This song is so wow. My father passed away many years ago but before that we used to do late night swims. As we floated in the water my dad pointed out three stars and said that they represent our family. Far apart yet always there. 20 Years later I still look at those stars. My father might be gone... But he is still there in a way

Shine, flickering lights, shine to live forever in the memory of those who imagined and loved you, even if we don't actually see you, we feel you.
Shine, little stars.
A father and son were spending time together camping out at night after fishing. And the father began to talk to his 15 year old son about constellations.
Dad looked at the incalculable number of stars in the sky And after some thinking, he asked his son: "Wanna know what's strange to think about?"
"What is it, Dad?"
"All of those stars seem so far away, but if you can see them, there is literally nothing between you and that star, which means if you were to zoom in that direction and never stop, you could eventually land on it."
His son smirked and shook his head. He had heard in school how many lightyears it would take just to reach the nearest one. "Dad... Space is a big place - endless, in fact. Even if we were accurate enough to launch a ship in its direction, it would take several lifetimes to get there. And then what is the point of landing on a faraway planet if you cant get there alive?"
Dad rubbed his beard in deep thought. "Perhaps. Valid point, indeed, but though the person flying to the star may be deceased, you don't have to personally live on to create the possibility of actually reaching them."
The son turned his head side to side. "It's still pointless to attempt if you can't live on it."
Dad nods his head. "To a view of the self, indeed, but let us look to the viewpoint of the people here on Earth."
"What do they have to do with it," asked the boy.
"They will hear the tale of a man who gave his own life to do what they said could never be done. And even though that man may not be among the living, the story would tell that no matter what other people tell you that you can't do, with the right determination, you can do what people can only do in their dreams."
"Dad..." The boy let out a chuckle. "No one can even reach a star."
"We live in a star, son. Even though we consider our galaxy as a galaxy, to other stars, we are another star among their constellations, if we shine bright enough."
"That is IF there is life out there other than here on Earth." The boy looked to his dad.
The dad smiled. "Well we don't know if there is, or not. But we can only have a hope of being a star if we shine our brightest, because you never know what could be gazing upon you."
"But...how do we know if we are?" The boy looked back at the night sky, looking beyond the shining lights at the blackness of space.
"Well..." The dad sat up and looked at his son. "You may never find out, unless you have something out there tell you they look up to you."
The boy realized this wasn't a conversation about physical stars. This made him sit up and look at his dad. "But... I haven't had anyone tell me that."
"That is because your life is only beginning. What great things can you do for others to make them admire you as their star?"
The boy's alarm clock buzzed in his ear as he suddenly woke up, looking on his dresser to the picture of his dad in military uniform. After he wiped a tear off of his cheek, he placed his hand on the folded flag in front of it. "Thank you, Dad... I will do my best."

@@colin4839 It was part of an old writing I used to have planned out a few years back. I wrote this recently for other purposes than this song, but I thought the "little star" could also mean "a star in the making" like the old one can no longer "shine". It goes deeper than the words you see. I'll have to be better about executing such. Thanks for the reminder, nevertheless.
Honestly, this would work for any kind of movie, not just a Christmas one. It would sound really good in a Disney film, though!

That's the truth. And there aren't so many replacement options for Horner that would inspire genuine enthusiasm. If Thomas Bergersen were the composer tapped, I'd start anticipating something beautiful.

I remember listening to this song live in Prague. The vocalists pulled off their reading lights and started waving them... then more and more people in the audience joined in with their phones... magical
I just got a call half an hour ago that my Grandma has passed. We knew the day would come since her health has deteriorated over the past months and had planned to visit her in two weeks, but still this soon... It's a terrible feeling knowing you won't see a person ever again and all that's left are memories. I thank you for this bit of solace on an otherwise bleak day.
