Hi Dane! Thank you so much for taking the time to comment! I really enjoyed doing the video with you and J.B. :) I think you guys are awesome, and it's so great to have such an interesting story on my channel. So gratitude is all mine! I hope we run into each other again somewhere on the Gold Coast. If I see you abseiling down one of our neighbouring buildings, I'll sing out and say hello :)

I am pretty new to recreational climbing (SRT) and it is just crazy-fun. It was scary at first, but I am growing more confident in my gear and abilities with each climb. Even old guys like me can have a lot of fun on a rope!
Hello!! Thank you so much for taking the time to comment and to share your experience :) I really enjoyed hearing about you growing more confident and having fun on the rope. Good on you!! I really admire the courage you have to give it a go and work on your skills. @@SuvisJournalism I was almost 70 years old when I decided to learn to climb, and last year I climbed an old growth fir tree. My goal is to climb and learn as much as I can while I am still able. It is great fun and wonderful exercise. I'll be 72 years old in May, and hope to keep climbing for many more years.
@@340wbymag Wow, that is really impressive!! How big was the fir tree? If it was old growth, it was probably enormous :) And I am guessing that with your strength and vigour, you absolutely will be climbing for many more years to come!! You are an inspiration :)
@@SuvisJournalism Some old growth trees are over 300 feet. I didn't climb quite that high. My goal isn't to climb the biggest tree, although that would be fun. I just want to enjoy the exercise and play like I did when I was a kid, and so far, I have been pretty successful at that. When springtime and early summer rolls around I will climb trees in the local mountains or near one of the local rivers and just sit quietly so I can watch for animals like deer, elk, and bears.
Must be nice having a safety line, I enjoy mine exploring which is SRT so a single rope with no safety backup and a much more "basic" descender as his would get gunked up with mud. Really interesting job though, I'd love it, the only bad thing is going back up the rope. I'd be going to the bottom and getting the lift back up 😂
