We're experiencing the same weather patterns here in northern Vermont. The last real good year for snowmobiling here was the Winter of Dec 2018 through April 2019. Our season runs Dec 15th through April `15th and the last 4 seasons have been terrible for us snowmobiling. It's only going to get worse and if you want to purchase some good used snow machines look no further than Vermont, LOL.
1997 Northern Alberta Canada we had no snow everyone calm down Yamaha fell out of the snowmobile market after the Turbo nytro was shortly after artic cat it all fell apart
They weren't saying this last year! And the reason only fifty year olds are buying sleds now is because they cost $20,000!!! Younger people aren't stupid enough to buy the new stuff when they can get sweet sleds from the golden era for under a thousand. New sleds are for boomers.
So, Arctic Cat is going out of business in a couple years? That’s why they dump millions into a completely new chassis for 2024 and a brand new 858 cc engine for 2025. I think this reporter needs to do some research. Yamaha isn’t leaving the snowmobile business because of low snow conditions and neither will Cat.
Yamaha is leaving because the people aren't buying sleds for a few reasons. 20k snowmobiles and lack of a riding season. They just don't make the money they used to in the snowmobile market. And we don't get the snow we use to.
That was a decision from corporate in Japan. On a global scale snowmobiles are flat lining on sales. There’s a recent RUclips video from president of Yamaha Canada snowmobile.
Nobody will miss them. Snowmobile companies went the way of historically affordable car companies like Ford. Now every model has to have a computer screen and heated seats, power locks and windows, reverse cameras, the works! Most people who can afford the new sleds all tricked out with every fancy feature don't even ride fast. They still don't even know how to take care of a sled even after paying 20 grand each for them.

I live in southern Vermont and it’s the same story here. Just rebuilt the motor on my sled and haven’t been able to use it once this year.
Our trails were open for 1 week last year.
Last winter in Wisconsin trails were open til April
