The last line has another deep layer, after his mother's death Shaka banned the growth of wheat, it's also one of the reasons his brothers killed him.
Another thing about caeser's line on why its so hard is that Shaka went insane or some shit after his mother passed which he actually banned growing wheats etc.
I did not know that interesting
Just wanted to point out that a lot the history we learn about Shaka is from biased sources so we don’t have an actual guarantee that he did this but in SA we DEFINITELY learn about him losing his sanity and doing these things!
He also forbade any pregnancies. If a woman was caught pregnant, Shaka would have her killed. It’s one of the reasons for his assassination
TRUE! 😩😩😩😩😩😭😭😭😭😭💀💀💀💀💀😈😈😈😈😈
I’d love love love if you did Gordon Ramsay vs Julia Childs ❤️
Ayyy. I'm a student in the field of Classics, the study of Ancient Greece and Rome. Happy to see you react to this one, one of my faves.
I was expecting for a Caligula vs Vlad the III way back then, but they did a Vlad vs Dracula instead... :/
I'm still hoping to see Augustus or Nero or some Greco-Roman poets. xD
THANK YOU... for being the first person to recognize that Zulu's best line about him getting stabbed in the back as a miss
First?
@@kostajovanovic3711 That I'd seen, yes. Man some people have nothing better to do lol.
I'm not a sports guy myself, but despite that, one of my favorite ERBs is Tony Hawk vs. Wayne Gretzky. Would love to see that one.
Also would love to see a community Discord server. :P
I plan on making a discord server when I comeback from vacation. I leave tomorrow and will be back next Sunday. I wanted to create one when I hit partner, but It would be silly for me to make one just for me to leave and be gone for a week right when it started!
@@YouLoveSkyler I feel you. xD I look forward to joining.
@@YouLoveSkyler discord 100% joining can't wait
Michael Jordan vs Muhammad Ali is definitely the next. My friend n I kept arguing who won the battle up until now. 'would love to know ur take
So, MJ vs Ali has actually been recorded, and will be uploaded next soon. Here is the schedule of the next couple uploads

great battle i remember it being kinda ahead with bar quality
The wheat reference was about shaka's insane decision to stop growing wheat! After Shaka's mother died, he made his people stop growing wheat for a year, which led to his brothers killing him! It is a drop the mic moment! Cesar won!
fat
You’re right!
His battle weapon is actually called: IKLWA
But people can’t pronounce the sound the KL makes so they refer to it as: Iwisa
I THINK Iwisa is the other name for it. I’ve heard of it before but I’m not 100% sure.
Love the vids! Cant wait to see more :)
I really enjoy this one, someone already mentioned the wheat reference but also the 'knock off his dome' could well be a reference to the famous Pantheon temple in Rome, does seem like strange wording if it's not a reference! Enjoying all the reactions, looking forward to Philosophers and Ali vs Jordan, two top battles imo. Romeo and Juliet vs Bonnie and Clyde still a topone to do but enjoy your holiday!
Love your comments, you are the one that get the more lines and references. You should do Bonnie and Clyde vs Romeo and Juliet
-5:20-- but what'd they do to ensure that THEY didn't die from their "own" poison? O_o- never mind. ':-D
Skylar, I always liked your background, not only does it match the videos but it has this old school video game look to it. Also your vast knowledge taught me a lot more than my teachers back in high school.
Love your videos! Keep up the good work.
Stylistically, personally my favorite style for yall is for you to watch it all the way through, then do stops and break downs on a second playthrough.
Just opinion! Keep it up.
1:48 "Barbarian", which the Romans took from the Greeks, pretty much literally means "Person who doesn't speak Greek/Latin" and basically referred to everyone outside their borders.
Fun Fact: The word "Gringo" basically means the same thing, but for Spanish.
4:46 Caesar was a dictator yes, but I'm not so sure about the fascist part. As to if the line is referring to him being a dictator or being about the shape of the Italian peninsula.... Yes, he was.
7:26 The thing you did with your shield if you were surrendering was drop it. Holding it over your head is what you do when you are dealing with arrows or people dropping things on you during a siege.
8:48 He didn't just threaten to kill them when he was released. He also demanded they raise the ransom they asked for because he thought it was too low. Also, he befriended many of the pirates who kidnapped him during his time with them. And still gathered up an army and went and killed all of them. Though the story I heard is that he had them all crucified.
The flanking maneuver Julius is talking about in his last verse is Basically the double envelopment. Ironically 70+ thousand Romans died on a battlefield at Cannae in a battle where this maneuver was created by Hannibal Barca one of the most Brilliant military commanders in history. This was during the second Punic war against Carthage.
Hannibal didn't invent the maneuver, but his use of it at Cannae is one of the more famous uses of it.
I think you might like erb parodies: Disney vs miyamoto. I’m so ready for someone to react to it.
If anyone wants a little more info on the triumvirate it was a political alliance between Pompei (a famous military commander), Crassus (the richest man in Rome), and Caesar.
The triumvirate broke apart while Caesar was in gaul because Crassus died on a campaign in Parthia and Pompei took cotrol of the senate and tried to take away Caesar's legions and provinces so Caesar marched on Rome and made Pompei flee to greece where he defeated him.
Pompei then tried to escape to Egypt but he was beheaded by the king there who wanted Caesar to get a good impression of him.
Yeah, pretty much anyone who wasn't Roman was a barbarian in Roman eyes.
Lewis and Clark vs Bill and Ted
Romeo and Juliet vs Bonnie and Clyde
I took the boot reference line as in Italy looks like a boot
yes! someone gets it
Try "princess rap battles" (katniss vs Hermione) or (Queen of hearts vs the Wicked witch of the West)
It also missed because Caesar dies in the first half of the book not the end.
Hannibal Lechter vs Leatherface
Skyler please do Steve Jobs vs Bill Gates
Caesar was well treated by his kidnappers. When he heard what they were requesting for his release, he told them to ask for more. Then he promised to hunt them down and crucify them after he was released. After he was released, Caesar did hunt the pirates down and ordered them crucified. Due to their treatment of him aboard their ship, he also had them killed quickly prior to crucifixion.
Cleopatra next
I have done that one check out my erb playlist!
@@YouLoveSkyler im checking it as we speak. ty
I'd love if you do David copperfield vs harry houdini
09:30-09:45 I dearly hope it was just a lapsus, and you meant to say Shaka, since Caesar predates the entire Zulu empire by a good 1800 years...
Yeah, it was a mistake i meant to flip them. Happens sometimes in these.
Cleopatra was Greek. Egypt was ruled by the successor kingdom of Alexander the great known as the Ptolemaic dynasty.
If you’re a fan of Disney you should react to Princess Rap Battles by Whitney Avalon. You should also react to Adam vs Eve and Gordon Ramsay vs Julia Childs.
Cleopatra may have ruled Egypt, but she was from the Ptolemaic dynasty, who were Greeks
*MMMM* Counter: 14
Corrects pls tell me
OMG once again always getting bars no one else gets.. Zulu a lot bars go over other people. And your only one that got Caesar talking about how he was going best Zulu formation in that rebuttal. Now i go check out other video talk about
Caesar was not a fascist at all. He was a dictator, yes. But the Senate gave Caesar that power. Also more into the kidnapping story, he was going to be ransomed for like 20 gold Talents. Caesar balked at that and told the pirates he was worth 50. They also liked his bravado and they let him hang out with them and tell stories until he was ransomed back.
1 Major flaw about you commenting romans learning a formation from the Zulu because:
You said @ 9:30 to 9:45 "Which Ceasar later on changed and modified where he got his battleplans from" which is incorrect if you had know your history well as you claim in your video ! Look down below !
Shaka kaSenzangakhona (c. July 1787 - 22 September 1828), also known as Shaka Zulu (Zulu pronunciation: ) and Sigidi kaSenzangakhona, was the King of the Zulu Kingdom from 1816 to 1828. Gaius Julius Caesar (Latin: [ˈɡaːiʊs ˈjuːliʊs ˈkae̯sar]; 12 July 100 BC - 15 March 44 BC) was a Roman general and statesman who played a critical role in the events that led to the demise of the Roman Republic and the rise of the Roman Empire.
Which means 800 years seperate them and to compare the two as if roman learned from the Zulu which didnt exist at the time is non sensical statement. The correct thing here is that the Zulu did fight and empire but not the romans who been gone for hundreds of years by now. They did fight the British Empire tho.
The Anglo-Zulu War was fought in 1879 between the British Empire and the Zulu Kingdom. Following the Constitution Act of 1867 for the federation in Canada, by Lord Carnarvon, it was thought that similar political effort, coupled with military campaigns, might succeed with the African Kingdoms, tribal areas and Boer republics in South Africa.
You should check out Wayne Gretsky vs Tony Hawk
Ceasar definitely won pretty clearly. I suggest george carlin vs richard pryor or Tony hawk vs wayne gretzky next.
Everyone else were barbarians in comparison to the Romans before their fall.
please check out Hannibal Lecter vs. Leatherface next. Freshy Kanal was on-point and Leatherface was a BEAST, bro!
I see this as a very flirtacious battle.
They're insulting and threatening each other, but it sounds almost teasing and inviting, like they WANT to fight each other.
Just one thing - Zulu came along way after Ceaser. The Zulu fought the British Empire in the 18th Century.
The horns are based on a bull
NICE! 😎😎😎😎😎😍😍😍😍😍
Saying I heard you had poison spit where was it in this cypher also meaning bro your bars are weak
You should try MSNBC vs Fox News cartoon rap battle
I would disagree to call Caesar a facist because he actually accepted a lot of Gauls into Roman Senate while rest of Roman elite objected to bring "inferior" people into the senate
He established his own order in which he had sole power forcibly as well as suppressed all who opposed him. That is fascism at its finest. Not all fascists were racist.
@@YouLoveSkyler that's dictatorship true, facism however is the belief of one's racial superiority over others ie the Aryan. I don't disagree he is a brutal dictator but he's not a facist.
@@YouLoveSkyler actually my bad, I was thinking of nazism, Ceasar does fit the description of a facist
The battle between two leaders of their own time
Where's oversimplified part 2? ☹️
It will be uploaded tomorrow at 11AM CST!
@@YouLoveSkyler love it! I'll be waiting!
Cassius was actually the last one alive and was in fact one of the main conspirators to kill Caesar though he later died in the Civil War after Caesar's death. I still think Caesar's line is still pretty good when considering that he is the most well-known and successful of the three.
A single hyena isn't beating any big cat
A hyena could easily take out a cheetah and I said specifically in the video a couple hyenas could take out a lion.
that's a bit anachronistic to call ceasar a fascist. Certainly the inspiration was there of course
He was by definition a facist.
@@YouLoveSkyler was he a corporatist? did he have a spiritual conception of the state? he was a nationalist for sure. that's 1 out of 3 that's certain. The other 2 are iffy at best.
@@miguelfonseca1104 He established his own order in which he had sole power forcibly as well as suppressed all who opposed him.. He saw anyone that wasn’t Roman as barbarians. That is exactly what a Facist is.
@@YouLoveSkyler No. it is not. This is like basing what socialism is based on what the GOP thinks.
all of what you said falls under exteme nationalism. Nationalism is a necessary but not sufficient criterion for being a fascist state.
ActuallyI heard a totally different story about Caesar's kidnappers. Like they wanted 20 silver pieces for him Caesar told them "take fifty. I'm worth 50 minimum" And then he made the threat of annihilating them. And from what i heard at least the version I heard, as a token of respect, just for the balls to kidnap him, he had them killed quickly before making a gruesome show out of their bodies. not them while they were alive.
Yeah, like I said there are multiple stories about it told. That's the one I read. The wold may never know!
Caesar won it to me
I wouldn’t necessarily say that the “stabbed many times by your friends” bar missed. Brothers back then were always fighting for power in families. Caesar chose his friends that betrayed him. Nobody is shocked when brothers fight, but even Caesar was surprised by the betrayal of Brutus.
