To old-school Filipinos, Voltes V always got a special place in our heart.
Voltes V is pretty famous and remained famous in a lot of countries, not just PH. Some countries, including PH re-aired the show even during the 2000s which is why it remained significant. It was a classic hit kept alive by re-airs.
Last aired 2018
Not gonna lie even though I am not Japanese and as Filipno we know that we love Japanese animes so much and always sing the Japanese anime themes like this Voltes V so don't be surprised if we can sing a Japanese song haha, and yea Julie Ann San Jose is one of the best singers in the Philippines. 🥰💖
Reminded me of my childhood, my week is incomplete without watching Voltes-V

I want to let you know that Voltes V: This Japanese anime has been a Filipino favorite since the 1970s.I got hooked on it as a teenager, and. I am now 64 years old and still love it!
It's already being aired here, about 60/80 episodes already by GMA Network. :)

The reason behind Filipinos being able to sing in Japanese fluently is due to its colonial past. The Philippines was once a colony of Japan.
That's totally wrong. 3 years of Japanese occupation was not long enough to indoctrinate 17 million Filipinos to the Japanese language. The Philippines was never a Japanese colony. Filipinos staged guerilla warfare for the three years of Japanese occupation. Sole ownership still belongs to the U.S. until independence was granted in 1946. Your premise is flawed and misleading.
What are you literally talking about??? 3 years of colonization is not gonna be enough to do shit to influence a culture's language, much less with how brutal the Japanese were during said occupation which left them with little support from the Filipino populace to say the least about the situation.
That aside, Japanese in general is also a subject that isn't normally taught in school either. To begin with, you don't need to be fluent in a language to be able to sing a particular song from it. It helps a lot, but all you really need is a good ear, the ability to sing, and then it boils down to mimicry.
I've seen plenty of people, in IRL or on the internet, do just that and that's exactly the case with Julie Ann San Jose. She has gone on record to state that she isn't fluent in Japanese, but through her own natural talent and practice she was able to sing the song regardless. That's how good she is.
