    My wife's grandfather, Brynjulf Johannessen Rogne, came from Voss to Kindred, North Dakota in 1900. His two brothers who stayed in Voss were carpenters on the Bergen Line and built many stations, including the one at Finse. My wife and I love watching these videos, since so many places are familiar to her. Most of the Norwegians who came to Kindred to farm were from Hallingdal, and there is still a Gol Lutheran Church a few miles outside of town.

      Seriously. I'll bet because of you, more non-Norwegians think about Norway these days than since, I'll guess the Lillehammer Olympics. Everyone who has watched this channel for only a short while wants to ride this line. You should receive a percentage of the gross amount of post-covid Norwegian tourism income for at least five years, adjusted for inflation if necessary. Almost every inquisitive person has visited this site in the past month. And we're dying to visit Geilo.

    Cow Girl, Your cab rides are my boyhood dream come true. They are SPECTACULAR! I'm 84 and haven't been to Norway since 1960 when a buddy and I toured extensively in an old VW. I'm in the Dallas area and could use some of your cool air about now. Please leave your informative placards on screen for a lot longer as they add a whole lot to the trip. Thanks.

    I like the tunnels. The different types of construction used to build the tunnels fascinates me .... makes you think the workers did whatever they had to do to get the tunnel thru ! Then there's the various lights and signs inside the tunnels, and no lights in some. And in the Winter scenes, there is the occasional open place where the snow gets in. And I'm always looking to "see the light at the end of the tunnel" ! It's all a part of the trip, the same trip the Driver sees. The slider is always there for those who need it. I won't need it, since I'll probably be asleep before the 5th tunnel anyway........

    Thank you again HinduCowGirl! Just started watching. Love all the extras you put in your videos, the walk up to the train, entering the cab, checking the dials etc. It really adds to the whole experience. When I was little the driver of our local Aberfeldy - Ballinluig train, known as the Coffee Pot, invited me and my grandad up on to the footplate, but I was too scared of all the hissy steam and fiery boiler. (I saw the very last train there off in 1965, a Deltic diesel)

    What a great video. Very interesting and informative startup. Would really like to see more of the engine.
    I see below in the comments that there is some disagreement with regard tunnels. I have to say I do enjoy the tunnels, so I hope you don't get rid of them. However, maybe if you make a few videos without the tunnels, this may keep those who don't like them happy.
    But to be truly honest. I fail to see why anyone would be complaining about anything you have filmed. You are doing it to entertain people who have now become your fans and it was the whole trip, tunnels included, that got you all these fans in the first place. I am happy to watch tunnels, windscreen wipers, and snow black-outs as you plow through the snow. Your videos are so clear and very informative, plus they are mesmerizing.
    Keep doing what you do @HinduCowGirl. Don't change a thing and thank you for giving us the privilege of being inside your office which is somewhere no one ever gets to see.

    • @wagmiorngmi
      @wagmiorngmi 7 лет назад +1

      I think people complain too much. It is not difficult to move the playback slider along by a few mins if it's really causing people so many problems. If HCG can be bothered, it is quite trivial to do this in the video editing software anyway - you just insert a 'skip to ... ' button on the video and when clicked it will jump whatever point has been set, but I can imagine this would be time-consuming to do for every tunnel!

    • @shreksswamp9001
      @shreksswamp9001 7 лет назад +4

      The videos are perfect as they are. And as you have pointed out, anyone can just move the slider forward. I would not like to see HCG overburdened with trying to satisfy all these requests. She has graciously decided to film her journeys, then share her videos with us. I am very happy with this and am always looking for the next instalment, knowing it will be as good as the last, no matter how many tunnels are in the video.

    • @WhiteTiger333
      @WhiteTiger333 6 лет назад +1

      Hear, hear Shrek! Definitely tunnels and all. As others pointed out, it's very easy to move the playback slider if one doesn't wish to go through the tunnel real time. The massive engineering accomplishments through those mountains is almost as mesmerizing as the scenery itself.

    • @shreksswamp9001
      @shreksswamp9001 6 лет назад

      Some of those tunnels are very old so I believe. I bet most were dug by hand. The power and ingenuity of men, never cease to amaze me!

    Well as always you have amazed me with another beautiful video. Sure glad I've been watching your other ones over and over. I done watched all the videos on youtube on Norway. I am addicted with this country. My dream place to visit. Nope won't get too. But my dreams coming true watching you in all your travels. May I ask which one of these beautiful cities do you live in? If so what do you like doing to pass the time when off from driving trains? Just wandering. Well looking forward to more of your videos keep them coming. Safe travels ahead. God bless.

    That section were the river is on the left, reminds me of the New York Central water rout from NYC To Albany NY. Palasades across the river. Back in the day it was a 4 main line track.4 track main line.

    Those tunnels are scary! I've just googled Ulriken Tunnel and it's 7.7 km long! That would freak me out! Great video though and wonderful scenery.

    Love the "magic hour" or the "blue hour" , i.e. dusk, twilight: anywhere within the hour before sunrise or within the hour after sunset .

    what a superb video. thank you.
    i have one question. i wanted to see the exact point, after crossing myrdal station, where the line to Flam goes to the left. it should have been around the 1:59:00 mark, but i miss it. perhaps because of the snow!
