have reached every one and continue to push. It doesn't have to be overwhelming, you got this girl :)
Just keeping track of 9 CCs seems like a part-time job!
I've never had more than two credit cards at once. Eventually stopped using one until they closed it (0 balance) because it was just easier to deal with one bill & payment.
I have multiple credit cards, and I keep track of my credit cards with Google sheets to keep track of my balance, credit limit, credit utilization, priority spending, welcome bonuses, notes, and when to apply for credit limit increase.
I pay down my balance in full and keep track of monthly charges for credit cards I rarely use. It's possible to be a credit card person xD.
It seems like a lot, but seeing a beautiful spreadsheet with functional formulas. I can understand this amount of set could seem overwhelming.

I have been watching some of your newer videos, and really like them. I recently saw the follow up video for Tyshawn and wanted to watch this one. So much can change in a year and so much can stay the same as well. There is so much tied to money and spending that is psychological. Debt is a big problem in the United States. I myself have paid off consumer debt many times over but keep going back into it.
She honestly seems like she has a big heart and can do well. It seems like her family takes a lot of her money (unfortunately common for black women), and her sporadic mindset and not having a fulltime job is really messing her up. If she gets therapy for her family issues, mindset and financial help with a higher job I think she will be okay.
She worked at Spectrum. How much money could they take? She basically made next to minimum wage.
It's a great, informative video. However, it's disheartening to see so many young people under 30 are going thru what she is going thru. I had to face a similar problem when I moved from NYC to Atlanta, I had to buy a used car and now I have insane monthly payments.
Man I remember being in a similar (4 maxed cards) situation… you just gotta pull it together and make sacrifices and make it a priority
This makes me sad. A lot of ppl just don’t have the “know how” before coming of age and making these decisions. It took me 3yrs to settle on what car to buy. Mechanic laughed but told him a car is not a benefit as it depreciates as soon as u drive off the lot. I paid all cash for my car to avoid payments n high insurance. Even when i had the cash dealers would bully me to take a payment. Cash buyers don’t keep them fed. But I’m not foolish enough to fall for their ish. I tried to get rid of one of my credit cards but in the end kept it as my b.s. card due to a low credit line. Other two i use. One for “fun” because the points system is great n i love using my points. The other is a back up bill card as some companies don’t accept my debit. Some reason certain companies come back as Fraud in my debit. So it wasn’t worth dealing with that headache. N want to start my son on it to teach him finances. $200 limit i think is reasonable for a b.s. card lol Only one card needs to b paid off n i have it in savings to pay it off. I’m just pacing myself as everything is upside down now. But I’m settled on paying it off this month. Have multiple savings accounts n my 401k. I feel my finances r horrible. Even tho i have no other debt. Not anymore after seeing these videos. But my heart breaks for them all
I think you’ve helped her learn. If all you’ve been around are broke people then imagine the odds of you not handling money well. I enjoy your content!
I hope I did! And thank you so much :)
This poor girl's future will be ruined if she does not get ahead of these 9 maxxed out credit cards.
The only people who are genuinely laughing are the credit card companies, who are making a killing off of people like her. It's really sad. She is victim to many financial fallacies, like "it was auntie anne's at the airport, therefore it was a justified expense" - how does that make any sense?
(Full-disclosure, I am also guilty of these traps! I'll go work on myself now, and best of luck to this girl!)
The car loans are really the kicker for so many of your guests. I sold my leased hyundia veloster during the car peak last year for a profit, bought a 2005 honda CRV from facebook, and put the rest of the money into savings. Best financial decision I've ever made
IKR? I bought a 2008 Lincoln MKX in 2014 for $14k, paid cash. It just this week rolled 100k miles (I work from home, don’t drive too much except for the occasional long trip to see family). It’s a beautiful car inside, really comfy on long rides, spacious for passengers and cargo. I am now having to put a little into it to keep it in shape, and will probably have to decide whether that’s still worth it at some point, but basically, I’ve spent less than $2k/year for a very nice ride, none of that in interest. I know people with monthly payments bigger than that. I really don’t get it, why do folks want to spend so much money on a nice car when they don’t have to? Crazy to me. And the car’s still worth $6-7k. I could get almost half my money back, 9 years later. Can’t get much cheaper than that, and I’m not even in a beater.
I love this story. I have been there. I am paying debts as fast possible now.
How could she not stress at all? It’s kind of amazing.
Nah she looks stressed asl. She's just optimistic and hopeful.
This series is very insightful and exciting. Could you do a video of where you break down where people should be financially by age or income.
Could be a series going up in age by five years or salary by 10,000 increments.
I love that idea!
Love the concept and real world interviews! I'd like to see more structure to how you review the Debts, incomes, assets, liabilities, and other things. maybe a running summary on the screen too.
MOre recent videos are much better at this :)
Good idea Jon. A standard review with tables and “bottom line” totals would be helpful. This would make comparisons/contrasts between these financial train wrecks easier.
Hu Caleb, i would love to be featured on your show. Watching these videos has opened my eyes to my terrible spending habits but i dont know how to dig myself out of the hole that I’ve dug. Let me know!
castingcalebhammer.com if you're able to come to Austin :)
Love the random bass drop while talking about Acorns
Just when I thought the card debt would be the last one, you whip out another one🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️ best of luck to her honestly. This is breaking my heart
Right?! Just kept coming, and they don't stop coming. Fed to the rules and I hit the ground runnin'
It was like a parade.
Why? Would you buy a new car and max out 9 credit cards? This was irresponsibly to the maxed. Get it haha
this page gonna blow up no time when people realize their financial situations can leave them homeless
I hope it helps some people!
Caleb, this was one of the best vids I’ve seen about cars. Very powerful to realize that building generational wealth is being traded for a car
Agreed
I love these episodes, I love seeing what others are dealing with financially and hearing Caleb offer tips and a plan to get out of it. Really motivates me to make smarter decisions financially and also reminds me that I too can get to a debt-free place. I would never be able to go on camera and share my financial statements with Caleb, I’d be smiling on camera and brushing stuff off and then after I’d be scream crying in my car 😅😅😅
Jesus this is so addicting, I was recommended by you because of all the Dave Ramsey videos I watch and I think I've watched most of your videos already, keep up the good work, as a fellow Austinite I feel like its our duty to bring financial responsibility to our peers. P.S love the reactions XD
Thank you so much, Alejandro!!
I’m a fresh 18 year old and am excited about trying to have a financially literate future. Especially with my career path of wanting to become a concert violinist as well as a violin professor I’m going to need to learn and use financial tools in order for me to succeed in a. Field where many people fail, even if it means extra side hustles and jobs! Thanks for the great content looking forward to you blowing up in the future! Do you have any other socials besides tik tok and RUclips?
Thank you! And I do :) linked in the bio! As a fellow musician, I'm really rooting for you!
thank you for not using background music through the conversation in your newer videos! i have consumed all the recent ones so moving onto the archives. it’s very hard to concentrate on the speakers with the background noise.
Like your content new to the channel I watch this cause I want to avoid situations like this and I see videos like this as a learning lesson to be more financially aware and don’t over spend on credit cards I’m new to building credit and already have 2 credit cards
Caleb is definitely a calmer person in those days.
The good news is, now she’s aware. Knocking out any one of those cards will be a big win for her if she uses the snowball method. Hopefully that gives her enough satisfaction to keep going. Time to take control.
Agreed!
Facts. Hit one or two of those cards, that’s an extra $150 in her pockets, to use to hit another card, and another
IF you see this comment, please don’t do door dash, Uber, etc. the extra miles and ware and tare you will put on your vehicle isn’t worth it. The 2013 Chevy Equinox’s are known for timing chain issues at 80k miles and above. Once it starts you basically have to replace the engine. Please do your research before buying a vehicle.
Whenever I feel like my finances are a disaster, I just watch one of Caleb’s videos to cheer me up. 😂😂😂
And this is why you budget! So stuff like this doesn’t happen.
Also I need to do this to see what I spend money on and such. These videos are so good to watch!
Gotta budget!
Great stuff! Poor girl is really settling herself up for failure.
Thank you, I appreciate it :)
She’s like my sister and my sister just got pregnant

I think sometimes things get so out of whack that people get paralyzed and think its easier to live with it instead of making a change. She has financially screwed herself at 26 and then ups and quits a stable job. It's a sucky place to be and she has to make the sacrifice and effort to do better if she doesn't want to be in the same position 10 years down the lane living paycheck to paycheck. I can't figure out if her nonchalance and lack of urgency is because she feels hopeless or she just doesn't care.
I personally agree that she seems to feel hopeless. When you grow up poor, having money as an adult is a luxury. But that can ruin your future if you don’t get it together. She needs therapy!
She did so much talking, but I don’t think she did much listening. Anything that was brought up, she had an excuse for it. She did acknowledge a few things, but she always had an excuse as to why she won’t do it. She seems to be only living for today, or immediately now, no thoughts on the future . I truly hope she and the others absorb what this man is teaching them. Sometimes you need that tough love to change, but who knows if they will.
I agree. So many stories about why she did something gave me anxiety 😥
I’m confused as to why she thought it was okay to quit her job
@@mzcain1521 because she does like to talk to people when her job was customer service. This is crazy. This new generation wants no pain but all the gain. Imagine a man trying to get with this lady. SMH.
She's trying to save face by making up excuses on the fly, because she's really embarrassed about the situation and how she could be perceived for her lack of discipline, restraint and self-control.
Seems like one of the biggest problems is that financial institutions/ corporations are approving people for too much debt. Is there any underwriting anymore or is it this person has a pulse and he is given access to a loan he cannot afford?
Right?!
totally, isn't it in their best interests to only approve ppl that can actually pay back for the things that these companies are fronting
For the creditors themselves, the minuscule limits are probably borderline rounding errors for them.
I used to think this too... that banks should be more stringent giving a loan but in reality they are a business. If they deny someone in need a loan at 10% thst person will go to private lenders and get a loan at 20 or 30% or higher. The issue is more I think in the moral issue of it all, which businesses won't do because their interest is to make as much money as possible. Therefore the onus is on the customer to protect themselves and live frugally/responsibly.
it seems the convenience of e-payments for everything disconnects people from how much they are actually spending
Yeah, that could be true!
As a 2012 Equinox owner, I recommend you seriously watch your oil level, especially if you have the 2.4 liter engine.
I sure don't miss this music in the background. 😂😂
“I try not to think about it too much”, “at least it’s going towards something” etc. that’s the mentality right there- ignoring the problem and letting it build with excuses. That’s only what she let out verbally, but in her mind there are many more excuses and dismissals. It’s all about rerouting those thoughts. Stopping yourself in your tracks when those “it’s just one more” thoughts come up. My biggest issue was buying takeout because I’m constant too tired for cooking. But discipline saved me there. You have to have a reason and make a serious point about changing these habits. Also I moved out of my main city. It was too expensive, moving 30 minutes away was enough to cut rent quite a bit. Austin is very expensive. I also have a beater Kia! It’s so freeing not to have a monthly car payment with high insurance.
She doesn’t care, don’t make her care. Let her be poor but educate her that it’s her fault
Her car payment is what I pay on my 2021 hybrid RAV4 😦
Yikes!
Yeah I have a 2017 Jetta w/ about a $100 lower car note than hers- the dealership she went to really screwed her over 😫😕
Stable income is a MUST however that work lifestyle is just not for everyone but you can pay off debt overtime. I can do relate to her I have came a long way and I hope she is doing so much better. People need this kind of sit down talk to lay everything out.
I really hope she gets things under control. I hope you do follow ups!
$440 a month on a 2013 with 67,000 miles 😧😳
It hurts 😬😬
I thought that was good lol
$20k for 2013 equinox with 69k miles financed with sub 600 credit score = monumental bad decision
IMPORTANT NOTE: When you deliver food or give people rides, most insurance companies require added insurance AND ALSO for most, if you are in an accident while working without it, your insurance will not cover you AT ALL. My 19-year-old son pays $60 extra/month to drive Door Dash. Don’t chance this! Get insurance!
love the interviews, the music is driving everybody crazy though
this is the content RUclips needs! love this!
Thank you so much, Omar :)
First time watcher: I'm sort of disappointed cause I was truly hoping that the advice at the end took into account her financial intelligence as well as her emotional tie to the situation. When I started working with clients I realized it's truly important to show them the hard truth while uncovering the emotional triggers. There were some glaring themes that weren’t discussed that I think she would have benefited from. But maybe that wasn't the point of the audit, would hope in the future that could be incorporated.
I hecka want a financial audit now
Come on my show :)
I've been working for spectrum (started when it was charter) for almost a decade now and it's a great, well paying job for not needing an education.
