When he choked up when saying he was proud of his son being a mature and passionate young man. Those are great moments. Brett Hull is as honest as they come. What a character.
That 2002 Red Wings team is the single greatest assembly of hockey talent on a single professional team ever. Yzerman, Federov, Hull, Robataille, Larianov, Shannahan, Lidstrom, Chelios, Datsyuk, Hasek. All led by Scotty Bowman. Thats not even to mention the great group of role players (Maltby, Duschene, Olausson, Fischer, Draper, Holmstrom, McCarty)
Brett...don't know if you will ever read this but that was a wonderful tribute...you intentionally passed your accolades on to others: your parents, mother of your kids, your wife, team mates, NHL owners, your kids , Peter Zezel (RIP) hockey moms and even stick boys. You are most certainly a man of honor!!! CHEERS!!!
Hull was a great player in that era, but no hockey fan can mention the 90's especially the late 90's without mentioning the Detroit/Colorado rivalry which gave the NHL a great rivalry and hatred not seen in the sport since then
2:22….Speak my mind: 「The further you are from the play, the closest you are to it!」(credited to his father Bobby Hull) This may explain why, as a Dallas Stars player, he was able to score the winning goal {as: the closest you are to it} for the 1999 Stanley Cup! Why? In spite of having a torn groin and stayed on the bench most of the times during the game watching {as: the further you are from the play}, Brett asked his coach for that one shift in that triple overtime game 6 to make history!
This loooong time diehard Wings fan wants to thank YOU, Brett Hull, for coming to Detroit and giving us such great memories:)) I was at the game in Fla in Feb 02, when Datsyuk made that great backhand pass onto your tape in OT...and you buried it!!! So crazy to see probably 15,000 Wings fans out of the 19,000 ppl there...just erupt...on the ROAD:)))
amazing player and a touching speech. im always disgusted by the rambling, goofy, nonsensical acceptance speeches by some of those NFL HOF inductees--but the NHL, those guys are always class all the way.
Mark Reisman check out Griffey Sr’s career stats and they are much better than what you seem to think. His son obviously had a better offensive career but his dad was no slouch. Just saying.
I think you mean the Islanders teams from the 80s 19 consecutive Playoff Series victories will never be matched ever 4 Stanley Cups straight and before you say five Stanley Cups 19 consecutive playoff victories bossy shoots and scores later
@@stevenhaas9622 Hull, Robitaille, Hasek, Datsyuk, and Chelios were not part of the Red Wings dynasty of the late 90s. They were there only in 2002 (Hasek and Datsyuk also in 2008).
That 2002 Red Wings team had like 11 HOFs. And some of the names were truly legendary, but not necessarily in their prime. Hasek is probably the best goalie in ages. Yzerman, Fedorov, Robitaille, Hull, Datsyuk, Lidstrom. And more. And the most underrated of all, B Shanahan. Chelios, who I don’t think was all that great, but experts do.
What a player! One of the best for sure🌺🌹🌺

When he played with Detroit and was paired with Zeterberg and Daysuk it was magic he said it was 2 kids and a goat 🐐.
What a nice hockey player he was ....and he's a really good at giving speeches
Amazing player.
This is why hockey is so awesome.
As a Red Wings fan it was an absolute pleasure to watch this man. Datsyuk and Hull made a great 1 2 punch.

Hulls the reason I watched NHL back in the 90s
Hull was a great player in that era, but no hockey fan can mention the 90's especially the late 90's without mentioning the Detroit/Colorado rivalry which gave the NHL a great rivalry and hatred not seen in the sport since then
Those three seasons when Brett scored 228 goals were great seasons.
Great Speech great player and all around good DUDE!!!🤘🇨🇦🇺🇸🍻🎵 CHAMPION🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘

Best speech ever!
One word....class!
Bobby & Brett Hull are the greatest father/son team in the history of sports bar none. Griffey Sr. was not close to junior.
Mark Reisman check out Griffey Sr’s career stats and they are much better than what you seem to think. His son obviously had a better offensive career but his dad was no slouch. Just saying.
Agreed
Mark and Gordie Howe would disagree with that statement.
what a fucking speech......very down to Earth guy. And probably nobody will every get 86 goals without an empty netter
Good job bud
Hully was the best!
Is*
classy
No mention of the Calgary Flames?😮
Claude Junior Malo or the coyotes
Or Brian Burke
Why mention the dumb organization that hated him and ran him out of town... Thanks Terry Crisp you moron
I was hoping he was gonna sing Gloria.
I was hoping he would mention Mike Keenan ;)
Hull and Oats were pretty good! The best team ever assembled was the 1978 Montreal Canadiens not the Red Wings.
1976-77 Canadiens, I believe you meant. 60-8-12 record with an incredible 216 goal differential.
@@Pierreboro you are correct. The best team that I have ever seem 1976/77 Canadiens.
75/77 Canadiens not 1978
Ron Bonora red wings had a better roster

The Gretzky brothers combined have more NHL points than Bobby and Brett Hull.
You miss the point bro
@Mike Urashevich who is Mark?? We know Bobby. We know Brett. We know Gordie, but who the heck is Mark??
@@djtrankilo231 You don't know who Hockey Hall of Famer Mark Howe is?

No goal
the team he was referring to was not the greatest team ever assembled, the 1976 to 1978 Canadiens were.
I'd include Gretzky's Oilers as well, but Hull's Red Wings teams are right up there.
Early 80’s Islanders
No way. Yzerman, Federov, Hull, Robataille, Larianov, Shannahan, Lidstrom, Chelios, Datsyuk, Hasek
