I'm a retired clarinetist for the US Army bands of 25 years. Today, I personally enjoy playing swing/jazz on clarinet and playing country/rock/gospel sax but I was 'raised' on classical clarinet (Bach is a B*** to play in a quartet or ww quintet). Having experienced classical music, I know and greatly appreciate what you do and understand the work you had to put in to achieve this level! Years ago as a young Lowrey organ dealer, I was introduced to pipe organ music played by E. Power Biggs. Re-introduced to it from the "Joy of Music" series by the "First Lady of the Organ", Diane Bish. Wow, I'd never heard a pipe organ handled like she did ie, from powerful roaring pipes (Widor's Toccata) to barely a whisper ( Mendolssohn's Nocturne), I enjoy listening to Ms. Bish's old Joy of Music programs on RUclips. SO, while scrolling on RUclips looking for more, I stumbled (as you said here) upon You! I now listen to every video by you or Ms. Bish wherever I can find them. I LOVE this music! The music you've played on this particular recital featured here absolutely blew me away!! I listened as you made a mighty pipe organ angrily bark and roar, then suddenly whisper, seemingly popping "butterflies" out of the pipes above you from ranks up in a back room somewhere with the rest of the pipes--within the same piece! Unbelievable! Your original compositions played here are fantastic. Sitting here alone in front of my computer listening to your recital here, I just wanted to jump to my feet and applaud you, but, well, instead I just slumped back, saying "wow, just wow!". I would love to see more families come back to God and back to church where they and their children especially can experience and be inspired this magnificent instrument--but, like you say, social media will catch young students faster unfortunately, but surely. May God continue to bless you on your musical journey and keep on inspiring young people and playing for us all!!
Anna’s exceptional playing is impressive enough on its own; her positivity and incredible outreach efforts elevate her to Hero status. Long may you both play on!
What a gift to the world this woman is. I so appreciate all the year and years of dedication and practice it takes to perform at this level. Amazing. Brilliant. ❤❤
I love Anna's playing. She is a world-class organist. Her mastery of this magnificent organ is overwhelming, God bless and keep Anna safe, well, and happy.
You two are so much fun and your music is spectacular, especially extending beyond just the traditional classical, which I do have a lot of respect for and enjoy. To me it is just a natural expansion of what has come before. And so I say to Anna, from the words of a song of a group that I have long listened to, "Let us put men and women together See which one is smarter Some say men, but I say no Women run the men like a puppet show" And to Richard, thank you for not only sharing your musical gifts but having the respect for, and recognizing those of others! And so I say thank you, and well done both of you!
I am now 62, and in the intervening years I have heard the Franck no 3 played hundreds of times, both in recital and on record. The registrations and Anna's playing bought tears to a pair of old eyes, and thats a first. Well played Anna Lapwood

Practically, owing to have been growing up, with a brilliant brother, who happened to become quite an organist all over the place!YOU have made my day, Anna.Thankyou for your wonderful musical skills.

It’s amazing to see a young lady who is so accomplished on the organ. It is good to see a woman in what has been mostly a men’s territory over the years. Simply wonderful.
This is a magnificent example of what that funny rear part of the brain does so well, the cerebellum. Placing her feet on the correct pedal key, let alone pushing the preset stop button!, is all cerebellar - Anna doesn't have to think where her feet (or hands) are, her cerebellum and all the position feedback systems we have in our bodies, tells her exactly - the cortex just has to give the command. This takes time and lots of learning to achieve - no different to skiing, gymnastics, guitar playing , riding a bike or other activities we do. But we forget this wonderful part of our brain. Anyway she's a wonderful exemplar.
I'm not sure I want to admit how often I play the music part of this recital. Anna plays with wonderful passion from the heart and it will grab yours. She, the music, and organ, are all magnificent, as is the recording quality. Thank you for the listening joy, uh bliss. Please record and offer more..
Very stylish and fabulous recital ! Anna Lapwood is a talented organist recently seen at the Royal Albert Hall with a pop group. The fact they have just made her one of the custodians to the Organ there testifies to her popularity.
I am not a big fan of organ music, but I thought I'd listen for just a short bit to hear the instrument and see what you might do with it. I was so blown away by this performance that I had to listen to the entire recital. I very rarely do that, especially when I'm listening from my phone because the sound is so poor. But in this case, I couldn't help myself. I was memorized by every note.
Absolutely amazing. I have played the organ since I was 11, 60 yrs ago and loved every moment. Anna I have never see a performance where performer organ and music were so entwined in each other. You enjoy it so much! Keep going for what you believe in! God bless you. Thankyou Richard for putting on this performance and for all you give!
I am a new follower of yours, Anna. I am a 65 y/o church organist of some 50 years in the US. I have wondered for years how best to encourage new/young musicians wanting to learn the organ. Thank you for making it relevant & interesting & a great way to showcase the organ & what it is capable of in many settings.
Richard, you need to invite Anna back for another recital! So talented and funny! I always enjoy BIS and watch as much as I can. Thank you very much for putting this program on. -John. Grand Rapids Michigan USA.
Truly the very best video presentation of an organist's performance! The picture in picture is very inventive and much appreciated! However the most amazing content of this video is the beautiful and most talented organist.
“Please leave a positive comment” Are you kidding? That was amazing! Anna is such an expressive player, which isn’t easy on the organ, of course. Hard to believe the organs played weren’t ‘real’. What a setup you have there. Hauptwerk setup of my dreams. Thank you for your service, Richard.
Brava! I completely enjoyed this recital. The delightful manner in which Anna Lapwood chatted with Mr. Veigh after the recital was even more of a good thing. She is an exceptional person!
Anna Lapwood's organ recital was breathtaking, and the interview provided such insightful context into her approach and connection to the music. Truly a treat for both the ears and the mind!

27 years-old! Just the drive and dedication she has is incredible to watch, let alone the exceptional talent. Outwith the little sleep she seems to get, I can't imagine her having 5 minutes 'off' anytime.
Anna Lapwood is a "ROCK" Star I live in the states and do not play the instrument. But what she does with it is simply amazing. Her breakthrough performance last year at the BBC Proms has opened the door to get more girls and young women interested in the organ. And she is an absolute wonder as a conductor as well. I hope I can see her in person And her last minute addition to the Bonobas Concert at RAH was brilliant.
WHAT a wonderful concert and I'm not gonna lie: It actually makes a huge deal to get that interview with the performer after the concert because there are so much thoughts, insights and comments which provides a even deeper understanding of the musical choices being made as to the recital. Richard! You do an excellent work of bringing organ music out to the world! Thank you!

Two passionate and gifted people talking together, that gives confidence again in humankind. I just discovered Anna Lapwood and she radiates the joy of playing, such an inspiring person. The Britten is absolutely great, unbelievable taste for transcription. Gregoriana pieces were just stunning. Thanks both of you for sharing your talent.
I had to listen to this again! Both Anna and the BIS organ are well matched brilliance and better than on some other organs! I’d love to hear her on the BIS instrument again!👍🎶
She is very talented and accomplished! It sometimes makes me want to cry when I see the talent and dexterity possessed by the organists featured on this channel. I’ve play/played organ/piano, but have never attained anywhere near the level of you, Richard, our tour guests. Thank you for the artistry you all display!
Dear Anna, it was so good of you to play with Richard McVeigh at "Beauty in Sound". We are honestly honored. I hope that you survived peeking out from the cushions with the cats. Thank you so much for this sincerely excellent and educational inspiring recital. I guess everyone says that.
This video has combined the UK's two greatest advocates (IMHO) of organs and organ music. What a treat. Fantastic playing by Anna and excellent production from Richard. Many thanks to you both.
Thank you, Anna, for your very interesting and lovely interpretation of the Frank. I also played it on my senior recital back in 1958. Haven't played to whole thing at one time since but occasionally play parts of it for voluntaries in various places throughout my very long career. I'll be 85 in another couple of days and blessedly still active as organist in my home church. Cutting back to only one service per Sunday. I really enjoy listening to all the wonderful organists on RUclips. Thanks again.
A wonderful recital, it is always good to hear music you haven't heard before. Anna is a wonderful organist, an amazing talent and I hope will be a role model in particular for young people to get involved in the organ and church music. She is certainly inspiring.
What an amazing feeling of tactus and the perfect tempo for that A minor prelude & fugue of Bach, yet enough freedom and musicality throughout the performance that exposes the expressiveness and sheer talent. The fugue is quite hard in that the theme, which is quite excentric and virtuoso, remains unchanged in the pedal. Finally, such an organic posture whilst doing all of the handling manually without assistance (playing, turning pages, registration) is nothing short of amazing. Congratulations, and thanks for this wonderful recital 😇
What a brilliant performance by Anna Lapwood on the organ, magnificently played. You have tremendous talent I applauded you after every piece you've played. Richard thank you for allowing Anna to give such a Great performance. Well Done
What a delightful recital AND post-recital interview!!! Anna’s recital was bookended by two of my favorite works (mainly because they are two of up and coming grandson Andy’s best performed works-although I will say that Andy has much to learn from Anna!!).
Excellent recital - thank you! I liked all the pieces, too, which is not always the case. What an attractive, talented and confident young lady. I think I am in love - and at least forty years too old!
Lovely recital! In response to Anna's interview: I became exposed to & intrigued with pipe organs and pipe organ music initially through seeing a children's book fantastic illustration of Dr Seuss's interpretation of a steam organ, with an array of manuals, stops, pedals, & pipes, being played, and with the organ mounted astride some marching imaginary beast, in Dr Seuss's "If I Ran The Circus" book. Around the same time, my father gave me a vinyl phonograph album, "Bach Organ Favorites", played by E Power Biggs. Together, that book illustration & vinyl album, inspired me to follow pipe organs and pipe organ music!
Wonderful recital . It brought back memories of learning both the Bach A minor and the Franck when I was an organ student at the RNCM in the 1970s (one of only 3 girls out of 15 organ students. Alas, the Hradetzky organ sits silent most of the time now as they no longer offer organ as a principal study). Both Richard and Anna are wonderful ambassadors for organ music. Thank you !
I have just been fortunate in coming across Anna Lapwood's wonderful recital given 28th May 2022 in conjunction with Beauty in Sound. Her playing is inspirational and I particularly like her arrangement of Britten's Sea Interludes. The registration and playing bring a wonderful atmospheric feeling to Britten's brilliant composition. The other pieces were superb too and I'm a real fan of JSB and Franck. What a lovely programme of music. I'm a very very amateur organist but you have spurred me on to get playing again - thank you. happy New Year for 2023.
WOW! That was phenomenal. Absolutely brilliant Anna. Thank you for your music, and thank you Richard for inviting Anna to play the BiS organ. I have enjoyed every moment of this recital.
Loved the recital. I was particularly taken with the Britten pieces, but the whole selection was excellently played and very enjoyable. Loved the funny bloopers at the end, too.
Richard, I am missing the date of each video these days. Thank you for introducing Anna Lapwood to those of us far and near. What a delightful program, in food terms each morsel was most "delicious!" How wonderful to call Anna a friend. Anna we are grateful for your participation with Richard's RUclips channel!! This is a great understatement. Bless you all.
One of the most inspiring auditions in the last months that I’ve heard. Wonderful to the bone. And Anna as a human being so natural und fresh despite all she has already gained in her life.. this is the future of organ playing.. thanks Richard, for having her :)
Marvelous program. Absolutely loved hearing the new works from Gregoriana especially. Wonderfully fresh, beautiful, and useful pieces. Anna is an inspiration!
This was SUCH a treat! I've been looking forward to this ever since it was on the schedule, and it exceeded my already high expectations. Anna, you are such a positive role model for musicians, young people, and women too! Thank you for joining us at BiS and for sharing your talent and joy. Delightful and entertaining. 😊
Thank you so much for such a beautiful recital. The Bach was a really thrilling performance. I hope Anna will find more pieces to transcribe in the future, she obviously has a great talent for it.
I'm a few days late and everyone has said it all. Loved the Bach (yep, another Bach nut) and really enjoyed the Britten even though I'd not heard them before. Being an old fuddy-duddy I wasn't sure if I was going to enjoy the new works but did - especially the beautiful 'In Paradisum'. Oh yeh, muted horns worked so well (and Bach's twiddly bits😁). Thank you Anna for a brilliant recital, and a big thanks BIS for putting these recitals together. I'll try to be on time for the next one!
Merveilleuse interprétation par une magnifique artiste. Cette oeuvre de JS Bach est rarement lisible dans l'interprétation qui en est donnée. Celle-ci est sublime. Merci beaucoup.
having grown up with he likes of Thalben Ball ,E power Biggs, Virgil Fox and Carlo Curley and Simon Preston it is absolutely wonderful to see the next generation being given the exposure through your efforts Richard.. Bravo
Anna has the unique ability to draw me into her playing, she is a wonderful ambassador for the organ. I hope we hear her in person in New Zealand at some stage. We have a wonderful array of organs in Dunedin.

I’m very saddened to hear they no longer offer principal study organ at the RNCM. I was there from 78-82 - happy days!
An organ sitting silent most of the time is very sad to hear.
Beautiful way to finish my Sunday evening. Watching you is a real treat.
Beautiful colours, superb registrations. Lovely Anna. Thank You 😊
What a great personality she has.
Impressive recital! How talented she is!
Marvelous program. Absolutely loved hearing the new works from Gregoriana especially. Wonderfully fresh, beautiful, and useful pieces. Anna is an inspiration!
Great performer! Great recital! I'd love to hear more of her performances.
Bravo from America!
The best rendition of BWV 543 I've ever heard. I kid thee not.
Your amazing talent, passion & hard work shows and is very appreciated. Thank you Miss Anna
Merveilleuse interprétation par une magnifique artiste. Cette oeuvre de JS Bach est rarement lisible dans l'interprétation qui en est donnée. Celle-ci est sublime. Merci beaucoup.
It was very lovely! Thanks so much, from Florida!
Anna is the greatest artist to come out of the British isles since Alfred Hitchcock.
having grown up with he likes of Thalben Ball ,E power Biggs, Virgil Fox and Carlo Curley and Simon Preston it is absolutely wonderful to see the next generation being given the exposure through your efforts Richard.. Bravo
That was fun! I put it on "in the background", but haven't managed to do anything but listen/watch.
I LOVE her registration in the first piece, the Bach Prelude and Fugue in A minor. It's so majestic and glorious!!!
Outstanding - she‘s got herself another follower 😊
Anna has the unique ability to draw me into her playing, she is a wonderful ambassador for the organ. I hope we hear her in person in New Zealand at some stage. We have a wonderful array of organs in Dunedin.
Thanks!
Craig - thank you SO much, this is massively kind of you and is really appreciated :)
Beautiful musicianship and fabulous pedal work. They dance
Absolutely phenominal! Brava, Anna!
