Gator's, wind? Sounds like Florida. I have lived here over 50yrs and this is one of the windiest springs I can remember.
Good stuff Rich and Aimee. The wind may have been rough but it did cooperate upon retrieval. I hope to see what is causing the "glitch". Thankfully it didn't take a bath. AirHammer out!!

Hey Jeff! I figured that even with the wind, I'd give everyone a short demo of it. If nothing else, it handles the wind nicely:) More videos to come on this model!

I'm still trying to choose between this plane and the 1.5m Tower Hobbies DHC2 Beaver. Just a thought, Test spray the plane down with Turtle wax hybrid wax. It should prevent some water intrusion through the pontoons/servo and the prop/motor.

Nice water 🌊 shakedown with that Maule 1500mm Rich, she looks Good on floats, that first landing was well timed, the emergency dead stick landing was Cool, what was the problem with the power?
Probably a short in the motor or ESC issue. I'll get it fixed & do some more flights:)
Esc's do not like water.....I' ve seen a couple of drops of water take out a speed controller....
Also, if you are going to switch between floats and wheels, and floats move the cg back, mount the balance weights on the tips of the floats......
That way, you can switch back and forth without changing the cg. I agree, those floats appear too short for that model....
My ESC was dry. Good ideas. Going to replace the ESC & motor & see what happens.
Did you determine what your electrical glitch was? Mine did the same thing after about a dozen flights. I was loving the plane, but hate having to trouble shoot and start replacing power system parts on a relatively new plane.
I think mine was the motor. I did a bit of a torture test flight after this with a new ESC & motor.... it held up fine.... I'll post it soon:)

Grreat video, Rich! Love my e-flite Maule. Get the CG righht and it flys like a dream. Super stable and lands beautifully. And great job Aimee! I teach high school and wish more kids had her positive and cheerful attitude. Aimee, you rock!
Hey Rich I received one for testing and reviewing as well and noticed that it is pulling over 50 peak amps on 3s and a continuous draw of 46-48amps at 100% throttle. I am not sure what the peak amp rating on the 40amp ESC is but really seems like the newer motors are not as efficient. Same problem with the T28 1400 that states up to 5s-6s capable when in reality it will not handle much over 4s or it will start cutting out like yours is doing due to overdrawing. I'm letting Maeve and Ethan know about this issue and I'd suggest you amp test yours, but with those numbers on 3s you will certainly not be able to punch it on 4s
I'm pretty sure mine is a faulty motor. I never even tried mine on 4s, only 3

@naveda08 Here's the thing.... after my motor quit in my video, it is now permanently fried. It clicks & cavities. I just put in a new stock power system to try out & wat meter it:)

Rich, I bought the FMS PA18 Super Cub with the express purpose of putting it on floats. I am an instructor in our club so I have the dubious pleasure of maidening a lot of foam planes and I don't like them. This FMS seems to be acceptable except that the servo in the water rudder gets wet and quits! There are 2 holes in the top of the float! These floats are common to FMS and Eflite. They are not designed to be repaired and they are not water tight!
Perhaps you would be so kind as to address this for me? Opinion? Solution?

Good water performance! ESC went out id say.I encountered that and numerous others on the Eflite version. 3S no issue but happens sometimes on 4s...

My guess is the Vector V2 reverse through is kicking in by the sounds of it. Might have something to do with what channel your flaps are on?. Does it have reverse throttle. I have the EFlight red n white one. Upgraded ESC to a Spektrum 60 amp smart ESC with a AE631 . And full metal gear servo and pinned hinges now too. Awesome Plane . I flew off snow with those floats , definitely needed some nose weight. Cool video. Get her figured out and fill us in on what ya found.
What CG did you use?
@RCINFORMER I m slightly nose 👃 down at 69mm from leading edge. More weight would certainly help since I usually run SMC Racing LIHV 4s 75C 3600mAh High Voltage ⚡️ packs with my upgraded Avian 60 Amp ESC. Call outs on pack Voltage is awesome. ! Definitely let's me get spot on to landing at 3.79 per cell . Resting at 3.80 after a bit. Plenty of extra Voltage for go around s if needed.
Need to carve out that cowl for better cooling.....just saying😮
Is this the same plane as the Eflite Maule, just painted blue?
Yep! Except it's NOT BNF. It comes with the FMS REFLEX stabilizer. You just add your own receiver:)
Brian Phillips review of this showed that it had reverse thrust ESC motor control option that Eflite model didnt have@@RCINFORMER
