The problem of Nigeria is subjugation not corruption. Everything is controlled from the center. The North (Hausa/Fulani) controls the center. They will never allow the South benefit from its own resources. Southern Nigeria is an open air concentration camp. Sadly many cannot see it.

Your analysis is simple, but, to he candid you are the only person who it right in all the comments here. Truly the land is green, that's where the flag got its colours from. The Mambilla Plateau is another waste Tourist potential, the highest mountain in Nigeria is found there, the Mambilla is even higher than Obudu Ranch Resorts. On top of the high Mambilla Plateau is very flat and it is a local government. Sad for Nigeria, the government has failed us.
I’m a South *African* and look at my African brothers and sister and this beautiful Continent we share and the potential it has, it breaks my heart to watch these kinda videos. Nigeria! what a beautiful country!!🙌🏿
there are many of those with us than those against us, yet the minority seems to wield its power over the masses. money seems to speak louder in these cases: power. western laws and rules that don't fit the African man.
Honestly I really love both Nigeria and southafrica from the bottom of my heart but Nigeria insecurity and south Africa's xenophobia break my heart and some times is very shameful, because these issues scare away tourists your Africa brother here
The landscape is AMAZING!!!!!! I am an African American and have never in my life seen such lush and scenic views. I hope this place gets the love it deserves.
I agree!!! This is such a beautiful place! If the government had any sense, they'd keep it nice and market it to the diaspora with cultural activities!
Years back afriend invited me on a weekend trip to that famous obudu holiday resort: Alas, when we got there ,the staff were on strike and our planned holiday break was ruined! The trip via the amazing winding road to the top was great with breath taking view. Actually beautiful places like this should be privatised .
Calabar is still beautiful, this place can be saved. I am in awe and want to still visit here, as an American, married to a Nigerian this is my next stop on my bucket list of places to see, in Nigeria.Hopefully,it will make a 360 turnaround by the time I get there in 2023!
I live in calabar. All you said is true and even worse. The issue with privatisation is that the government will tax any private business until it dies. Ebony life left due to tax, filmhouse cinemas left due to unreasonable taxation. Crazy.
True bro I'm from Delta but I reside in Calabar the most anticipated city to visit and stay while growing up due to the breath taking site seeing and nearness of the state, but now all that is in the past, there is no continuity from DUKE my heart bleeds each time I see how dirty the state is currently and how things are not working
People worldwide have the mistaken notion that you help working people by taxing rich people incessantly. Without going to an economics class. It takes capital to invest and investments create jobs. Investors believe that's their contribution not taxes. Start dipping too much, they pull their investment and everyone loses.
Wow, I’m from Ghana 🇬🇭, always fancied this place wanted to visit this place, sad to see it in this state. When will Africans ever be accountable to Africans. This is so sad 😞
What a beautiful place. It's a shame our government is failing us, this is not just a problem in Nigeria but the entire continent. Great video dude. Love from SA
Donald Duke the best governor we had. It's so sad to see my state fall like this. I can remember all the fun memories created in all these places. Till now if you ever lived in this city during that time of it's glory it's difficult to litter the street because the consciousness of cleanliness was inbuilt in the citizens. Well done Steve👏
This broke my heart. In my entire life, I have never ever wanted or desired to visit Nigeria because to me as a West African, we live under the same circumstances so there’s really nothing different to see, but this video showed me so much that I desired to go and experience the tourism village, except as usual, it has been shut down. As I said, we all live under the same circumstances. Less than 30 minutes from where I live is a gorgeous park with a dancing fountain that rivaled that in Dubai. People travelled from other parts of the country to come and see it, and now, it’s shut down. We deserve better! Our hard earned money in the form of taxes are used to build these beautiful edifices. And they are just allowed to be run down. The place is so beautiful, Steven. The view from the drone is breathtaking. I’m sad. Just sad. Will things ever change? It’s disheartening.
I love Nigerians 😂. That guy at the end. So frank and yet funny. 😄 The highlight of the video for me 😅. I love that you put it right at the perfect point. After our hearts were broken, something light to make us smile. Your videos are always on point, Steven. @Steven Ndukwu
That guy at end was my favorite. He deserves a show of his own. I am east African but been round nigerian and got his pidgin. He says...who advised you to kom! Aah dat online oh de lie. Tourism!! dey de scrap tourism like de scrap carnival. Oh let me no blaspheme🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
When that brother said, "forget about the government, let the brothers come back and take over and build here" I felt this because this is what the whole of Africa 🌍 needs, we need to stop living like kings in places like America and come back and create jobs in our land of birth. I'm from Cross River. The liyel administration didn't abandon Tinapa and Obudu Cattle Ranch. He maintained those structures and they were still functioning. The State structures died shortly after the current administration came in. He completely neglected this structures and rarely paid little or any attention to the tourism sector.
As a child I loved visiting these places with my parents, I remember playing games at the games arcade in Tinapa, visiting the museum, reading at the beautiful library. Calabar also had the best public transport system in NIGERIA; it was called “metro blue” buses and very beautiful looking taxis. EbonyLife was once broadcasting from Calabar and the movie “Half of a Yellow Sun” featuring the award winning Chiwetel Ejiofor was shot in Tinapa and Calabar. When Calabar was at its peak it was a crime to litter the streets and you would get arrested if you did, it was clean and green and ahead of it’s time. Now, we weep for the state.
@@StevenNdukwu Thank you so much for making this video. The person destroying our state is named Ben Ayade, Atam man in Buhari's APC who has an extended ambition to one day rule the entire Nigeria in the same way. God forbid! We the Efiks have strongly considered letting them (Atam people) have their own state so they can rule themselves with their corruption and lack of vision. Unfortunately, Obudu will have to go with them. We in Calabar can start again. As long as there's vision and will, there will be hope. Thanks again for exposing this problem.

This is so heartbreaking. I used to go to Calabar a lot as a child and as a young adult. Once upon a time, Calabar used to boast of being the cleanest city in Nigeria. Now, there are heaps of rubbish in the streets. See the once beautiful Obudu cattle ranch... :-(
I'm here in America and my husband is Nigerian I would love to donate to this project if the government allows it to reopen this is such beautiful resort.
I really doubt we’re learning….. Rather I feel corruption might be done coded . Black people don’t like good things for each other, generally. We’re at the bottom of human race when it comes progress within us.
corruption is the cancer that has kept Africa from realizing her potential….we need leaders who “love” their communities. keep it up bro this needs to be said

As a non-Nigerian, I’m trying to understand why the government is controlling tourism like this. Can’t private business owners run these beautiful places? Excellent content, Steven.
Thanks for sharing this. I’m a Nigerian residing in London & never knew Cross River State had so much to bless Africa in Tourism. You kept mentioning the name of the governor who brought about this vision. I can’t understand why he lost the next election, and why the current governor has been voted in twice, when he chose to ignore to run & update such a fantastic money making & job creating tourism industry. Shame on him.
I'm a South African i like yo videos the view of that place is breathtaking so beautiful that place can generate billions of naira and the people can benefit.
What an absolute beautiful gem of an area that has been wasted and abandoned. It reminds me of those Olympic villages that get built for billions then fall to waste after the olympics are over because of lack of upkeep and future vision from current and future governments. What a sad waste for Nigeria and the people that were employed there. Love from Canada
Wow what a great documentary! Happy to see Calabar through your lenses and critique! It's sad to see all those big projects run down like that. I hope something gets done
Bro, your content keeps getting better and better and love the diverse videos. You and Tayo are my favorite Nigerian youtubers Nigeria has insane amount of potential when it comes to Tourism, innovation. There is no reason why Nigerian isn't among the top 5 countries in Africa for tourism My heart just moans for Nigeria. If Donald Duke became president, Nigeria would have transformed by now Seriously, we could have one of the highest GDPs in the world if all that money remained in Nigeria and wasnt sent to Dubai, US, Uk etc. Nigerians fuel others economy and it is shameful to hear that a place like Calabar doesn't have light for one month
I've experienced so much of Calabar the past 15 years; Obudu, Tinapa, Marina resort, the Carnival and literally everything else. It is extremely sad how bad the situation has been in Calabar. And it has drastically affected the energy in the City. Calabar is still one of my favourite cities in Nigeria and I really hope the situation gets much better. There is soo much the City has to offer.
Shedding tears watching this video. To see this level of decay in my adopted State is Sad! I lived in cross river state for almost 20 years. I've such fond memories of this place that I am even considering going on a road trip with my family soon. But seeing this...breaks my heart 💔.
So beautiful there. Here in America I just love watching anything involving Africa. Things I wasn’t shown half my life. It’s so much to see, I’ll always have something to watch. Seeing the slave trade area is hard to swallow for obvious reasonings. Without my ancestors perseverance through it, I wouldn’t be here.
The "slave route/port" at calabar was one of the busiest in Africa then. Most "slaves" from the Eastern hinterland of Nigeria, especially the igbos were transported from the calabar and adjoining ports. Most of these "slaves" ended up in the US and the Caribbean. Hope you visit someday cos here is also your land. But that has to be when things get back to normal .. Cheers
Whoever has watched this video , let’s share it widely .. Am happy that Steve is using his platform to tell this story .. mark my word , from this video , Calabar is going back to her glory days ..

Well shot as always Ndukwu. Gov. Ayade and Imoke failed cross River state. But the next Governor will get it right, I can tell you that, because I hear the next Governor may likely be Duke in-law who's wife is very much passionate about tourism as Duke himself. -inside information! Obudu is heaven man. Every Nigerians must visit this place during their lifetime. When I visited I was blown away! That last guy you interviewed is real comedian 🤣
Ayade and his giant ego has failed the state. Always hyping himself up and bragging about how he's so educated yet has nothing to show for it. All mouth and ego, no substance.
The way cross river collapsed is heartbreaking... From Obudu to Tinapa, marina Resort, kwa falls, Agbokim to mention but a few... The only thing that makes people still visit Obudu is because of its amazing landscape.... Beautiful video... We need to start holding our leader accountable... Nice video.

The "slave route/port" at calabar was one of the busiest in Africa then. Most "slaves" from the Eastern hinterland of Nigeria, especially the igbos were transported from the calabar and adjoining ports. Most of these "slaves" ended up in the US and the Caribbean. My dear, Nigerians don't even know Nigeria. We have over 500 tribes and languages. One state can have over 10 languages. People hardly travel to other regions plus knowing everything about the 36states would be a herculean task.
Nigeria is truly beautiful. He didn't even the two best kept secrets of Cross River which are Afi mountains and Agbokim falls and all that is just in one state out of 36.
Funny enough you might have something similar in your own Highlands as well.
Nigeria is far far more beautiful than this... have you heard about Jos Plateau state? The Tempt is lower than 12 degree Centigrade
Stephen, this has really made me so emotional. Calabar was my every holiday destination as a little girl and i held so many perfect memories. Obudu Cattle Ranch was my dream honeymoon destination choice but sadly by the time that marriage eventually became a reality for me, Obudu Cattle Ranch was no more, how sad 😢😢
This guy is great, i have watched couples of his videos and am highly impress. Wow! what a fantastic journalism!! This is exactly what we need in nigeria to expose amd orientate citizens on what exactly is happening everywhere to inform us. Thank u and God bless u plenty.

I hope the politicians and leaders receive this as a wake up call, to bring back the State to its glory! Awesome video.
I can feel the pain of Cross-Riverians. Their once thriving state has collapsed. Hopefully this documentary will appeal to the Governor’s conscience and make him to do the right thing. Thanks for using your platform to preach the truth Steve.
