I just picked up a Prospector 17 former rental from Swift Algonquin. With Bill Swift’s advice I got the right canoe for my needs. My chocolate lab Mari and I thank you.
I have had my 15' Kevlar fusion Swift prospector for three years and believe it to be the most versatile canoe around. I'm 67 and so like a light canoe to portage . The only down side to solo paddling is its tough to paddle on windy days but I believe that's true of all prospector tandems. Other than the wind it's a real pleasure to paddle I'm a Canadian so I paddle like a Canadian. I have been on large lakes on multi day trips with a friend and it does take on more water in white caps than a larger canoe would but the trade off is the shorter length is more maneuverable in creeks, and again lighter than a larger canoe to portage. Mandy and Daisy my two golden retrievers ride in this canoe with no problems and that 180 pounds of dog. I would say if your only buying one canoe and want something to take into remote lakes or a nice evening paddle this is the canoe.
I love my Swift Prospector 16! It might not be the quickest boat, but ULTRA stable and maneuverable on the water. So much room inside for gear (and legs!) and even when it's fully loaded there's a bunch of freeboard so those rough waves just roll right off. When I'm deep in the backcountry with a 12 hour trip to the next campsite and unknown weather... I'll take a stable, comfortable craft like the prospector over any other.
I've run the 15' Swift kevlar fusion for a few years and its what makes me get out and about, if I had a heavier boat I wouldn't be as apt to get out. You can find it in use on a number of my videos. Fantistic boat! used mostly solo. I may take out the stern seat.
Darn it, I'm trying to hold off on having you guys build me another boat and then you put out this video! I've been happily paddling my carbon fusion Adirondack 13.6 pack boat around Algonquin for over a year, and now I'm thinking about a Prospector in expedition kevlar for the rocky rivers around where I live (Goderich). I love the traditional lines of the Prospector. I'd get it as a 14' boat with the multi-height seat pods so I can use it as a pack boat or for traditional paddling. Brandon, if you read this, you'll probably hear from me some time in the New Year...and great job showing off these boats in the video!
we are based in Canada but have distribution throughout the U.S and Europe. If you're interested e-mail swift@swiftcanoe.com and we can let you know what options are available.

you need a nickname for your canoe Stef. Like the Green Machine.
@@SwiftCanoeKayak Way ahead of you, her name is Eden! A little less thrilling than The Green Machine, but I think it's nice nonetheless haha
@@StefOutside Eden is far classier than my idea
StefOutside Hey just saw your comment. Love the name.
You have a beautiful canoe

Brandon with the banger paddle skills!! Hmm is it too much to have both a Keewaydin AND a prospector? Haha great video guys, best canoes on the market
