One vivid memory among all the faded ones from... yes... High School. They played at the Yorktown High School Prom in 1974. They were legend even then! Damn, I must be old... (sigh...)
used to see the nighthawks in a bar in western new york where we would go to drink legally New yorks drinking age was 18 Pennsylvania was 21. So i was 20 in 1979 watching one of the best live acts around.
@@blueridgebikeman Danny is a great guitarist and a really nice fellow to boot. I played a handful of gigs with him in DC just before he left for Florida.
@@bassmangotdbluz3547 I used to catch him in Roanoke, at The Coffee Pot. Never seen a guitar played like that. And, he was great eye candy for the girls -- as my wife reminded me. 😊
Way more talented! The Thunderbirds are better known for their one hit! No only that the Birds are the absolute nasty guys you’ll ever meet! Meet them at the WHFS Wine Festival in Annapolis and we drove them back in a limo to the hotel! Talk about snotty azz wipes! Doesn’t even touch the surface they were much worse than that! The Hawks on the other hand love their fans and take time to sign autographs and shake hands! Shoot one night Mark put me on the bands tab in Ocean City!
A movie named "The Wire" brought me here. This song starts after a character named Ziggy pulls his dic_ out in a crowded Longshoremen's Tavern. Them jokers had one crazy good time in that scene.
Mark Wenner is a blues harmonica genius.

Love that drum solo by my man Pete Ragusa!

I loved them so much with Jim Thackery on guitar. Always a great show with these guys.
I've seen this band more than any other over the past 40 years. I actually thought Danny Morris was a stronger guitarist than Thackery.

Mark is Da Man!
This Harmonica player and lead guitar are in total rhythm with one another. The Harmonica makes this song.

@dsdeutsch I saw them in 2005 and am seeing them this afternoon...They've still got it!
why these guys didn't get the hype that the Fabulous Thunderbirds did, I will never know.
