Being a prepper I have tons of NiMH rechargeable batteries and chargers that can be used with lightweight portable folding solar panels. But I ordered two higher capacity sets of Tenergy batteries for my 340. I got an open box deal on my 340 and saved 30 bucks and the 8 batteries were about 12-14 I think. Still using the first set after about 6 hours of hunting and testing. Always discharge NiMH batteries completely each time unlike lithium ion to keep them healthy and preserve their capacity. They`ll last many years that way. I have some I bought in 2016 that were used each night in a radio while I slept and they still work at about 70% original capacity.
Love this video,my hat,s off to Minelab engineering on all their machines ,as well as all their products!, way above the rest!, again thanks for such a great and informative videos.
I get your point on the AA battery tax. But I bought this exactly for that reason. I wanted a machine that would not break the bank for my first machine and I happen to have 12 AA rechargeable batteries and a charger. Thanks for a good review.
Definitely a cool video with some great info bud. I was wo during how that Vanquish would be. I look forward to seeing the other 2 machines you bought!!!

@@MetalDetectingChannel I have seen comments before that say you can’t link. However, I have seen links and clicked on them recently. Lol. Probably a secret way to do it. Lol. I’ll try on a different video. 👍
Man I love the 340 and the 540 I just need to get the 440 and the Nox 800 to just have the run of the Best. Great video and it is good to know that at 6 inches you can dig a nice gold ring if it is under the coil ..Great video man ..
Most bottle caps you can reject with the Vanquish, at least with the 540 model....I hunt in Jewelry mode with nothing notched out so I hear the positive tone with mixed grunt from the cap..Also, the # I D goes all over the place, especially when you change sweep angle!....It seems to work for me and I don't come home with too many bottle caps!...Sometimes I'll dig them just to verify the machine is doing it's job!
That’s really cool! I know the Nox can do that too. I’m still worried to leave a goodie behind, so I usually dig everything. I do play the guessing game & im correct most of the time. Damn it! 😆
I'm going to buy a metal detector and I'm thinking about minelab vanquish 340, f22, or a cheaper one. What do you think is best to start with? I'm interested in vanquish 340
340 is awesome but needs batteries. You will regret that. I would suggest a legend for its all around abilities. I love equinox as well. I would suggest saving a week or two extra a get a $500 machine if you want to hunt the beach. If little beach I suggest the nokta simplex.
Simple, cheap, good, waterproof, wireless headphones, tough as nails, nice back light plus a flashlight. Oh yeah it folds up nice and small so it stays in my trunk oh one last thing it’s rechargeable. My simplex hates Florida beaches but loves Oklahoma dirt. God bless and happy hunting
Hey Derek can you tell me if the coil for the vanquish and the equinox are compatible with each other..was thinking of getting the vanquish 340 so I can possibly switch the smaller coil to equinox for detecting in tight area..or possibly get more depth with the vanquish and equinox coil.. let me know if that would be possible or maybe a great video to work on..
They are not. The 6” round coil is a great coil. Runs with less interference so you can run the sensitivity higher. I’ve only found a few inches difference between all three coils. Appreciate the question and you watching thank you 🙏
Pretty cool. For me personally I dig everything. But I'm new at it. Started out with the garrett at pro and just upgraded to the equinox 800. Keep up the good work!
@@MetalDetectingChannel well I should say I dig everything on the beaches. Usually end up with a Walmart bag full of junk and enough change to buy me lunch!
Wow, ok I just returned a PANCKY brand ($120) which is the best “amazon” brand. (Had $150 gift card) Was about to give an extra $50 cash on the 340. But the 440 is $150 more. Other then batteries. Is the 340 better then the pancky. If not, I’ll just buy that one again. I don’t go often, maybe 1-2 a week. But I also want to make sure my MD is accurate. That’s my concern. I go to beach and parks, but I don’t put MD in water, just use it on damp sand, which is why I returned the PANCKY. Was beeping everywhere over damp sand. Also, the macro, I heard is not good around salt water. So that’s why I’m Staying away. I don’t put them in water, but I heard it’s not good over damp saltwater sand.
Way better!!! So glad you posted this!! I think those amazon models should be outlawed! It literally ruins first time experience! I would recommend the 440 just for the battery reason and the Legend is becoming the machine I recommend vs the equinox. The simplex is squawky at the beach. Don’t be scared to save for another month to get an upgrade. The 340 is a great first detector to give to kids when you decide to upgrade 😉
I have had my 340 now for about 2 months yes it eats batteries but that's a price i can pay when i get the fun to use it in return. And it goes DEEP i hit a large metal object at about 25 inches it was a fight to dig it. Also it picks up extremely small items at about 2-4 inch like a small nugget and so on
Great comment about the #vanquish340 The technology is now available in most machines and now the manufacturer will compete to see who can flood the market with entry level pricing. Ie Nokta. When you are wanting more I would recommend the 900 or Manticore. I will give you a lesson when ready to purchase 😎
I wil use it a bit more before doing my 2 purchase. Only negative experience whit the 340 is no pinpointer function it should have it even 60-100$ detectors has pinpointer
@AnonymAnonym-fv3uc I NEVER use pinpoint. The response on the 340 is plenty good enough. Listen to the multiple sound. Meaning the different spots that cause the detector to sound off. The coil shape is really conducive to easy centering.
where do you buy batteries for ten bucks lol 4 aa's are 2 at most stores. just got an 8 pack of aa for $4 and dollar tree has 8 packs aa for $1. my bounty hinter uses 2 9volts and lasts all summer
You right, I got a bounty hunter Lone star pro. The 9volts last forever. I really like it, But have problems with it at the beach not functioning properly cause of the mineralize sand. Are you having the same problems by chance?
