    I think the context of Jerry saying part of the improvement is going to come from the existing roster means people look Cal, Julio and JP simply need to be better and make more contact and hit for better average. They’re obviously going to need to make a meaningful addition via the trade deadline but there’s only so much you can do, you can’t turn over an entire roster. If our existing roster simply was middle of the pack in all offensive categories, it’d be a major upgrade in and of itself. However, that CAN’T be the only thing that happens and we definitely need 2 or more impact bats added to this roster to lengthen the lineup because simply it’s been atrocious and I think bottom 5 in every category.

  • @stevedayton5419

    Jerry is already making excuses. There are deals and players that can help this team that wont cost you a ton. They can easily make 2 or 3 trades and keep the farm in a good spot still. I think they will make moves but im not confident that they will do enough.

    The issue is that there is no COLLECTION of players, let alone a single player, who is gonna turn this team into a World Series contender. You'd need to replace two-thirds of the lineup JUST TO GET CLOSE!! Is it worth trading away multiple potential all stars, all at positions of need INCLUDING your only catcher once Cal inevitably gets traded since Stanton will never pay him? I don't think so. Jerry and Stanton sealed this team's fate when they refused to engage in free agency. NO TEAM IN THE MODERN MLB WILL WIN A WORLD SERIES WITHOUT ENGAGING SIGNIFICANTLY IN FREE AGENCY!! This team is going nowhere, and trading the farm will not only not fix anything, it'll make the inevitable rebuild of 2026-27 that much harder. The Window is slammed shut, and unless Stanton uses his wallet to open it back up, all attempts at a World Series are futile.

    and you nailed it......they have had 4 off seasons in a row of garbage signings. They refuse to add 'real' players. They are always adding just decent players and 'hope' they have career years. Jerry is lousy at this part of his job. He has NO idea how to build an offensive team. Clueless....completely.

    Not sure that his job hangs in the balance. They are competitive, and making lots and lots and lots of money. I don't care for his doublespeak and shilling for ownership (who rarely gets in front of the mic) and although I think those a-hole owners could eventually bus him, he is doing great for what they care about.

    How do you know?? You're not the owner or in the MGT group. We like Jerry it's the ownership being cheap this year's deadline has very few bats available. I believe the vets on this team will have as good a second half as they had a bad first half. The M's aren't going to blow up the farm for Robert JR. They will trade for Rooker and Peredes and still have a top-ten farm jmo

    "Past performance is no indication of future success." Uh, my dude... have you ever heard the statement that the best predictor of future behavior is past behavior? This is usually said in the context of psychology but of course the same concept applies in sports. Past performance is no *guarantee* of future success, but nothing is. If we take your assertion to its logical conclusion, we should pay zero attention to anyone's baseball card and just pick names out of a hat to assemble the team. Why trade for anybody at all if no one's past performance is any indication of future success?
    Secondly, he's not *assuming* that this is going to stop -- he's (rightfully) calling out his team and telling them they need to do better. "How can you look at all those guys, Jerry, and say 'they've gotta be better,' or 'they're gonna be better'?" Those are two clearly distinct statements and he didn't say the second one, he said the first. My god, how can we look at all those guys and say anything *other than* they've gotta be better? Should he have said "this is the best they can do, so let's not hold them to any higher standard than their awful first half"?
    If Robert and Rooker are dealt to somebody else and we don't make any notable moves, I'm going to be as pissed as anybody, but in the meantime let's remember that two things can be true at once: they need to improve the team significantly via trade AND the guys on the current roster need to do a lot better.

    The true definition of insanity is to continue to do the same thing OVER & OVER & OVER again & expecting a different result- this is Dipoto, Hollander, & Servais personified! That being said, we clearly need new ownership, a new manager, a new president of baseball ops & a fricking new hitting coach who all have an actual desire to win- you've gotta want it to win it. This team is cooked & I'm so tired of pitying these players who have to deal with the front office & ownership, just disgusting...

      (This is Rob) I’ve been here since 1991, man.
      You’re happy with one playoff appearance in his term? You’re happy with having a team that can barely score 2 runs a game? With a team wasting a generational starting staff?

    • @BenHoltenFilms
      @BenHoltenFilms 2 месяца назад

      @@GoldStandardNetwork It takes years to build a club unless you have huge money like the Yankees or Dodgers. And even then big money doesn't guarantee things. You look at the moves, and draft picks and middle of the road budget Jerry has had and he has been a mastermind. The mariners currently have a relatively young team. At minimam the key players are under club control until 2028. And you could argue the mariners have the best farm system currently in Baseball in terms of prospects. Jerry has taken a team that was horrible for years and had no hope to a realistic contender for years.
