Just wanna say thanks for all the tutorials you uploaded. It's really helpful for people in the industry. I studied architecture in Sydney and somebody with your specialty is greatly needed in the Universities
Thanks for the kind words! I'm pleased to say that I just finished teaching my first semester in BIM at USyd, it was great to teach a class all about BIM before they enter the industry.
@@AussieBIMGuru Great to hear that , graduated from UTS myself and I think it would be beneficial for students to learn more about BIM in architecture related courses
@@tanjirahmed3046 it all depends on what you want to use Dynamo for and whether you can get enough value for custom packages by others. I would say if you aren't sure what you need python for specifically then it isnt time for you to need it in your learning journey. I learnt dynamo for 2 years before i needed any python.
I wonder why I should learn to code in oder to use revit API,cause there are so many great packages out there.I don't think I could code better than them I‘ve learned a bit but seldom use it cause the node which alread exists can solve a lot problems I met.But I will learn eventually as long as I got plenty of time and it can be useful and more efficient.
It depends on whether you wish to make more customized code and addins or tools for pyrevit i think. Deploying packages across companies is also quite challenging so that is often why many stop using as many custom packages in the end. Personally I began for that reason but also came to find that Python could do things more directly and quickly in a lot of cases versus nodes. Iteration is much easier than getting list levels to achieve complex outcomes sometimes also.
Hey, I’m using revit 2021 and just access dynamo from there but my page looks differently from yours, I couldn’t see like the coordinate system, and when I was trying to use a + node I couldn’t see the result after connecting it with the watch node. Do you know what I might be doing wrong ?😅
I used R19 and Dynamo 2.0.3 so there will be a few small differences here and there most likely. The coordinate grid might be off, check if its enabled under the view settings. If a + node isn't returning a value to a watch node, make sure it has the inputs connected and that you are in automatic mode or have hit 'run' in manual mode.
Aussie BIM Guru hey, thank you for getting back to me, mine is in manual mode, so that’s why it didn’t show the result in the watch mode. It says it’s on, but it doesn’t look like yours.
I am a BIM technician for an Electrical Contractor and use Revit everyday. I really want to learn Dynamo but recently heard that its being discontinued....is this true?
Hi ABG, great Video's mate...just sinking my teeth into Dynamo...question... is it normal when adding a package too dynamo, both Revit & Dynamo crash? I'm installing all the custom packages in your recommendations from this Vid and its crashed about 5 times on a few various packages....
Thanks Simon, welcome to the journey into Dynamo and visual coding! It's typically not normal, although in older versions of Dynamo (1.3.4, 0.9 etc.) and for less supported packages (not updated for 6 months or more) there can be instability. I always recommend working and learning in version 2.0.3 (prior to 2020) or 2.3 in 2020 (although it's locked to the version, 2020.2.1 provides Dynamo 2.3). Typically on my channel I avoid unsupported packages wherever possible. Supported and useful packages include archilab, clockwork, springs, orchid and data shapes.
Hi, I learned a lot from your lecture. I have a favor to ask of you. I am Korean. So is it okay to refer to your video and make it in Korean? I'm going to make a video out of reference. Let me introduce your channel.

Glad it was helpful!

I have finished my first lesson and everything is very clear for me as beginner, great job man, thank you
Brilliant, you're most welcome.
Congratulations!
Thanks a lot for great videos, I do appreciate and strongly recommend!

Great explanation, I wanted a tutorial that places the floor following the topography.

when i type any valve in coad bloc 1 value appear and I cant make list by coad block
To make a list in a code block you need to surround your code in square brackets ( [ ] ).
