It is every lithium-ion cell manufacturers' goal to reduce the cell forming time. Many things have been tried and some implemented like additives to electrolyte. The number one fear on such a gold rush to reduce the factory overhead cost is overlooking negative quality factors that may result. The one overriding thing about Tesla is they have to eat their own dog food. If they screw up cell longevity trying to reduce costs it could easily kill the company. Relying on an external battery supplier is not as safe a bet.
At 5:39 I'm saying that Tesla is moving to parallel charging, it should be corrected as serial charging.
Here because The Limiting Factor recommendation & so worth the journey. Thank you!
