I always thought the snow queen was morally ambiguous rather than a villain. Yes she kidnapped Kai, but this only happens after he’s been enchanted by the mirror and begun causing trouble for his village. He’s evil enough at that point that when he disappears most of the villagers genuinely think Kai getting gone is a good thing. She then takes him back to her palace where she sets him a task that’s probably designed to be impossible while he’s enchanted, meaning it will occupy him for the rest of his life and he won’t be able to cause trouble in the outside world. Then when Gerta’s love breaks the curse she releases him without a fuss. Essentially she was only acting to keep something dangerous contained rather than out of any evil intent.
Also, the reason Kai is alone in the castle (at least in the translation I read) was because the snow queen was cooling a volcano to help with a harvest of some fruit, so she clearly does have good in her.
There are bits and pieces from the original Snow Queen fairy tale in the TV show Once Upon A Time…but Elsa wasn’t the snow Queen her Aunt was. In Once Upon A Time Elsa and Anna’s mother’s name was Gerta and she was the youngest sister of Ingrid (the snow Queen who was also the only one of her and her two sisters that had ice powers). In the show the middle sister accidentally died at the hands of the snow Queen and her own sister (Anna & Elsa’s mother) banished her and trapped her for many years. Once she was released from her trap, later on in a few episodes she cast a spell on the town that gave everyone that shattered mirror thing in the original fairy tale…they called it the curse of shattered sight and it did the same thing and made everyone think and see the worst in those they cared most about. Once Upon A Time has a lot of the original fairy tales original stories in it rather than the Disney adaptations of them. That’s one thing I really loved about that show.
Fairy Tales were more about teach hard lessons then entertaining, granted some were just ... messed up. Like how did you get a kids movie from ... that?
Nah this sounds too real to be fake. And most of us know that Disney knows stuff, it’s linked with the devil, because look at the tribute they give to the devil at Disney World. They have a whole building dedicated to Lucifer.
There were FOUR stone pillars at the entrance to the Enchanted Forest, each with a unique sigil for wind, fire water and earth. When Honeymaren explained the pattern on Idunna's scarf, she pointed out four, not six and certainly not eight, diamonds and a small white square, saying that the square represented a BRIDGE between nature and humanity, NOT another element. Elsa repeated this to Anna and Olaf before she told them of her decision to go to Attahallan and when she returned and Anna exclaimed "You are the Fifth Spirit, you're the bridge." Elsa replied that a bridge has two side and Idunna had two daughter, implying that the two sisters together were the Fifth Spirit. This provide a convenience explanation for why Anna never developed magic of her own, she was the human side of the bridge, and nicely fits their relationship: Anna always kept Elsa grounded. When Elsa first uncounted the Nokk in the ocean, he let get to the surface and catch a few breaths before attacking her. I doubt he would have done that if he just wanted to drown her. I think the other spirits wanted to test the Fifth Spirit; Elsa gained Gale's, Bruni's and Nokk's respect by subduing them and Anna won the Earth Giants' respect by making the decision to demolish the dam and risking her own life to see it done. I've heard that Josh Gad loves to improvise lines and that his calling out "Samantha" and the way he laughed at himself afterwards, was an example of that. The directors would have kept it because it was funny and actually fit Olaf's character, who was largely the comic relief, but it was probably unscripted and definitely never meant to be taken seriously. When Elsa was unfrozen, Nokk immediately appeared to take her to save Arendell, then back to the Enchanted Forest where he gracefully bowed so she could gracefully dismount, and at the end of the movie when she told Gale they were going for a ride, Nokk bounded out of a stream and pranced up to she where they touched foreheads. Clearly he had calmed down and was just as happy to take Elsa where ever she wanted to go as she was to ride him. Sometime a storm is just a storm. Given how important the death of the sisters' parents are to their stories and character growth, the worst thing the creators of Frozen could possible do is say "we were just kidding, see, their parents are alive." Especially if it's just to milk more money out of the franchise. I don't know what shipwreck you're referring to. The wreck I saw in Frozen II clearly had most of the ship together. Personally, I think part of the reason for having Elsa call up the memory of her and Anna's parents drowning was to put an end to all of those rumors about them being alive. Agnarr and Idunna did not have their older daughter's magic, or her immunity to cold. They would have been on the edge of hypothermia before they even reached Attahallan and would have succumb soon afterwards. That assumes that they would have even reached the glacier alive which, according to your earlier reasoning that the Nokk had deliberately sank their ship, would not have happened because he would have made sure everyone on the ship were dead. I think that Attahallan may have been a place where the walls between the worlds of the living and dead are thinner, as well as a place that stores what water remembers. In any case, I doubt that Elsa could even think after she had turned to ice which is why she had to send that message to Anna before she froze completely. How would Idunna have been able to send messages if she were an ice statue? I would rather the Frozen franchise end now than see Disney continue to make a list of worsening movies, as has happened with the likes of the Terminator and Alien franchises. Western Europe isn't the only place they can draw inspiration for their movies from and Moana and Raya and the Last Dragon shows that they know that.
According to IMDb, this is why Elsa was changed from a villain to a hero. "Originally, Queen Elsa was intended to be the villain of the story. However, when the character's major song, "Let It Go," was played for the producers, they concluded that the song was not only very appealing, but its themes of personal empowerment and self-acceptance were too positive for a villain to express. Thus, the story was rewritten to have Elsa as an isolated innocent who is alarmed upon learning that her powers are inadvertently causing harm and struggles to control her powers with Anna's help." And Kai & Gerda are in it as the characters Kristoff & Anna. "Kristoff and Anna were originally children called Kai and Greta, which can still be seen in early concept art. Eventually as the story changed they were aged up to adults and renamed Kristoff and Anna. Kristoff himself is based on both Kai and the Robber Girl from the original tale, whereas Anna is based on Gerda and the Summer Witch, whom according to some adaptations of The Snow Queen, is the title Queen's sister."
1 In the translation I have, the original trouble makers were goblins, not trolls. I don't know what they would have been in the original Danish. 2 I always thought that the mirror had shattered a few thousand years before Kia and Gerta were born. 3 It was a CROW who misdirected Gerta to that palace, not a cow. 4 Disney was planning to make Elsa not only the villain, but actually give her something villainous to do until the Lopezes started circulating early versions of Let It Go.
She was protecting her sister that's why she locked herself up to save her sister from her powers she is sweet and kind character she is not bad or evil.
I theorize that there are many different versions of this story about (ELSA) & I imagine that there are many different ways it is written. So there for it doesn’t surprise me that there is a version of (ELSA) who is a evil ruler.
I have known the fairy tale "The Snow Queen" by Hans Christian Anderson for a long time. I grew up with a Russian movie of it from the 60s which I loved very much (girl rescues boy and not the other way around!). Later as a young adult, I read the original story, which I thought was incredibly well crafted and written. I was so charmed, I set out to write this story down by hand and illustrate the margins like in old manuscripts (I didn't finish that 😅). The story really is very beautiful and I recommend reading it yourself! P.S. So everything in this video was well known to me, because I have loved the story so long and well. But thanks for reminding me of it! I haven't read it in years!
These are kids movies. Take Narnia and the Snow Queen for example. Based off these two movies we can conclude that Elsa is based off these movies. What other queen it is there that can make ice and snow with her powers?!
Just let all of the little kittens know the snow queen in the story did not have a name she’s just calling her Elsa just to make it more interesting But it would be funny if it was her name but if it isn’t
I thought there was an entire court case about someone about someone accusing of Usage of the snow Queen. Didn't they win and say it's actually based off of a different story.
i had already watched animated anime like versions of the snow queen when i was very little and before i even watched elsa so i just wasted 11 minutes of my life hearing smt i already seens years ago ugh
To say the truth i didn't see the snow queen as bad or evil here,it's not that she broke the mirror or turned kai bad, besides the video saied he was treating his family, childhood friend and everybody else bad.Yes she kidnapped him but even saved him from a life full of embarrassment. And we should learn to not hate the villains to much after all the mc's wouldn't have had their happy endings without them, like kai being saved by the girl, and kai not causing more trouble for the people after the queen took him,so even the girl didn't end up hating him(if he had staied there who knows maybe even the girl and his family would have ended up hating him)so yeah. The queen didn't do to him anything much either. I haven't read the book though so please spoil me about the queen a little.

There is a cartoon version of frozen already made but the names of the main characters are completely different from the original story and the names are: Ellie and Tom.
I think you sort of cut the ending of the original story. The snow queen was actually cursed due to those shards of mirror. But when the curse was lifted, she returned to her original form as the summer fairy.

Hans Christian Anderson also wrote The Little Mermaid in 1837. Disney Animation Studios adapted it in 1989. 🧜🏼♀

@Elsa's Fan Queen 🥶👸 Um have you ever actually read The Snow Queen by Hans Christian Andersen? Trust me. She's not the hero.

Yes, I knew that she was supposed to be evil. The directors changed the story because of the song Let it Go.

I've known that for years.
I only liked Frozen 2 but I hate the first movie but I prefer the Snow Queen movies, my fav is the Snow Queen 2 and the Snow Queen ice and fire 🔥 ❄️
Kai and Gerda were also in Frozen as well, but not as main characters, they were servants for Anna and Elsa. And they are adults.
