@@armoredcorelore I'm hoping that since it's stated that they're expanding on melee, we'll have some of gen 5's handheld blades in addition to the classic forearm mounted blades.
FromSoft's iconic blade from the very beginning. My personal bit of headcanon for AC2's Moonlight given its design language being a fair bit different to the corporation design languages is that the blade is Martian in origin and like the player, Belena found the blade while excavating Martian ruins, reverse engineered it, and peddled copies as their own product.
Ah the Legendary *MOONLIGHT.* From Software's most iconic blade. The weapon may vary from game to game, many would use this without fail due to it's raw power that can down many foes in quick succession. Nothing better than finding this Legendary weapon via a hidden location or trying to unlock it with tough conditions that many will easily accept the challenge!!! The legacy of this weapon will inevitably continue with Armored Core 6 on the horizon. The *MOON* awaits. Great video!!!!
I always thought it was cool when part names actually could be broken down into full acronyms, seems they stopped doing this as consistently once we get to Nexus, but up to AC3 you can see these designations being pretty consistent. A good example would be the iconic "gun in chest" core from AC2. It's called the ECM-XR00, which stands for Emeraude (Manufacturer) Core (Part Category) Medium (Part Weight Class) - XR00 (Model Name) For the moonlight for example: AC1-MR LS-99-MOONLIGHT -> Laser Sword - 99 - Moonlight AC2-AA LS-MOONLIGHT -> Laser Sword Moonlight AC3-SL MLB-MOONLIGHT -> Mirage Laser Blade - Moonlight Seems they brought this back in V and VD, tho I haven't played them myself.
I loved the simple nomenclature they had up to Silent Line, it made it so easy to understand what a part was at a glance. Even if the later versions gave the parts a more defined link to their corporations, it just made things more confusing - good luck trying to recognize a particular Crest part from Nexus/Last Raven at a glance. About the V gen, in those games corporations are absolutely gone (thankfully they're returning in ACVI), and nomenclature seems to be a bit all over the place, with only mini-series of equipment like the Moonlights or Karasawas having similar names and serial numbers, but that's about it.
With KRSW and MOONLIGHT expected to show up as usual, I'm mildly hopeful that we'll get to see other legacy weapons in 6. It'd be nice to see a new FINGER after all this time.

The Moonlight blade has returned in Armored Core 6 in style, with a major focus on the wave attack that could only be performed by Human Plus and OP Intensify users from back then. The wave has a good width and long distance, and you can send out a second wave if you attack twice. However, the way melee works now with cooldowns means said waves will be more interspersed in the rest of your arsenal. Additionally, charging the melee attack sends out a long straight wave that can catch multiple foes at once. The IA-C01W2 Moonlight has a base attack power of 615, which is much less than you would anticipate of the legendary blade, and the impact and accumulative impact both of 495. However, the double attack you can perform will increase the total damage to 1230, which is more like it. The charge attack deals 2010 damage, which is more like it, but it takes a bit longer to execute, with 910 impact to its name. Much like Armored Core 5 and Verdict day, this legend would see an upgrade via Coral injection, dubbed the ML-Redshift. It has greater attack power and stun than the standard Moonlight, but as a tradeoff, the charge attack takes a hit to those same stats. The IA-C01W7 ML-Redshift's base attack power by comparison is a good clip higher than the Moonlight at 727, with an upgraded impact of 530, with the double swing netting you 1454 damage. As noted, however, the charge attack takes a dive, suffering a power drop to a mere 1614, and reduced impact to 820, making this blade more suitable for taking on high-ranking enemies (including ACs) instead of the usual MT rabble. Side note: the ML-Redshift also has better direct hit tracking than the Moonlight.

New moonlight is simply a wave blade. There is a hidden blade in the last raven that I THINK* is a moonlight blade or something like it, all I know is I kept using it till the end of the game, this was a big deal because its in the second or third mission of the entire game, hidden all the way up on top of a dam near the mid point of the level. I don't think you mentioned this, the Moonlight can shoot a wave attack out of it if you do a special input. I think it is the most defining characteristic of the blade.

Like the earliest version, without the melee, it is simply a ranged attack with two consecutive back to back wave attacks at range, or a charge attack that makes a really big wave with longer range. Fun fact: The AC6 version of the Moonlight can attack through walls!
By any chance, can you cover the story of Armored core 5 and Verdict day? I find such interest in the huge difference from gen 4 and gen 5 ACs
I plan too and i am working on it in the background too with translations from the acv and acvd books.
@@armoredcorelore You know I will be waiting to hear this from you especially because I know once you do, I strongly believe you'll change everyone's perspective on the 5th gen! ^-^
The first AC I would use just that blade And grenade launcher as a human plus... With 4000 boost. Most missions nothing would touch me.
Well it is quite a build to run about with. A cool one mind you.
Nice work on the moonlight blade man
Thank you for the kind words as always.
@@armoredcorelore remember armored core is the best from software.
Its so cracked in For Answer I love it
No love for the short yellow blade in AA? That bad boy was awesome….
I was waiting for this!
Hope you enjoy.
Of course it wouldn’t be a Fromsoft game if it didn’t have a moonlight blade in it
Got to keep that tradition.
AC6 Moonlight Blade Main here.
Cut them all down.
@@armoredcorelore Proceeding, sir.
5:40 you made a oopsie with the late 3rd gen moonlight. 2048 isn't the attack power its the discharge heat. 1772 is the attack power.
On a side not elf 3 is amazing. Lightest fastest high attack power blade best heat attack of the blades and a disproportionately powerful blade wave that when fired on the ground out damages all other blades damage with the exception of Very specialized poke builds.
Its happens, ac i find is always a learning process with its parts and numbers.
As a long-time player of Armored Core, the best versions of the Moonlight are the original, when enhanced by Human Plus, wrecks anything, whether you are close to it or not.
Armored Core 2 and 2 Another Age for its design.
Armored Core For Answer
if its a from soft game you gonna find that moonlight blade
Why are we getting so much new armored core content all of a sudden?
i believe its the hype for the new game, the recent interview and that the game is now showing up on the xbox store.
In AC: VD there was combo of two sword strikes at once? Like this "X" - shaped moove.
You are correct in V and VD you can strike with both blades at once making an x shape.
@@armoredcorelore Thats cool. I am playing V now but I didn't tried duo laser swords
this is gonna need updating....
I will.
@@armoredcorelore same will go for the.... kagawara? is that right?
@@jamesiewalters2360 Yep just working on an ac6 video right now.
@@armoredcorelore roger dodger.
probably in 6, we will hv MOONLIGHT series of melee weapon, not just Laser Blade...
Who knows? Its always been a blade, but maybe we'll get a collection.
Me when I hear moonlight blade: me:
Yess!!!!!!!
Ha ha!
At long last!
It has arrived!
There is a hidden blade in the last raven that I THINK* is a moonlight blade or something like it, all I know is I kept using it till the end of the game, this was a big deal because its in the second or third mission of the entire game, hidden all the way up on top of a dam near the mid point of the level. Correct me if im wrong armoredcorelore! :D
Had to get out the walkthrough for this question but this would not be the rasetsu parry blade you talking about would it? It is found in the third level of last raven or are we talking about the YWL16LB-ELF3, the crwlo6lba or the YWLO3LB TAROS as all these are hidden blades within LR. And there is a moonlight in last raven, but its given as a reward for completing Destroy AC Vigilance and its the WL Moonlight
@@armoredcorelore Its been so long I cant remember the name! If its ontop of a dam/rock formation in the third level than thats it!
@@Pathfinder118 That is completely fair. I believe its the rasettu parry blade then.
The blade I used cause it's light and has the power next to moonlight, is that the blade you use?
Frighteners on Mars! No!
Looks like our work here is done.
Im detecting a unit of unknown origin a raven ...
You should update this for AC6, the blade is acquirable but only in ch4.
Yes it is. I am just playing through the game now and found it after losing to the boss for the fifth time ha ha.
@@armoredcoreloreNot only is there the moonlight, but there's also an alternate version of it - ML-Redshift. If I recall correctly, it's obtained via a rather spoilery arena battle available mid chapter 4 of NG++
@@milesnevills5534 you still need to adapt to its movement in attack pattern, because modern from software bosses have different attack pattern and movement in the player had to adapt to the situation. This applies to Armored Core 6
@@kevingame3198 I believe you may have directed that reply to the wrong person
@@milesnevills5534 sorry about that
I wonder if in AC6, it keeps the moonlight title or if it changes to Darkmoon to reflect its change in elden ring
Its possible and maybe some new lore behind it would be cool too.
I think Darkmoon was a change specific to ER, but I could be wrong. Just because Ranni uses dark moon spells and it's the weapon she gives you, so it makes sense to reflavour it slightly.
this video should be updated to has the version in AC6
I'll have to find out the out script.
Finally~
Kept you waiting huh.

Cool.
Wild... cat.
Love this weapon! I don't remember it's name but there's an Energy blade in the 3rd Gen games that shoots out spinning energy. Any lore on that one?
The MLB-LS/003, not really to be honest. I've had a look in my copy of armored core last raven perfect manual and Silent line one to check and the only real lore is the a name change to WL01LB-ELF and that it suffered like many parts a major rise in Discarded heat.
@@armoredcorelore damn, I see. Thanks though, still good information to know. 👍
There have been dedicated wave blades since at least master of arena. The main advantage being they can throw beams in the air
Look like this video need an update!!!
Already in the works.
@@armoredcorelore I have some weird idea. How about a video about the starter AC of each games? Dive into the lore and possible reasons of why the starter of each games come with those parts!
@@deviancepurplehaze6045 I'll think on it before i add it to my ever growing to do list =)
Would it not be something if in 6 its blood red?
I mean sure, but how about green?
Gen4 Moonlight is best designed Moonlight.
Ah, but Moonlight is *not* Armored Core history.
Sure its first appearance was in the kings field series. But the moonlight blade is seen in a lot of fromsoftwares games and each one has developed its own history within these worlds.
The Moonlight has strongers ties to Armored Core than it does any of the Souls games.
@@MrPikaGammer King's Field
@@FighterDoken there was a single King's Field, on the other hand there are fifteen Armored Cores.
I don't think you mentioned this, the Moonlight can shoot a wave attack out of it if you do a special input.
I think it is the most defining characteristic of the blade.
From AC1 to ac3 blade waving can be done with any blade as long as the raven is a human plus. But from nexus till last raven any blade could produce a blade wave by using the blade while boosting. It was not something only the moonlight could do.
@@armoredcorelore yes but the gen 1 beam was absurdly strong.
I hated the one in gen 5 so much.
That's fair i think everyone has that one they dislike.
but uhhhhhhhhh
Why does it suck in AC6? I must be using it wrong..
Have not had a chance to try it out yet. But i will.
I love how no one ever talks about how the arms you use with a laser blade effects the way it swings, the damage given, and the energy use….
It's neat, but not really linked into the history of the Moonlight blade.
And also the legs and sometimes even the core
"the muuun-light blade"
I love the videos man, but WTF is this guy's accent? British?
Thank you and yes i am British.
Armored core 6 has the moonlight blade
It does.
Definitely excited for this one..... oooohhhhh yeah buddy.
So excited he had to comment twice. Thanks for the support ACE. Hope all is getting there your end.
