I miss those late-80's/early-90's jerseys they had. I also miss the old Hull & Oates line, or the Hull Street Blues! Geez, we had some good teams back then...
Never really got over him turning his back on Canada, but he was the best quote in the NHL for quite some time. There’s no doubt about it. He was Gary Bettman’s worst nightmare with a mic in his face!
B had this video from midas as a kid and I watched it so much I knew it word for word. I have a lot of respect for Brett and I’m a bruins fan. Great video thanks for posting.
I turned 7 at the end of the 90/91 season and lived in St. Louis. To say that Brett Hull was a hero on the playground would be a massive understatement. I just assumed he would be going 50/50 for years to come.
I still have my vhs copy of this stashed away. I think this was a promo for Midas. That is where I received it and cover had Midas logos all over it, along with the commercial that he made, which is in this
Did anyone ever notice in old sports clips the majority of the fans are wearing regular clothes and not their team colors or jerseys? I wonder why merchandise wasn't marketed as much back then.
Alot of people would actially dress up and wear ties, and woman wore dresses. I never knew that but my best friends grandma told me, after the game she woukd go out with the team to the bar, alot if them smoked, drank , and had a lot of white stuff around!!
Growing up a hockey fan as a kid in the late 80s and 90s I did not know much about Brett Hull as I grew up in the Boston area and Hockey was much more regionalized and obviously no social media. I never realized how humble he was. I definitely have a new appreciation for this guy
Thank you for putting this up here! I had the original VHS tape but have nothing to watch it on anymore. Now I can "let it go" 😉 Brett...my favourite player! Always will be, ever 😍
@@tomgeoghegan9173 Hull considered himself both because Team Canada snubbed him and Team USA invited him to play. From that point forward Hull considered himself American and played for Team USA
@@MrTCHOSS Correct. Tram Canada snubbed him. Your last sentence makes no sense. He's born in Canada. Dad's side of family Canadian. America via mother.
@@tomgeoghegan9173 During this particular time period (1990-91), Hull was still sore about the Canada snub. He called himself an American during that time period. He may have softened since then, but it would have been perfectly fine for Ken Wilson to say that. It was something Hull wore as a chip on his shoulder for those first few years of his career
My dad met him at a bar around the time of this video. When my dad she shook his hand the hand that meets his is about as thick as a t'bone steak and had the grip of a hydraulic press. It was a brief interaction but my dad says he was a nice guy.
Thanks mostly to the players union, the NHL draft is now only 7 rounds, where it used to be 12 and some years 20 plus. It's incredible to think that despite Brett Hull's obvious talent for shooting and scoring that he was drafted in the 6th round. It pains me to think how many great talents we are being robbed of because of the inability of NHL clubs to stop over emphasizing their first round picks while underrating anyone taken in the later rounds. I honestly wonder if there will ever be another hall of fame player who was never drafted, or drafted late like Hasek and Robitaille etc.
I'm no NHL fan but I just wanted to buy a jersey to make a cool outfit cause what gives, right? Ended up falling in love with the '98 Blues jersey on ebay cause nice colors and everything, 'HULL #16' on the back, never heard that name before I only know Jagr, Gretzky and Ovechkin. Watching this video I'm so happy I had that impulse cause now I own a jersey of one of the all-time greats. Unfortunately I never saw him playing but I watched 4 games yesterday - starting with the Blues game. Could be the start of something special, idk...
Great video. Just one comment, Bobby Hull wasn't the first person to score 50 in the NHL. Rocket Richard, Bernie Geoffrion, did it before Hull. The golden jet, did it on regular basis.

This was such a beautiful video. Classic early 90's editing, and the legendary era of the mullet. Just a real pleasure to watch, ya know?
Foltz22 indeed 👍🏻 sorely missed
Full agreement
This narrator was in every video in the 90s I think
what a humble guy i had no idea he was so down to earth
He is Canadian you know...
HAHAHAHAHAHA
Humble, yeah. You never met him
Humble as hell - screaming talent - super likeable - thanks for a lot of entertainment, Brett!
One of the few pro athletes who equalled or surpassed his fathers success
Amazing player. So glad he played here in St. Louis!

Если ты интересуешься началом карьеры в DRW Павла Дацюка, чьё имя ещё будет рядом ?

Awesome video, really enjoyed it.
Such a quick mind, analyze, find and skill to score! A natural
Thank you Adam Oats!
He was in my brothers class in school in 1975 in Winnipeg

I remember the noma gt snow racer commercial with him 🥲

Back then you could pretty much only buy merch at the games, and they had no where near the selection they do now. The internet definitely helped too.

The Golden Brett and Adam Oates line on NHL hockey . Used many times even though I was a rangers fan fan.
Bobby Hull was always so kind. His ex-wife rude. I was there. As a little kid, I saw it right away.

Hull and Bossy and Michel Goulet were the ultimate PURE goal scorers of all time. Hull was a goal scorer plain and simple and 86? Come on man
Ken Wilson was one of the best announcers in sports IMO
Johnny B. Goode My all time favorite!
Pretty good. Needs to get his facts straight. Hull is Canadian...

Magic years for hockey in general back then.
One of all time fav's! Classico!
Great video! This was free gift I believe when you had work done at Midas muffler!

now this is the Brent Hull we all can respect.
TruePowerIsMine I believe it's pronounced Brent
37:53 in Sean Avery’s book he said that Brett told him he didn’t sign any of the cards that were sent out lol

I have this on vhs lol
I always thought Bret would be a Black hawk..as a kid ..he grew up in Chicago stadium..with Bobby Jr

I have Brett's authenticated certified autograph on a Dallas Stars Jersey if anybody's interested.
HAHA! Awesome. I miss Hull.
Beauty Mississippi Waterfall on the kid.
quick hands and a laser of a slap shot...very smart player......i seen is dad knock out goalies with his slap shot

They said first to score MORE than 50. Which would be an accurate statement.
Ken Wilson has the voice of an angel
They drafted him in the sixth round how absolutely ridiculous was that
Always a Blue.
I wish I had a dad
❤️✅🔥🤩
Bobby Hull also scored 50 women a month and 50 packs of bubble gum a day
his father proud as fuck!
HE is one of the best at busting up hotel rooms....when drunk...
He took a ride in my cab on new yrs eve 1988 he was not feeling much pain, was in calgary then what a mistake to trade him
Hull looks very high
No doubt..Hullie was bangin' some one hits before the interview...outside on the deck 😉
Bobby Hull's son who was born in Canada playing for Team USA....a travesty
he is American on his mother's side
Canada didn’t want him.
The best BLUE of all time.
