this match made me get into Guilty Gear. Thanks Kusoru, thanks Steve Harrison and the awesome duo doing commentary. 10 years since this jewel of a chaotic match
I remember watching this around the time it came out not knowing what was happening but loving it, coming back years later and knowing more about GG it’s way more entertaining
Kusoru: *pulls out his wallet* Commentator: "OH. KUSORU TAKING OUT HIS WALLET, BETTING STEVEH ALL HIS MONEY THAT HE WILL BODY HIM." Kusoru: *puts it down on the table next to him* Commentator: "Oh no, no bets, never mind." Jesus christ, you must have broken some track and field records while jumping to that conclusion.
coming back to this video in 2020 after Accent Core +R got roll back netcode, and man this is still just as hype as I remember it. probably one of my all time favorite guilty gear matches.
I agree commentators should be unbiased, but I think this is one of those instances that you could chalk up to the heat of the moment. A fast paced, crazy, competitive match... words are just gonna fly out like vomit.
Correction: 2d RC 2d RC Command Grab. He's known in the GG community for being extremely ballsy and gimmicky. Though I could see Steve H's pride on the line in that match, a pitty he lost, but it looked like kusoru had him downloaded in the second set. Still very enjoyable and there's always new tricks to learn from Steve H's Ky.
According to legend, Kusoru wasn't one of the gods, but he was good enough to give them a run for their money. Kusoru is one of the 5 gods of kuso games for sure though. Also his MvC3 is inspiring. Really like the guy.
Oh no, quite the contrary in fact. I actually admire how he always finds a way to troll the opponent. Congratulations on getting your Dust Loop back in Xrd, by the way.
I remember coming home to watch this set after having spent hours prior huddled somewhere for a tornado in the area. What fools we were, for this match was the true tornado.
I'm a 3rd Strike player, and this game is a notch more challenging to absorb all the information than other fighters. No doubt that once you put in more time than in a casual aspect, the game becomes more enjoyable. I know that's basically it with all games, but again, takes a tad more understanding than other fighters.
That was Hype. In the beginning it looked like they were even but then it started looking like steve was running out of tech against kuro. Then at some point kuro was blocking his mix-ups and he started making mistakes. Seemed like it came down to who had more tricks up there sleeve.
This has become one of my all time favorite guilty gear matches. And to all the people bitching about the biased commentary, him being biased makes him more emotionally invested in the match which means more hype which leads to a much more exciting match.
It's because most young Americans these days act so arrogant it repulses people of other nations. In most other cultures when they have guests from other countries they try to be extra respectful and build them up and honor them.
I know im late, but that was being said because in some point in time arcsys lost the rights for GG (overture era), then arcsys comes up with bb to try get the gg players again, thats why a lot of the charactera before played almost the same as the gg counterparts
AND kusoru strike again with a mid tier (C) to win the final..But kudo to Steve too for using Ky since he also got nelfed pretty badly with in this game (Mainly his damage potential which led him to even lower than Sol). I'm surprised that that no Eddies, Slayers, Mays, or Jams could beat Kusoru. Guess he is trying to prove that GG is that most balance FG out there like TK.
you hate the guy with the glasses - at least not absolutely every thing in the game is utterly insane to him. was there one move by any player that didn't make him go 'what?' 'speechless...' that tone of voice.
Has anyone tried to count the number of rounds in this video? It's 6, but player had to win 3 of 5. Maybe here is something like "training round" but i never saw something like this.....
no, so Steve was in loser's bracket, which means he had to win 2 lots of 3 out of 5. He won the first 3 rounds, but still needed another best of 5 set. Kusoru, however, only needed to win one 3/5 set, which he did after Steve one his first set.
to be honest i was going for the player who was playing with soy. then i thought i thought steven harrison was playing as him and after hearing the biased shit i was like "wow...i hope steve looses". then i found out steve was playing as ky :). my day was good after that
All these commentors mad about the commentators not being impartial thinking they where 100% serious and not just enjoying a fun game. All the pearl clutching over every single joke they make.🤣🤣
doesn't mean more hype necessarily. It's like siding with one player rather than viewing the skills of the other person. At least the guy on the right was fair. The match was great though.
Sorry for the late reply, but in my experience it takes more precision than a 720. You can't start it from a 3 position, and inputting 7 or 9 kills it. Not saying it's that hard but It's definitiely not mashable or buffable, like a dp or SPD.
The commentary isn't even that bad. The dude was just really fucking hype and rooting for his country. If you were there and were passionate about the game im sure a lot of you would be flipping out too.
This video is famous in Japan and some said that Kusoru is contraband, others said this might cause international conflict
the real reason behind ww3
He's on the FBI's wanted list for this.
Kusoru is 100% contraband
It's a treasure, a high value commodity.

"America: land of the free, home of biased commentary."
Kusoru came to the states and took gg and marvel lmfao
@Randy Saint what the

I hate that they absolutely made Kusoru never want to go to the US again. He's an amazing player

This is why we love GG: 3:55 - 3:57; 4:40 - 4:45 and, of course, ”deep combo”.
What's up with this commentary.
My dude must have gotten bopped by Kusoru earlier that day.
kusoru is just a GGX god so he was rooting for the underdog Steve H, thats all
That one commentator missed the memo that you're at least supposed to SEEM impartial
Sol Badguy is such a badass character xD
and people call marvel the hypest game on the planet..............

"This is America!" "This is making you look like a douche!"
What an amazing fight.
This is why GG is the best
I have lost my mind 5 times over watching this set. I think this is what convinces me to actually learn Sol

i could watch this all day. i'd like to see them do more rounds.props for the technique
God this is my favourite tournament video. Everytime I watch it is like its the first time. Makes me hype as fuck

This match inspired or ruined an entire generation of Sol players depending upon who you ask

Sooo... Kusoru won the UMVC3 and GGAC tournaments at FRXV?! :D He's my new personal hero

2k RC 2k RC grab.
A good tic throw has never been so expensive.
anyone 2020?

Yes
this set should have millions views , so hype af
This one set alone is more hype than the entirety of Xrd.
2021 baby! This set was hype!
Greatest GG match of all time
This might be the nastiest set ive seen, 2d rc 2d rc Wild Throw is a crime
This is the same event that Kusoru beat down F.Champ in.
The amount of mashing and desperate throws SteveH went for at the very end is extremely amusing.
yeah, it's a really really good game. I just got back into it and am hooked again

Yeah, Arc System Works. BB is sometimes referred to as a spiritual successor to GG even though both are still being made.

Not just that, he was doing Riot stomps to trick SteveH into thinking he could AA them.

All GG matches are intense like this
is just my idea or kusoru kept his best staff for the second set
Most PPL forget Kusoru was and still is pretty beast with SOL in GG.
Apparently these commentators have never seen a match with Kusoru before.
