Noise cancellation works by emitting a sound wave similar to the noise, but reversed. The two interact, and if properly aligned, because one is the reverse of the other, they'll sum to zero. If they're not properly aligned, however, you'll find points where it's zero, and others where it's double the original noise. So yes, they can definitively make the noise worse, depending on where you stand. And it's not even a flaw of the product that could be fixed. The whole idea is wrong, because physically impossible to realise.

Can't wait to see your video with pure noise cancelling, without creating new sounds from muzo. I missed the kickstarter and keep on checking on ebay if someone is selling it. Since this year the street noise is making me crazy, the earplugs I used for years did not isolate the low bass sounds of some cars, bus and trucks anymore + shorty I got removed ear wax. Trying to sleep is crazy right now. I constantly keep waking up and get terrorized by the street sounds. I tested many others earplugs, but they all fail now. Muzo ist my last hope.
Of course it doesn't work, the whole thing was a scam designed to take easy money out of idiots who wanna buy a magic device that magically removes all noise. I always underestimate how stupid most people are.
I just received mine, it's totally vaporware. As some people said, it's a white-noise machine. It just makes irritating noise, but it works at least like a decent bluetooth speaker you can connect to your smartphone or computer. And the app with configurable ambient sounds is not bad! It's just a completely diffrent device compared to what they claimed they where developing.

Hi Sung, that's what Muzo refers to as Secret mode. I'd have to do a real use-case test to know if Muzo could actually accomplish that, but I really don't think it will be possible. Example, if I were sitting at my desk having Muzo in Secret mode attached to the top surface of my desk, the premise of Secret Mode would be that I should be able to, for example, count to 10 in a normal talking voice, and someone 5-10 feet away from me would not be able to hear me . Or, at the very least, it should be harder to hear what I'm saying. I'll try a test with my wife here in our apartment and report back with my findings. I'm not very optimistic that it will do that to any large degree, but it's worth a test.
Update: I just installed the app, and unfortunately the first pass is disappointing. Video: ruclips.net/video/sjRDXhAK7FM/видео.html 1. Serenity Mode doesn't seem to do anything other than monitor the noise. Though, it does seem to be registering the sound levels correct floating between City Traffic (70db) and Noisy Restaurant (80db, when a loud car or motorcycle goes by) 2. Can't seem to control Sleep Mode sounds via the app when paired to the Muzo hardware. Secret mode sounds can be controlled by the app, but not Sleep Mode. Separately, I'm glad the app gives us the opportunity to change the brightness of the light, as well as change the colors. I used Muzo last night in Secret Mode to drown out some snoring, but had to cover it with a towel to block the light.
mike koroshun check out my other video ruclips.net/video/0g9jWOvH5os/видео.html You'll see In the app, when i switch over to Serenity mode, the app will show you a monitor of current sound level. I just haven't found a way to experience any noise cancellation capabilities yet.
I'm going to hold my judgement until I have the app. I've been running mine (in manual mode) for the last couple of hours, mounted in the same location as you see in the video. My desk is directly to the right of the window, where I'm sitting about 3 feet away. I've tried Sleep & Secret mode -- both of which emit sounds. I haven't noticed any sounds or noise cancelling from Serenity mode yet. Purely as a sound machine, with the window open, it does a decent job of drowning out some of the street noise. That said, I'm more curious to find out how/if the sound cancelling will work. Will post updates once I have the app, and do more testing.
Thanks Mike. You are the only person I know of who has posted photos or videos of it. I see the app is on the Google play store. I do not see it in the iPhone App Store. Thanks again and happy testing!

I'm still testing Muzo to see how to utilize the noise reduction capability in Serenity Mode. I'll post an update when I figure out how it works, and how well it works.
Unless something changes, I would not recommend purchasing Muzo for noise reduction. If you want to use it for noise masking (like a white noise machine), it's decent at that, but you likely can get better white noise capability from a portable bluetooth speaker and your mobile phone.
Thank you for posting this video. My neighbour works at her house making shoes, using sewing machine and a hammer. It´s driving us crazy! Do you think Muzo would work with that kind of noises? Thank you!
Hey Cristina -- well, from sound masking perspective, Muzo appears to work at least as good as any other sound machine. It also has the ability to have the sounds it emits enhanced when connected to some sound-conductive materials like aluminum, foam core, glass, plastic boxes. Hard to say whether or not it will work in your environment, but as I mentioned previously, I have't yet figured out how to test the noise cancelling capability. Though, I did use Secret mode last night to drown out the snoring that was happening on the other side of my bed, and it seemed to do the job well enough :)

Can you recommend any alternative? I have a nice but unfortunately loud (trafic noise) room and surching for solutions!
At this point, I don't know of any similar noise cancellation devices other than the ones that currently exist in earbud or headphone form.
You may want to explore some of the ideas on this site:
stopsounds.com/
I haven't yet gone through all the links, but it may be a good resource to research noise cancellation products.
Outside of noise cancelling devices, there are other more traditional noise dampening solutions such as noise reducing panels and curtains.
I have double glazing (in Holland), live far above traffic, and still have to wear headphones to cancel out all the noises.
I LOST MY MONEY WITH THIS SCAM PRODUCT. IT IS SCAMMER AND DOESNT REDUCE ANY SOUND, IT JUST MAKE NOISE TO PERTURB US.
Urasın videosundan gelenler djdj

Абсолютная фигня! Нет подавления шума в противофазе,а глушить встроенными звуками не стоит того,чтобы претендовать на новую научную разработку
