I worked as a bagcarrier caddy 40-42 years ago at a local country club. My "training" was quite poor. I would love to have seen a video like this back then. After all those years, it was and still is the best job I ever had.
@Jex Harrison It was almost surreal for me. One day I'd be caddying for two retired doctors who couldn't break 100 on their best day. Another day I'd caddy for the assistant club pro who fired off 5 birdies in a row on the way to shooting 65. Some club members were quiet almost to the point of being aloof and wouldn't say one word to you during the entire round. Other members were as gregarious as Lee Trevino and wanted to know all about me and my interest in golf. I should have pursued this as a career as I just love being on a golf course, especially a tough one. I also had the chance to caddy for some super female golfers at the club. They generally were relaxed and enjoyed the game more, but then again, this was the late 70s and early 80s. Tiger was just an unknown toddler back then. ☺
@Jex Harrison Agreed. Etiquette was super big at the country club I worked at. And there are just certain things you must do, and must never do. In two years of caddying I had a total of 3 people ask me what I thought about a situation: the club president, our club pro, and the assistant pro. No member ever asked what I thought about a certain shot, or a break to the green, or how far away from the pin they were.
@@theyluvleah223 depends on the golf course. Some places want experienced caddies, but many do not. And its much easier to learn the basics of caddying and golf now with RUclips, etc. when I caddied I had to learn on the job and sometimes I made some mistakes and some of the golfers were nasty (but that was a long time ago). If someone acts nasty now, I would record them on my phone, that would end that behavior for most people.

@13:29- 13:50... *NO, for the sake of pace of play and other reasons, the **_player_** has divet replacement responsibility , this isn't T V. However there would be a hybrid type exception in the event of a single looper situation where a lot of times the caddie typically just grabs divet and tosses back to player for replacement as it is the caddies responsibility to **_always_** stay ahead of the player/group.* *EDIT: Bold*
Someone should teach Peter how to rake a bunker, what’s with all the rake marks?? Also what’s up with the Black dudes golf bag- Nike cart bag that looks like it weighs 50 lbs??? I don’t know about anyone else, but it’s unnecessary for an amateur golfer at a private course where there is double bagging goin on. It shows me he’s inconsiderate towards the Caddie and I have a hard time giving him 5 star service. Looks like he’ll be just missing the hole all day!!!! “All contingent on your speed sir” classic Caddie bailout!! Great read Peter 3 balls left to right????
Ok answer me this, it states to stay ahead of your golfer when walking to the ball. If you are busy replacing divots and cleaning clubs, how can you expect to stay in front? The video showed the golfers going ahead when the caddies were replacing divots and cleaning clubs.
It's inaccurate. You rarely see caddies ahead of golfers (except forecaddies). That said, it takes a ton of hustle just to avoid slowing down a golfer.
Walking to the fairway you stay ahead, walking to the green is not as important but id imagine you wanna stay ahead as much as possible. Plus you give them their putter before they walk to the green anyways so it's not like they're waiting on you if you have to divot repair or whatever
Helpful video for caddies, but those golf swings are disgusting! Also, you should ALWAYS rake out, making sure to push the sand forward as you rake. it prevents there from being those rake marks and piles of sand
Hey I’m going out caddying for my first time tomorrow and was wondering if you clean the driver and the putter as well? I know it may be dumb but if you can respond it will be very much appreciated
If you want to become a caddie. Make sure you have the patience to put up with the golfers temper tantrums, their constant moaning and most of all their arrogance. The money is good, and it's hard to beat walking around a golf course in the sunshine. But unfortunately you will have to caddie for some of the most despicable cretins on this planet.
The rake in the bunker has two sides. The pronged side is there to move sand. Once the sand is even, flip it to the smooth side and finish pristinely. Leaving rake marks is hot garbage.
Old man was a mediocre caddie. Learn your course immediately by walking the entire course and making notes in a yardage book. Have a basic knowledge on how far the average person hits the ball with each club so you can have some input for the player if he asks. Know the backspin of each club as well and what all shot types are (flop punch normal) and such. It helps a lot and gives them more information to process before taking the shot.

I caddied one summer when I was a kid and spent all my earnings on clubhouse cheeseburgers.

Good courses have walking bags and will switch your clubs to them for the caddie's sake.
Outcome of your well invested effort is incredible, more to see from your inspiring content. Blissful moment and always be safe and healthy 🍀🍀🌱💞
