What is your favorite One Location Movie?
"Buried" is an underrated Ryan Reynolds film that takes place within one box. It is a heart-pounding film, and Reynolds carries the movie with his performance.
Outside of the ones you already have in this list, I gotta say "Clue."
Does 'The Lighthouse' count as a one location movie? If so, that would be my choice
Does The Florida Project count?
I have 4 favorite movies like that
The Raid Redemption
Rear Window
Reservoir Dogs
The Thing
Bless you for starting with "Locke." I came into this going "I swear to god if Locke ain't in here..." Now I can continue on with my day in peace. 😂
10 cloverfield lane is such a good example of a one location movie. The idea that we don't know if the people around the main character are completely lying about the outside world or if it's true is such a good mindfuck and kept me on the edge of my seat while she uncovers different secrets. Thanks for the list, def going to check these out!
I'm honestly surprised no one is talking about "The Breakfast Club". The entire movie takes place inside a school and for the most part just the library. Sure, it's not as serious as some of the movies in this video but it's still a classic.
"Don't you forget about me"
An honestly underrated film that was missed here was Pontypool. A Canadian horror film that takes place entirely in a radio station studio, where the radio host talks to guests over the phone as a zombie pandemic begins to unfold in the nearby city. The big twist is the way in which the zombie virus spreads and how they try to counteract it. I think it's the most innovative zombie movie I've ever seen. Highly recommend it to other film buffs.
And here I thought I was the only one familiar with Pontypool!
Fascinating and creepy as you watch the infection take hold of it’s victim. It’s a welcome fresh take on zombie horror.
Sounds good!
I don't know if it counts but I think the Lighthouse could also fit into this category and it's one of my favorite movies of the past few years!
I don't think it fits, I can think of at least 5 distinctive locations within that island, so I don't think it counts.
Source Code basically counts as one and that one was amazing
I watched Moon ages ago but I still think about it. A little heartbreaking, utterly fascinating.
I would highly recommend The Invitation! Just a real good, slow burn dinner party thriller/horror.
But a reminder for people with low patience levels, you might fall asleep.
@@lead6186 that is the thing with slow burns, if you don't like dialogue and want to get right to the action, slow burns can be a slog. But I honestly feel it is really tense, wondering what exactly everything is leading up to.
@@cheeseflag7995 I really like that movie, but my friend hated it, so I'm just trying to tell people who doesn't like slowburns.
@@lead6186 I agree, definitely isn't for everyone.
Great to see smaller films like Coherence and Man from Earth brought up here. Sometimes the best stories are told with clever ideas and good conversation rather than big sets and budgets
I think Moon is very underrated, such a fascinating and also sad movie. Also the Invitation ...
Moon is great but it shouldn't be on the list. How does the moon count as one location? Does every movie that's only on earth qualify
Cube (1997) & Exam (2009) deserves to be on this list!
I have heard that Coherence is equal mixture of trippy sci-fi and claustrophobic horror. Too me this sounds like a excellent pairing of descriptions for a film of its design.
It is a great film. I highly recommend
Sound like a twilight episode where the neighborhood lost power and they start fighting among themselves
It's amazing.
Absolutely love Dinner with Andre, one of the best movies I know and I have watched a lot of movies. It's like a psychedelic experience in a movie, it rejuvenates you.
The Lighthouse is a pretty good one location movie as well
worth a mention
12 angry men and Man from Earth are my absolute favorites. I have seen them many times.
12 Angry Men is timeless I've watched it 10 maybe 11 times and its never not riveting its a masterpiece and a great film for young filmmakers to watch to see what is possible with just a great script, good actors and 1 room.
Seen "The Man From Earth" (I mean, if you're into that kind of sci-fi).?
moon was brilliant, didnt know what im getting into when i watched it, unexpected stuff.
i love this kind of movies ... when directors do sooo much with sooo little .
Similar to the raid, Dredd is great and confined to 1 building.
true!
Someone even thinks that Dredd is just a Raid rip-off.
And it was written by Alex Garland (Ex-Machina)
Coherence is extremely underrated
One location films are my favourite genre. Made me feel less anxious and tired at the end of it.:: my favourite example is hush. One location, just two conflicting main actors, and silence
Carnage has a great ensemble cast and a solid script. I would add it to this list.
Phone Booth (2002)
Speed (1994)
The Chase (1994)
I'm not sure if these movies count as a one location movie:
Cube (1997)
Dredd 3D (2012)
Sur un arbre perché (1971)
I feel obliged to say "12 Angry Men" is my favorite movie, so if you haven't seen it yet, I urge you to do so!
The Man from Earth is my all time favorite movie.
Quite liked phonebooth
My recommendation would be 1408. Most of the movie is spent with in the titular room 1408, coupled with some memorable scares and great acting from John Cussack (oh, and Samuel L. Jackson is also in there)
Top of my head, Panic Room is one of my absolute faves. The first time I watched it, my stomach felt so knotted up due to how tense and nail-biting it is. I love it!
I should mention Insignificance. Albert Einstein and Marilyn Monroe share an evening in a hotel room talking about life, the universe and everything. Thoroughly recommend.
I would look at Down Terrace by Ben Wheatley. You could also add Free Fire, another one location film by the same director.
And a perfect one location movie is Lifeboat, by Alfred Hitchcock. But also Rope. He explored this constraint a lot.
Rope, Climax and The Hateful Eight are great one-location movies.
The platform
For anyone who enjoyed Coherence, I’d recommend The One I love and Triangle. Both also shot mostly in one location
How is Ryan Reynold's Buried not here? It's a one-location movie on steroids in that it's completely shot inside a coffin buried under the ground. And that's the least interesting thing about it.
13:14 ; )
I was so happy when you mentioned My Dinner with Andre on the list! And also, I didn't even think about putting The Raid into this category.
Robert Bresson's A Man Escaped also fits in this category, and it's one of my favorite films!
I loved the man from Earth!
I remember watching rear window for the first time in black and white and still enjoyed it just as much. It’s a brilliant film
when you show the father it hits me hard, my grandfather have the same fate. I pray to all people who have dementia and their families as well, it's truly sad
Really appreciate the variety of well known and sleeper picks on this list!
Nepharious was a great one location movie. basically just two people talking the whole time and their conversation is so good
I’ve seen and love most of these movies, so I’m definitely watching the few I haven’t seen because I can trust your choices. But damn you, now I want to rewatch a bunch of the ones I’ve already seen as well!!
one of my bfs favorite movies is called pontypool (2008) dir. by bruce mcdonald. the whole thing takes place in a radio station. and the location basically acts as a conduit for increasing strains on communication with the outside world.
I am a fan of whodunnits, and they're almost always in one location. I thoroughly enjoyed the 1974 Murder on the Orient Express. There's also Tarantino's The Hateful Eight.
"Perfect stangers" and "La fuite" are very good picks for this genre of movies. Highly recommanded 🧡
Die Hard is in essence a one location film, and if it had been aiming for horror or suspense, it would have left out the other locations needed for humor.
Das Boot, once the submarine is underway, is also a one location film. So are Alien, Event Horizon, and Sphere. Submarine and spaceship movies lend themselves to a single location, though multiple compartments inside give the feel of more than one, depending on how the story's made.
I feel like some of these on the list aren't exactly true "one location" but close enough.
A few lesser known I recommend: Circle (2015), The Fare (2018), and Sweetheart (2019)
Ones that some others have mentioned too: Cube (1997), 1408 (2007), Dredd (2012), The Hateful Eight (2015), Phone Booth (2002), Speed (1994), The Mist (2007), The Breakfast Club (1985), Clerks (1994), Wheelman (2017), Saw (2004), Die Hard (1988), Reservoir Dogs (1992), Alien (1979), The Shallows (2016), Passengers (2016), Don't Breathe (2016), Rope (1948), Panic Room (2002), CLUE (1985), [REC] (2007), NON-STOP (2014) ,HIGH-RISE (2015), SUNSHINE (2007), The Evil Dead (1981), Evil Dead 2 (1987), Life (2017)
Ones I haven't seen (yet): Buried (2010), Free Fire (2016), The Lighthouse (2019), Murder on the Orient Express (1974, 2017), Snowpiercer (2013), Devil (2010), Exam (2009), 127 Hours (2010), Green Room (2015), DOG DAY AFTERNOON (1975), PONTYPOOL (2008), GERALD’S GAME (2017), ALL IS LOST (2013), MEANDER (2020) , LEBANON (2009), DAS BOOT (1981), The Invitation (2015)
This video made me remember the movie Don's Plum. Have watched it only once and can't remember much about it, a group of young people having a conversation in one location.
Also, The Sunset Limited. Interesting movie, worth watching, the cast is great.
Thank you for this video! One location movies are my favorite thing!
10 Cloverfield Lane is such a masterpiece. I could watch this movie over and over again
I think 2008 God on Trial and 2011 The Sunset Limited are good movies on that category too
I knew Locke would be here as soon as I saw the title
amazing video as always. Thank you for your work
I remember acting on 12 Angry Men for our English class. We were required to watch the film. I loved every single second of the movie.
I'd have put The Guilty upper (on the list I mean), and I recommend you seeing Marie Octobre, a great French movie from 1959! Great video as always! Una giornata particolare by Etorre Scola Is great too.
I like that Coherence is mentioned. This movie is good but few people know it.
What about saw? The first Saw? Its good ...
Coherence and Moon are among my favourite films. Want to go and try Locke, Caveat and The Guilty Now. Raid and The Thing are good shouts too.
It's been a long time since I watched it, but the sci-fi mystery movie _Cube_ is one I have fond memories of. Slow paced and almost surreal, it's something that leaves a lasting impact.
Another good one is _Seite años_ ('Seven Years'). A prisoner's dilemma-esque thriller set entirely in an office building, it focuses on a group of colleagues who have to decide who among them will take the blame for a corruption scandal that will otherwise send them all to jail.
Last but not least: how could I forget about Quentin Tarantino's _Reservoir Dogs_ and _Hateful Eight_ ?
I was really hoping The Hateful Eight would be on the list. It utilized perfectly the use of very wide screen, as you can observe every characters movements.
loved that The Raid is appreciated.
I love one location movies. I'll have to check out some of these. Circle is a really good movie as well.
Hell yeah this is my favorite genre 🔥🔥🔥
What about The Invitation?
I really like The Invitation 👍
Coherence is new title for me, thanks for the plot synopsis; I'll seek it out. A film with 1 location I admired, "The Florida Project"
'The Man from Earth' is awesome!
I would recommend The invitation, so good ! Great list tho !
10 or more years ago i saw one on arte tv.
The setting is a room, the camera angle stays the same for the whole 80 minutes or so,
in it a group of Nazi officers is sitting on tables to have dinner and they are passing a rare stamp,
some minutes in one of them realizes the stamp is gone and now they need to find the person who took it in the room.
It was a brilliant watch, but i can not remember name or origin - most likely from Europe...
The raid was a good movie I forgot all about that movie. I loved this video and all the others
I am surprised that Buried was not part of the list save a screenshot at the end, it doesn't get more confined space than Buried. Also one of the exceptional videos of Screened in which I have seen all the films recommended except My Dinner with Andre and a few of the audience picks. But extremely happy that The Man From Earth got a shout out, it is criminally underrated.
Watched more than a half, cool!
one of the all time great one-location films is "wait until dark"
Carnage! Why is there not a single one comedy one-location film?
"Phone Booth". I think it's one of the most creative and clever action movies of all time. With pretty much the entire film with the main character stuck inside a New York phone booth.
“Phone booth” should be on the list to.
Few of the enjoyable one location movies not mentioned here that I’ve seen are “Buried”, The Exam” and “ Cube”
I'd add Wait until Dark with Audrey Hepburn definitely worth watching
Again and again and again: thanks for existing, I'm so fucking glad I'm subscribed to this channel
Much appreciated 👍
At the end of Father, I was sobbing so hard I could barely breath, probably the saddest movie I've seen
1. Free Fire (the entire movie takes place inside an old warehouse)
2. All My Friends Are Dead (a black comendy where a news eve party goes terribly wrong)
3- Circle (..inside a dark room)
Favourite one location films: FRIENDSHIP'S DEATH and EX MACHINA
The film Inserts is not only a one-location movie, it easily could have been adapted from a stage play (I don’t think it was) due to adhering to Aristotle’s unities of time, plot and yes, place, all requisite conditions in ancient Greek stagecraft. It’s one of my favorite movies, tightly scripted, well acted, funny and highly entertaining.
Pontypool, very very good. Reminds me of Alan Wake for some reason. Amazing plot, brilliantly acted.
The Celebration or Festen is a great Danish film thats filmed in one location. One of my all time favorite movies.
Coherence is an UNDERRATED GEM. 🖤
I'd dare to suggest Perfect Strangers by Paolo Genovese
Ex Machina is one of the most amazing films
I didn't see mentioned these, so I add...
One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest (1975)
Misery (1990)
Sunshine (2007)
Passengers (2016)
Sunshine is so goddamn good.
Could Who is Afraid of Virginia Wolf, The Exterminating Angel and La Grande Bouffe be on this list?
Coherence is amazing.
Rope by Hitchcock and mother! by Aronofsky are also great, captivating one location movies
Sublime.
I think my top one location movie has to be 1408. Even if you think you're out, you're not.
im surprised dog day afternoon wasn’t on this list altho the last 10 minutes does take place somewhere else. probably my favorite film
Buried. The smallest setting I've ever seen for a movie. Amazing thriller.
'Clash' for one of the best non english speaking films. All set in the back of a police vehicle as people are being rounded up in the turmoil of Egypt's failed transition to democracy.
For such a crampt setting it's amazing how well the movie turned out.
I'm honestly shocked that The Hateful Eight wasn't mentioned. It's set up almost exactly as a play with one room and a revolving door conversation between all the characters.
1408 is about a demon hotel room where the people in it are stuck repeating the same hour untile they decide to kill themselves. Such a great movie
THE RAID IS THE ONE
Funny Games is another great one.
The Raid is so good. It's just so so so good
10 Cloverfield Lane was great... except for that ending.
