You have another subscriber and I look forward to your other videos. 🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁 I would also like to add that this concept of having an electronic kit wireless is a god-send and is something I've been contemplating for a very long time. The thought of eliminating all of the cables/wires from my electronic kit is a wish come true and was always a pain to setup on a gig. The option for either an e-kit or an acoustic kit is beyond what I was hoping for. We're getting two kits for the price of one and we all know that in the price it will include the cost for this new technology, I don't know how people can complain about the price when Roland and DW have their kits costing the same if not more, and you only get one kit. Worth every penny if you ask me. I have only one concern and question; As for using my Roland TD-50, I'm sure that Roland will add the setup trigger type for these triggers on all of their drum modules. Do you know if they plan of releasing an update/firmware for adding this trigger type?
Wonderful looking and sumptuous sounding kit. The module is really nicely designed as well. Can't wait to see yoir full review, Luke. Thank you for this teaser. Cheers from Oz.

In other words my wife has no issues with the TD50 but will she hate this. 2) I’d like to see a comparison to the TD50 (or other Roland modules). How much flexibility do I have to make changes? Can I create custom kits? Can I pick individual cymbals from the module or are you limited to a cymbal pack? 3) will you be able to make and sell custom kits like you do today for the Roland modules 4) can I use my TD50 pads and module to expand this kit? For example if I wanted to use my Roland pads as Rototoms or other percussion instruments can I do that? Thanks. Love the channel!!
1) I have tried them. They are a bit louder than a TD50 kit, especially the cymbals. 2) It is not a module. It's software with lots of flexibility to create kits. 3) Check out the retailers. They list individual drums for sale. 4) No. The DWe wireless components exclusively work with the trigger module. However, you can merge MIDI devices into the software using your computer.

Fantastic vid Luke. It’s a beautiful looking kit for sure and any concerns about latency appear unfounded. Sounds amazing. Looking forward to the full review vid.
This is the next big step in e drums and everyone knows it, the only question is, when other manufacturers will catch up so the tech will go down to the middle line drums.
Okay. So, as usual…DW KILLS IT!! Dude. So freaking amazing. Absolutely amazing. I’m down for spending $10,000 for this kit. Always an admirer of DW but, they are not my fave brand (Yamaha), however, they just became my fave e-drum brand. Great vid, bro!
I'm curious to know if the bass drum trigger can distinguish between laying off, and burying the beater. It would be a shame if every other instrument gets a more or less full range of expression, but the poor bass drum only gets to thump away with one sound.
this is the first acoustic/electonic kit ive sen that actually made me think for a sec whether I would ever move from my kit to something else....lol...fleeting thought but a thought nonetheless.
What I want to know is the latency in milliseconds. I don't buy that there is no latency to speak of when you're transmitting data wirelessly. If the latency is more than 5ms, I might not get a set. If it's less, I might consider it
I definitely don't have the means (or motivation) to do any proper in-depth testing of the wireless/trigger latency. What I can say from using the kit however is that there's no perceptible difference between triggering a VST from the DWe and using another fast drum module like the TD-50X, so it's at least as fast. No matter what connection method is used, they've all got some processing to do before sending the MIDI out (scan time etc), then of course there's the latency from your computer/interface which is present to some degree no matter what you use too.
@@TheeDrumWorkshop that's good to hear. I know it was never going to be no latency. I just don't want the latency to affect the latency already present on my current set up. Thanks for the response!
Let's see if it really is the next big step. Thank you for the video. Here are my questions: Is latency still an issue? If so, what does it depend on and are there any measured values? Can I record MIDI and audio on the computer via USB (as with some Roland modules)? Does it have USB to MIDI? Does it work very well with EZ & Superior Drummer? Are the two outputs balanced audio? Does the snare also have the "sidestick sensor technology with hand detection" like the Roland digital snare? Can I load my own multisamples (not just one shots) into the software and play them? Thanks a lot!
I may have missed this being answered in a previous video, but nobody seems to demonstrate the volume levels of the kit 'in the room', the very reason a lot of people want/need an e-kit.
Hey thanks Luke !!! Question: What do you think is more responsive, with more dynamics ? The Roland digital snare, hi-hat and ride, or the DW ones ? Basically...lol Did DW take away the title from the Roland digital 3 ? Like which has a better rim shot on the snare, etc and more positional sensing on the hi hat and ride ? Can you get all the intricacies with metal hi hats as you can on the Roland digital 14 hi-hats ? I'm in the middle of Pennsylvania, so there's not many music stores with edrums to try out. I can't wait to see you go in depth with these drums. The price point is insane but I might be willing to do it. I want to know more about the cymbals. Can you mute the ride like you can on digital Roland just by touching it?
Exciting and i love the wireless tech but price out of reach for the 99.9%. Buying the trigger system by itself would be more financially feasible for most
I have a 1978 custom ordered set of Tama Imperialstars back when they were 9 ply mahogany that I would love to be able to add these triggers, software and cymbals to
So excited for this and for the full review! If it's not on your list I'd love to add these suggestions! 1. more about the cymbals! What models and makes have they sampled? How do they respond to tip and shoulder of the stick on the edge, bow and bell? How do the sounds compare to other VSTs like GGD, SS etc. 2. Can you pick and choose each part like you can on other ekits? Almond snare with maple kick, this hi hat with that ride etc? 3. Does it sense when you play into the head and out the head? Even on the kick? 4. Can you use a bigger interface to send multiple out to front of house? 5. How does the tension of the head effect the response, feel, sound etc? Sorry for all the questions but this sh*t is ground breaking!! Also, new to this channel and loving it so far and nice to hear someone in the UK talking about this kind of thing as well!
I'll make sure all of this makes it in! For 2 and 4 though - 2) Yeah, you can build kits out of any parts and the software can also load in multi-layered samples to build your own instruments 4) Yes, you can use any interface and there's a host of routing options for multiple outputs if you need them.
Can someone please clarify if these are DW Collectors series shells? A video of how they sound played as an acoustic kit would also be very helpful in deciding if this can be a kit that scratches the itch a top shelf acoustic and electric kit all in one.
Goddammed this looks like the best e-kit ever made! What do you think? I think the downside of this kit is that it is very loud especially the cymbal noise.
The thing im waiting for is backwards compatibility as for me the hihat rubber feeling was always well bad and if this metal thing feels better i willconsider it if it can connect to a td27
These are obviously beautifully crafted, and will be of the highest quality build (and seemingly, by the sound of it) in terms of the samples and triggering. Yet, it strikes me as a bit of a miss in that having a 'real' DW, top of the line acoustic kit as the shells for a kit that--let's face it--most people will not be swapping back and forth (what a pain) from acoustic to electric, seems like an unnecessary luxury. It strikes me that one could buy a nice looking shell acoustic shell pack and good triggers for a reasonable price, and have beautiful drums triggering this same software, with probably the same experience. It is great that DW will be offering a variety of onramps, such as purchasing the individual components, like cymbals separately. If they do start to offer trigger packs, wow, what a competitor they'll be. Thanks for the intro video!
A beautiful kit as with most DW kits. But so so expensive and not even a hardware model included. Saying that, I own a flagship Roland TD-50k2 and I never use the TD-50x module now as I use Superior Drummer 3 and its SDXs, Because you just can not beat that and its sounds. Also, how loud is this in the room? resonance heads on the toms and the Kick and the metal cymbals can't be very silent that's for sure. noise production from the kit is the main reason for me to get an edit in the first place.
The bells on the cymbals seems to be much more decoupled than others on the market. That probably kills a lot of ghost hits which plagues some company.
Is there an option to connect these pads to an existing module via cables if needed? Also they should have added physical inputs on the midi module so you can add third party pads. Anyone who buys this is locked in the DW wireless ecosystem. Any addition will cost a fortune.
Just wondering how you would use this in a live sitaution, sending outs to the sound desk?? I use my TD50X module by asigning outs as needed so the sound guys have control.. Great demo btw, love the wireless tech and everything else.. Hopefully one day ;)
Can you take your own samples or samples from other software and load them in? Say if you wanted some percussion (cowbell or chimes) or electronic sounds to stick on a rim or aux pad?
Wow the sound is great!! The future is bright for eDrums 😀 And superb playing as well, mate! So no internal sound module right? Directly midi out to the (various) softwares. This kit is a stunner!
Great video as always Luke. My question I'd be looking for an answer to is: I use a 7pc VAD706 (kick, 3 toms, 2 floors, snare & 4 crashes/ride/hi hat). It's used live at shows, running all the outputs from the TD50X to our monitor rig, using a splitter box for our A&H rack desk & then FoH to take their own feed, allowing the engineer 8 outputs to control the Roland kit. We already knew that a MacBook would be required as a module isn't supplied, but 1) can you use a new iPad Pro instead of a laptop? 2) How easy and could you do a video, of replicating my scenario, for those that would potentially use this DWe to replace their Roland VAD kit in a live situation & the steps/equipment required to make this happen? My worry is, the pay off for the reduction in 'cable snake' is offset with the additional equipment you need to do what a VAD kit does. Final question, I'd like to really know your honest opinion on DWe vs VAD706. Thanks, Joe.
I’m in the same situation as you! I’m ready to purchase this kit…IF….the questions that you have already asked is answered. 8 outputs is a MUST for my situation!!!
I like everything except for the hi hat. Can you tell us if the hi hat is capable of moving more like the other cymbals with realistic movement? Also, when you open and close the hi hats while you’re playing it sounds fake (it just nuts the sound completely with no ambience following). Like I said before, if the hi hats aren’t moving naturally, that would totally annoy me to no end. I don’t how they would make a realistic kit with all pieces sounding and feeling great but then have a mediocre hi hat. That wouldn’t make any sense. Is that because you have them tightened that way…..hopefully you see this comment and respond to it. I would really appreciate it, thanks for your review, talent, and time to show us.
I agree!! I played these at a local drum store and the high hat can not be loosened. It makes no sense to me. The set itself is awesome but the cymbals suck!
Great Demo and information. What provisions are provided to use the set in a live venue, ie. sending the signals to the main stage sound system?? Thanks in advance.
Great video, thank you! My question: I’ve seen that there are zones for the tom part, the rim, and in between but would you say that one would be able to do timbale -like stuff on the toms? I guess, basically, are there more than three trigger possibilities on the toms?
How much of a step forward is this for Edrums. Can we expect this sort of tech to trickle down now that its been done. or will this remain unattainable for us plebs
I want to see roland use the digital tech for the snare ride and hats on this also I dont know why they opted for using fsr style triggers I've heard they dont handle velocity as well seems like its volume is abit abrupt and jarring between zones occasionally as a result and it missed some notes occasionally on cymbal hits
The volume between zones is a sample thing more than anything. Where did you see missed notes? I've got all the MIDI recorded from my performances, pretty sure everything I played was tracked correctly.
@@TheeDrumWorkshop it may have been my phone speakers then my bad. I've noticed it on a few other demos tho Justin over at 65 drums was having some issues with it

I'll make sure all of this makes it in! For 2 and 4 though -
2) Yeah, you can build kits out of any parts and the software can also load in multi-layered samples to build your own instruments
4) Yes, you can use any interface and there's a host of routing options for multiple outputs if you need them.
@@TheeDrumWorkshop ah awesome! Thank you!!
Can someone please clarify if these are DW Collectors series shells? A video of how they sound played as an acoustic kit would also be very helpful in deciding if this can be a kit that scratches the itch a top shelf acoustic and electric kit all in one.
$11k is fuckin nuts. $9k maybe I'd think about it but thats ridiculous
Absolutely agreed.
I just converted my kit and. now I find out that my favorite drum co. has a e kit.
“HAW-haaaaaaaw” … Yeah, ‘Murphy’ is a €#n+ …
Goddammed this looks like the best e-kit ever made! What do you think?
I think the downside of this kit is that it is very loud especially the cymbal noise.
looks like you could you mount their triggers in any drums.
The thing im waiting for is backwards compatibility as for me the hihat rubber feeling was always well bad and if this metal thing feels better i willconsider it if it can connect to a td27
I'm sure it cost an arm and a leg but very cool also can you use the software with other pads like roland
If 10K is an arm or leg.
My body parts are worth more than that.
Hopefully one day ;)
After I pay 749 for the shells. How much more money would I need to complete this drum set?
Great demo. Curious if the bells on the cymbals are a bit small?
Can you take your own samples or samples from other software and load them in? Say if you wanted some percussion (cowbell or chimes) or electronic sounds to stick on a rim or aux pad?
Yes
Wow the sound is great!! The future is bright for eDrums 😀
And superb playing as well, mate!
How would you send to FOH? Can FOH get individual channels like just kick, snare, hat?
Aqui do Brasil, acompanhando você neste lançamento. Obrigado
Obrigado!
Any idea when they'll be up for preorder in the UK?
Great video Luke!
Can you do a comparison between DWe sounds vs Superior Drummer 3?
Will they make effects cymbals? Like chinas and splashes? Would stack effect work too?
Great Demo and information. What provisions are provided to use the set in a live venue, ie. sending the signals to the main stage sound system??
Thanks in advance.
Have you got any idea who will be stocking them in the UK? Seems that they are being distributed by Roland UK, not the usual DW Chanels!
Yes!
Wow. This is impressive. Finally an electronic kit that I find acceptable. It’s incredibly expensive though, but still…
I want to see roland use the digital tech for the snare ride and hats on this also I dont know why they opted for using fsr style triggers I've heard they dont handle velocity as well seems like its volume is abit abrupt and jarring between zones occasionally as a result and it missed some notes occasionally on cymbal hits
The volume between zones is a sample thing more than anything. Where did you see missed notes? I've got all the MIDI recorded from my performances, pretty sure everything I played was tracked correctly.
@@TheeDrumWorkshop it may have been my phone speakers then my bad. I've noticed it on a few other demos tho Justin over at 65 drums was having some issues with it
Hi Luke! Would you be comfortable giving us your opinion on which plugins sound better, if the in-house DW or something like Superior 3 or Slater Drums? And how easy is it to multi-ouptut to a DAW? Thanks! :)
What do the cymbals sound like when played with mallets? And the drums when played with rods or brushes?
Very cool
Great video👌🏻, any idea if there will be other finishes for the e-set available soon as well? Also, other cymbal pad sizes/shapes? Tnx
Nice!!! Wish List item!!!! :-)
"What do I need to get going?" A whole lotta money!!!
