For those of you who are haters of this piece, let me offer a couple of thoughts...The first being this, look at the sheet music...and I mean really look. First, the tempo doesn‘t change through the entire piece. Ever. The first half of the song is as fast as the second half. The difference being the use of half notes and whole notes to make you believe it is slower and more deliberate than the last half. In the last half, the layers of EDM come into play, with a lot more use of eighth notes in the backing track, which when added to percussion give a feel that it is much faster than the first half, when in point, the tempo never changes. This is the brilliance of this piece. Go read it, then comment again...I love it. I‘d conduct an orchestra in two for the first half, then four the second, but that‘s me...Thomas, this is just epic.
Nice analysis but to my ears it still sounds bad after about 6:00. The percussion (and other electronic sounds) makes this a disco melody - this is not what I am looking for in 2SFH. Btw I also dislike Orion album - for similar reason.

Hey. I'm a bit late to this, but I'm just here to say that things get better, and there are people out there who will help you reach that point. Stay strong.
People are entitled to their opinions, but I personally found the transition from epic to EDM quite fluid and masterful, without much abruption. Thomas did an amazing job with this beautiful song and shows that he's well-versed in many different forms and styles of music.
This is literally one of the best pieces of music ever composed. And such a fantastic tribute. Every time I listen to it, I think about Avicii, and about the lesson to be learned from his life. It doesn't matter how successful you become. There's no guarantee for happiness. Keep the people you love close. Don't judge your life's worth by your accomplishments, but by the person you are and the way you treat other people. Life is what you make of it.
I know not many people like the second half, but think of it this way. Two Steps From Hell puts out a new song every Friday, sometimes more. They have covered all the moods, sad, happy, dramatic, they've done it all. In this song, a lot like Impossible, they cover a ton of the genres/moods. There is no way to satisfy everyone, some people really like EDM. So, with that said, cut Two Steps From Hell some slack. Though they do seem like gods, they are human, which only makes them more amazing. So thank you Thomas and Nick! You have truly outdone yourselves.
This, tremendously, really needs more upvotes. I cannot add a single thing in here that you did not already say. Much appreciated and once again, very well said! I will not say it is sad to see, as Thomas puts it, a fanbase a little divided over his work. Yet, I would not call it truly divided: the next song will come from the Dragon's wings, rolling onto the next good Base of the Immortal Generals Thomas & Nick, and, we shall still be as over one million voices! May the Music Make you Braver.
During depressed times, weeping makes people feel a lot better. However, I am a man who cannot weep when I need. This music, no this masterpiece, makes me weep, reopens my wounds in my soul, roots out what disease nested in there and cures me. No thanks are enough to express my gratitude. You are magnificent, Thomas.
Everything I have to say to this: Dear Two Steps From Hell, when I discovered you about 5 years ago, you made my life complete again. You always managed to spent courage, solace, empathy, thoughtfulness, epic feelings and such much more with the rest of the world, a lot of us owe you so much. Thank you and keep up your amazing work!
When I was looking around the comments, I found that some people were talking about EDM parts in the song. Instant fright kidnapped my mind. Then the score kept going, and... Jeez, never before had I seen such skill to mix two different styles and obtaining a result this undoubtedly great My most excellent congratulations to Bergersen... just again
"Music makes your braver." Brave enough to step away from your known identity to pay homage to another, into a blend of styles that carries the spirit of both to a new, unique place. The harmony and contrast in this one is something I never thought I'd hear, but I'm glad I did.
This is probably the best song I have ever listened to. A perfect blend of two of my favorite genres and artists. I feel myself being transported to a different place, a perfect world where good triumphs and everything is glorious. Omggg...
Hehe, considering a fan up there has equaled this transition alike to a lunar eclipse, I find this comment highly appropriate. :D May the Music Make you Braver!
A guy with a mushroom profile picture, living somewhere in the galaxy, LOVES this track. Also, while he understands why some people might not really like EDM elements, he also wishes that more people knew about the fact that Thomas composed this piece as a tribute to Avicii.
So they’re paying respect to Avicii without trying to be him. They used some of his technique but not so much that it was an imitation. That’s respect. And I appreciate it
Hehe, considering a fan up there has equaled this transition alike to a lunar eclipse, I find this comment highly appropriate. :D May the Music Make you Braver!

It honestly saddens me that there is such a divide for this song that the composer has to address it. This is literally one of my favorite songs that he has made. It is so diverse, and it melds a few worlds together so perfectly. I can't help but feel so happy and enlightened whenever I hear this song. I was lucky enough to have heard it live on its was debut... And I will never forget that afternoon.
So captivated by this track. The sequence from 5:16 is my favourite - so incredibly beautiful! Thank you for music that inspires, captivates, and transports us into a story that is so worth telling.
My fiancé and I love this song so much that we decided to have it as ur first dance song at our wedding, and every time I listen to it it becomes more clear that we made the right choice
I was about to leave a negative comment, cause I'm not used to this kind of music from your hand Mr Thomas, but after reading your comment, from the bottom of my heart, I salute you! What a great tribute! Avicii would be proud. Still looking forward into the future, to see what TSFH can bring us. Keep doing what you do and be truthful to yourself just as now. Much love
The first song I found from Avicii was Hey Brother, and it literally changed my taste in music. There's beauty and grace in how he writes and makes his music, you could feel each strand tells a story of its own and at the end of the day, they go so well together. People think that EDM can be soulless and it's true. Some EDM feels like your run of the mill music, but not his. There's energy in his work, spirit and love. It's not monotonous, more lyrical if sounds can sing. And that type of energy is the kind of thing that I look for in music. That love and spirit and beauty that permeates through every notes. So, thank you TSFH, for reminding me the energy of Avi through this beauty you have made. And thank you Avi, for introducing me to what music can be.
"Music makes you braver" The moment when you can *feel* that sentence while listening. This is one of the songs that makes breathing hard for me because... well, it's hard to describe, but I think saying that it makes something inside me vibrate fits the sensation the best. (And I'm absolutely sure that's not the asthma's fault.) It's something I mostly experience while listening to TSFH to be honest and I *love* it. It makes me feel alive. Alive and strong and proud.
@Tangent of circle. I agree, but also think there are so many levels to that moto. Music makes you braver. Braver to love, dance, fight, sing, think, jump, drive, work, run, play, live. I've always thought that each song makes you braver in its own way for its own purpose.
@Tangent of circle. Victory is a incredible track. Got me through my Ski Instructor exams haha. And yeah I remember when they released Invincible, and Heart of Courage hits so damn hard. It was the only album publicly available at the time so I tried to find as many of their private albums as possible, and to this day, United We Stand Divided we Fall is my favourite track, maybe not the best of course. Thats what I love about TSFH, there always will be something for everyone.
@Tangent of circle. Protectors of the Earth is amazing too. I've really been getting into their longer plays recently. Enchantress, Emerald Princess, Into Darkness, Lost in Las Vegas. Stuff you can just get lost in.
I can't explain my feelings about this song.... it's like I listened to one song, but at the same time I listened to several songs at once, such smooth transitions.... This song doesn't just play, it takes you through its world, tells its story, takes you on this journey.... When I listen to it I have a whole world in my head, it's just amazing.
When the EDM part comes up, I can hear Aviici's voice within the music, as EDM is a language of his that those who understands it will hear. A language of his that those who know will understand. It is soothing to those who can hear it, as there was this faint whisper of his voice, seeping into my ears when the EDM comes up. As a tribute to Aviici, I can hear the fragments of his workand his voice, a wonderful sound that I will miss. You will wake up when it is all over, my friend. Thank you, Thomas.
Razani Bujang me too, even without knowing that this is made for Avicii *a friend played this in my room speakers, when the EDM part comes up I said “man this sounds like Avicii” and after looking at the comments - it’s really for Avicii 🤯😍🔥
Thomas J. Bergersen and Tim Bergling are the men that I admire most in music. To know that they had this mutual respect is incredible. They both inspired me with their songs to write my books, thank you!
2 years after first listening to this, it still holds as my favorite TSFH track. I added about 1,000 views to this track already. It’s what I listen to when I am actually committed to feeling well. It starts with my base emotion - grief(in many flavors), then transforms it to the uplifting state I want to be in.
This has become my favorite song. I've always believed in the blending of old and new, of showing how they weave together and bear each other up. This song exemplifies that belief. Well, and truly done.
I discovered TSFH when heard "Victory" on some epic games soundtracks random playlist - then I was heavily googling in what game it was used... but this track came after and i love it - I like how it is raising steadily form the start to reach my fav part staring at 9:46
This song is beautiful beyond words. It's like all of my favorite genres mixed into one; from the country/folk-style acoustic guitar in the beginning, to the classic Two Steps From Hell orchestra and vocals, to the uplifting EDM beat that gives the song a crisp, frisson-inducing climactic finish. I don't think I've ever had an 11 minute long stuck in my head before. This is an absolute masterpiece. Thank you so much for sharing your incredible talent with us!
I totally agree with you: this track is an incredible blend of various sounds, instruments and styles of music. Emerald Princess is a historic milestone for contemporary musical history; and only Thomas could successfully realize such a masterpiece.
Legitimately one of the most beautiful and awe inspiring pieces of musical art ever put together as far I'm concerned. I cry tears if joy every, single, time.
I'm back again....was here 3 mos ago. Now I have read alot of the comments, which are so cool. Most everybody loves you guys AND why not, you are masters of your music. I don't have any musical background in this lifetime but it always calls to me......this kind! The big, magicial, symphony sound with strings, horns, voices, everything playing together. And you are there in the music and its in you, then you're out there somewhere....out there in another place and time. Then its over and you see that 11 mins. went by......but you need more mins......so you play it again. Thank you Thomas, love your music & you......wonder if you know how many people you touch, how many love Thomas Bergerson
And you've made something far more, your mellody became epic one, hitting and booping some of those kind of strings there Know that we are listening you still after all of the years
A year went by Avicii's passing and Thomas Bergersen presents the world an 11 minute track in honor of him. Time and effort really shows. Behalf of Avicii's fans, thank you.
Ok, after so many listening of this music, i decided to write a comment. It's only today I saw the message TSFH left, that they were in collaboration with this swedish musician. This made me really sad, because I love this music. I used to play it when I lost my father earlier in the year and this and JJBA help me to be ok. I didn't know about Avicii, but I wish to tell you, Thomas, that it's a great, an admirable work, you two made. Please, don't change anything. I hope that Avicii can be happy, wherever he is.
I loved hearing the release of the album "Seven" which was done on RUclips with Tom Bergerson in chat with us. He read all comments and made comments of the music presented. I was in tears enjoying that special gift. I listen to Emerald Princess everyday. My evenings are filled with Two Steps from Hell so I can hear my old favorites. This music is great for flying through the night sky to see what is coming. Great dancing music also! If this is in honor of Avicii then I wish to hear his music as well. The world has much music that most never get to hear.
Tell me , have you ( and all the people in the whole world ) ever heard such a brilliant music composition ? Have you ever heard anything that reminds you the at least 3 last minutes ?? The whole piece is a miracle ...
What an ingenious way of turning a sweet, mellow rhythm to a more upbeat one. I sincerely was surprised the first time I heard it but then... Pure ecstasy. A moment where you can really enjoy living on this planet and appreciating its beauty. TSFH makes you believe in a world full of harmony and grace. Thanks.
The music of Two Steps From Hell is the best music in the whole world! I think that I listen to your music for 4 years, and I still think your music is the best! Thank you!
It's Like a go in heaven and I can see Avicii and say it "you'r music are awesome and rest in our heart for forever." I thank you Thomas, for this travel :)
You know this piece, this group, this composer, is special, when you had no idea who Avicii was, but reading it is a tribute to him, it makes you cry. Stay awesome.
You should also look for 'One Million Voices' by Thomas Bergersen too. In fact, if you are new to 2 Steps from hell, boy do you have some pleasure in front of you listening to the back catalogue.
Have you seen the vizualization upload for Untold? Take a look at those strings there - ah, they are more pleasant than the twang of a well-aimed bow... even though I'm a sucker for that sound as well. :D May the Music Make you Braver!

How are there people on this planet who don't love this? It is a masterpiece. And speaking as somebody who several times would have joined Avicii in the next life, if I hadn't been incredibly fortunate, I can't quite get across just how powerful music like this is. My worst times were eight years ago now, and I'm happily much better these days - but still, on the rough days, I listen to this, and my heart flies again with awe and wonder and love and I smile again, and on I go. Through this piece of music, I reconnect with the unbridled joy I feel at being well, and being alive, being here right now. This brings me back to life, I am sure it has the same effect on many others who have suffered, and through it - and thanks to you, Thomas - Avicii will live forever.

music and time helped me alot... i dont wanna say, its all good and its bad to end your life...but i can say: find something that its worth living for. even small things help with that.
I hope you get help for yourself. You are not alone.
Hey. I'm a bit late to this, but I'm just here to say that things get better, and there are people out there who will help you reach that point. Stay strong.
People are entitled to their opinions, but I personally found the transition from epic to EDM quite fluid and masterful, without much abruption. Thomas did an amazing job with this beautiful song and shows that he's well-versed in many different forms and styles of music.
the transition is so wonderfully fluid, I never quite catch it when it happens and suddenly find myself in the next phase of the song
What an epic comment thank you for your words of wisdom
Nods, still don´t understand why he did this, with all that fame and money...

BEST song ever
Well said
I love both epic music and EDM so I find this extremely beautiful
Absolutely
Oddly enough, I think the second half is the best part.
Everything I have to say to this:
Dear Two Steps From Hell, when I discovered you about 5 years ago, you made my life complete again. You always managed to spent courage, solace, empathy, thoughtfulness, epic feelings and such much more with the rest of the world, a lot of us owe you so much. "Music makes your braver." Brave enough to step away from your known identity to pay homage to another, into a blend of styles that carries the spirit of both to a new, unique place. The harmony and contrast in this one is something I never thought I'd hear, but I'm glad I did.

I am 25 and a fan of TSFH from past 2 years. Whenever I listen to this, I feel like a child again. Who can achieve the impossible.
TSFH technically can because they have a song from Unleashed called Impossible.
This is probably the best song I have ever listened to. A perfect blend of two of my favorite genres and artists. I feel myself being transported to a different place, a perfect world where good triumphs and everything is glorious. Omggg...

People told me about this one before it was even uploaded, the hype did not disappoint. :)
Same!

"Music makes you braver"
The moment when you can *feel* that sentence while listening.
Razani Bujang me too, even without knowing that this is made for Avicii

And you've made something far more, your mellody became epic one, hitting and booping some of those kind of strings there

Amazing! Such an incredible tribute to Avicii and a great melding of EDM and orchestral music.
I loved hearing the release of the album "Seven" which was done on RUclips with Tom Bergerson in chat with us. He read all comments and made comments of the music presented. This is my favourite Two Steps From Hell work, and I can't explain why, save to say... it resonates within my soul.
