Love the videos chip, keep them up. But to my knowledge this is not a motorsport edition, it is a regular chrome bumper convertible which has an mtech 2 kit.
The motorsport edition only came in Nagaro silver, Macau Blue, Calypso Red, Sebring Silver and Mauritus Blue.
All of the cars had motorsport suspension, and they could be optioned with auto or manual gearboxes.
The first/2nd batch of Nagaro Silver and Macau Blue cars all had full Grey leather interior including the door panels, inside of door pockets, tops of ash trays and centre tunnel (all e30 leather door panels have stitching at an angle like this / / /, not horizontal).
The next batch of Sebring silver and Macau Blue cars had either Black bubble interior or grey bubble interior respectively (the bubble design reffers to the actual seat material not the way they are stitched. The horizontal stitching on your car is the standard convertible sport seat pattern)
The last batch of Mauritus Blue and Calypso Red cars had White Lotus full leather interior.
Non of the cars had standard black interior.
The chrome bumper cars had colour coded bumpers and the Mtech 1 kit was optional (No e30 chrome bumper ever came with mtech 2 kit, and it could not be optioned as the kit was not available at the time the chrome bumper cars were available). The facelift cars (plastic bumper) all came with mtech 2 kits.
I suppose all of that could have been changed, so the only real way to know is to email bmw uk and ask them for the cars option list, the most important option would be 798 which refers to the motorsport edition.

Hey bud. Thanks for watching and giving feedback. So, I did some research on a few sites, and there were some inconsistencies on each site. However, I based the video and information on the most common factors, which is what I mentioned in the video. The tell tale of what this car is will be in the feedback we get from bmw uk. So I will be emailing them and trying to trace the exact detail of what this car is and spec. I'll definitely do a follow-up video.🙂 thanks for sharing the info and also correcting me . we definitely need to change the color, though.
Beautiful car brother Chip I would agree on the Blue and I know you love matching your cars with BMW wheel but maybe is you do the blue then match that with an original Ewing Emotion wheel with that emotion in that blue colour

Do the Macau Blue with the Polished lip 5 spoke rims on static with the current wheel fitment, stance, camber, toe and alignment 👌🏾but if it wasn't for the speciality of the car I would go for a cream interior but rather go for the grey it will complement the blue better make it pop more than the current blue interior

I would go for the red color because it give it a more brighter presents and it' is very chulo than the other colors.e30is bbs would look nice and OEM+ if you going for that originality look or any wheel would suit the car.
wheel choice is a tough one ! Autostyling has these 5 star Centre lock style rims. called AS - 360 . 8.5 fronts and 10j rears , those would look good honestly.

Nice car but it’s not a motor sport edition. The car supposed to have two tone black leather and cloth. They never came with all black leather. Secondly the door cards and Mtec 2 centre is not correct lastly the colour isn’t correct. The colour of the car corresponds or the interior. This is a great car but it’s just not the Msport edition. Please correct the info . All the info you need is on e30zone
Hi, thanks for watching. Lighting was a bit bad due to loadshedding 🙂. However, it is not a black interior but rather a dark navy blue interior. The spec complication comes in due to the car being imported into SA and the car being white. Bmw UK will be able to help us solve the mystery 🙂 thanks for the comment. I will definitely do a follow-up video once we recieve feedback from bmw UK. Thanks again

Send an email to BMW UK with the vin number, surely they would be willing to tell you what the original colour from the factory was. Would be awesome to paint it the factory colour

Have you tried 'Car Vertical'? They seem to have an extensive inventory of car history information.
Chip, those 9j rears, what tire profile is on there to clear the arch?? I have the same style 40 wheels on my e46 touring with 225 45 17s on. But it still scrapes the tire wall when loaded down in the rear. I would love to send u a Pic of my touring. Super proud of the work I done to it. Fully converted 325i to 330i. Drive train, brakes, suspension lockset. Everything

Personally on the color change. It's a different E30 so do not go for the typical original color. I think the Mustard Gloss that came with the M3's would look crazy

I have 1992 Mtec 2 Mauritius blue with grey 4 headrest interior Manuel in the UK,
I can't see you one being a original Motorsport .Here in the UK they made the Motorsport with the mtec from 1990 and 1991 the ones you showed are all Motorsports they came with beading leater not full leater.
Your one must of been a crome bumper version then fitted a mtec kit on .
I the same one with a mtec 2 white with blue leater .

It's not a Motorsport Convertible.
And that's not bubble leather.
If you want to know what bubble leather looks like, Google 'BMW nappa tex' it's lots of woven leather strips that look like little bubbles. Not all Motorsport Editions had bubble leather but those that didn't either had natural grey or lotus white and all Motorsport Editions have full leather door cars with diagonal stitching and full leather centre console.
