Here's why I think you're wrong. In the Caesar arc, Trafalgar switches bodies between some people with his devil fruit. Two of his targets were Smoker and Tashigi. When he does that, Smoker's "soul" (or mind, whatever) goes to Tashigi's body and vice versa. When that happens, their memories, personalities and everything switch, however Smoker's devil fruit power remains in his original body. That means that devil fruits are connected to the physical body and not the soul. Same with Luffy going into that zombie's body in Thriller Bark. The giant-oni zombie could not use Luffy's devil fruit powers. So even if Blackbeard had multiple souls, he would still have one body and therefore be able to consume only one devil fruit. There must be something about his body, as Marco said about it and how it's "strange". Maybe he's a chimera with triple DNA.

Going back to the whole Blackbeard multiple personality/soul thing, his teeth and which ones are missing change based on the panel but are consistent otherwise in merchandise. This would have to be be deliberate on Oda's part. I'm curious if his different behaviors could be mapped to each combination of teeth.

The Blackbeard sleep theory reminds me of Cavendish. Whenever Cavendish tries to go to sleep he awakens Hakuba a split personality so he's never truly asleep. Perhaps it's the same with Blackbeard.

It could be possible that Blackbeard already had a third devil fruit as a child. Maybe a fruit that allowed him to absorb souls. SPOILERS!!!! Oda revealed recently that Teach has two little sisters. It could be possible Teach ate a soul absorbtion fruit as a kid, something happened to his sisters to were they passed and BB was able to absorb their souls thus allowing him to have the ability to have more than one DF. Also look at BB's flag the two skulls are smaller than the middle one this could be BB's tribute to his little sisters.
I thought the reason he was able to have a second fruit was because his Yami Yami lets him absorb the fruits essence and thus prevents it from reincarnating elsewhere.

Nobody seems to bring it up when they talk about this subject, but the multiple beings thing was brought up explicitly by both Luffy and Zoro way back in Jaya, Chapter 225. Blackbeard gives his iconic "Dreams Never Die" Speech to Luffy and yet he and Zoro ignore him completely and walk away. When Nami prompts them why they didn't ask that guy about Skypiea, Luffy simply states, "Well... It's not just one guy" and Zoro chimes in "There's More than One...". If we want to take that speech more literally, then Xebec's soul is most likely at least one of the ones inhabiting Blackbeard seeing as he bested Shanks no problem and his dream isn't dead yet.

I don't think the Dark-Dark was his first fruit. How else would he just randomly figure he can hold more than one fruit, like "hey guys, im pretty sure I can eat another devil fruit but i don't wanna eat just any fruit, it's gotta be the strongest one"
I thought, he read about the Dark-Dark fruit in a book, so he could recognize the fruit, when it was found. And in that book were a description of the fruit, including the info about the ability to absorb other fruit-powers.
But it's also not the strongest one either, It's the ultimate defence and it doesn't make any sense without the ultimate offence. Both of them combined, as the Blackbeard stated, make him the strongest in the world. So he definitely knew he could consume both AND I think Dark Dark fruit also gives him the possibility to steal other's fruits.
@@johnyreyes3567 The Dark-Dark fruit has the ability to absorb other devil fruits into the user, given the right conditions (absolute darkness). Not sure why you'd think otherwise. if it couldn't, then Blackbeard wouldn't have needed to cover Whitebeard's body with that thick cloak to steal his power. He could have just had the right fruit on hand and eaten it in front of everyone after Whitebeard fully died. Blackbeard himself states that the Dark-Dark fruit isn't just DF nullification. It's the ability to suck in anything into his darkness.

I'm liking this multi soul theory more and more. Perhaps blackbeard is resistant to observation haki, which is how he could cut shanks (observation is used on a dormant soul instead of the active one, or the observation is distorted due to multiple souls making the future sight difficult to interpret)
If that were the case, Marco and pretty much anyone with haki would know the secret behind Blackbeard as they would be able to sense 3 different souls.

I actually love this theory. It always bothered me, that the 'genius' Blackbeard acts like doof in certain situations. How about this: Rocks did this. He might had a power (devil fruit or not), that works like All Might from bnha. Lets say Teach is the third, maybe even fourth or fifth in line, and from time to time he has a Aang like conversation with the previous Avat... i mean Pirates.

Since Blackbeard is a D., I assume he was born naturally instead of being created artifically by Vinsmoke Judge and Dr. Vegapunk (based purely on the fact that Blackbeard had access to the book of Devil Fruits). So I find it not unlikely that Blackbeard was either actually a conjoined triplet or got modified to one later, maybe just as an experiment. He escaped when Whitebeard took him in in one of the recent chapters. Something along those lines.

After rewatching the enies lobby arc blueno said that if a person were to eat 2 devil fruits they would blow up. I found this interesting and it brought about a theory what if blackbeard is fat because he houses 2 or more bodies, so rather than there being 2 souls, he has 1 soul split between two or possibly more bodies allowing him to basically switch his metabolism from one body to another while the other body is basically resting so he never has to sleep. At the same time his soul feels the stress of the body charging which is why as a child he was crying and couldn't sleep.

I revisited this video and read some theories and im almost sure that blackbeard are three brother in one body, so the theory is: Blackbeard is a reference of the "Barbarrossa"(Redbeard) pirates brothers Aruj, Hızır, Ishaq and Ilias yes they where 4 but at some point in the history Aruj who was known as Barbarossa was killed and then Hızır took his name and continue his legacy, names are not really important as Oda just uses them as references for example the real life Blackbeard was called Edward Teach but Oda named him Marshall D Teach, so names are just references but investigating a bit more in Redbeard pirates history i found some little intresting facts that like in his carrer the four brothers initially worked as sailors, but then turned privateers in the Mediterranean to counteract the privateering of the Knights Hospitalle of St. John("San Juan" in spanish) and we have Sanjuan Wolf as a member of Teach's crew also the mother of the Redbeards brothers was called Catalina and again we have Catarina Devon as a member, also they where Turkish and the flag of Turkish has a moon and a star similar to the one we see the first time we see Teach as a child crying. So from there on the theory begins, yes the Redbeards where 4 i say that the references maybe is that the 4th brother was Rocks D. Go back and watch that part in full context. “Them” was referring to Blackbeard’s crew that were scattered throughout that town in Jaya. And it doesn’t make any sense that Zoro and Luffy would figure out in that one encounter that BB’s body is strange or that it is composed of multiple people. Why would Blackbeard look for the yami-yami specifically if the fruit hadn't a specific ability? Since he can negate other devil fruit powers by touching the users, it's not crazy to assume that he found an even greater power. It might even be his awakened power, but that's really a stretch considering he didn't eat the fruit too long ago. Not sure why people accept the ideas of more souls or having a different body as the answer. If anything, Blackbeard not needing to sleep could just be an elaboration on Marco when he said Blackbeard had a special body. Also, we didn't see Whitbeard's power transfer to a fruit or anything, Blackbeard specifically covered him so no one sees what he is doing, which at this point stands to reason he used his devil fruit ability to acquire a second power.

There was not a battle, if there were a battle I'm sure that the rest of the crew would do something. Blackbeard probably stabbed him in the back or when he was sleeping, Thatch wouldn't be on guard around BB, they were crewmates for decades.

We know that teach has strange anatomy, and was considered a kind of monster by shanks and buggy, His teeth missing and being whole can be explained away as a design mistake by Oda. Though it would be entertaining to see if this is in fact a subtly overlooked clue that hits at his true nature, perhaps Rocks survived the battle thanks to an unknown devil fruit power, found blackbeard his...offspring or younger brother, and he and encouraged him to take the yami yami no mi devil fruit even taking over his personality at times through some kind of body possession (multiple souls) (gives credit to seeming multiple personalities, a younger vulnerable, sensitive type, the hardened ruthless rocks type personality) and perhaps since this trio likes 3s and Oda is all about that symbolism a third brother, either a parasitic twin, actual brother, or clone that comes into play later, this one eats the third devil fruit, thus gives him 3 bodies to harness the power of his 3 devil fruits. To protect his secret the Yami Yami no mi allows him to switch or draw out any of the brothers at any time, or switch them up so that each brother could theoretically take damage or use his power as needed. As for the possibility of his final devil fruits. One the most powerful logia, one the most powerful paramecia, and finally maybe the most mysterious or underestimated mythical zone type, the oni oni no mi. (that while not directly the strongest, gives the user supernatural powers that could potentially make it the strongest) With this Oni are spirits, so theres your spiritual connection, (initially weak) causing death and destruction and fear makes the oni oni more powerful and not fearing it or death is how you weaken it so it cant feed off your own emotions like a spiritual vampire. (how rocks gets most powerful) When it kills a creature it can absorb some of their soul to heal or store for later consumption to power itself up making it a juggernaught in its "beast" form. It can also detach into a spiritual astral projection like form, phase matter, ghost shit possess people, feed off their soul to keep the user sustained or even control them if they're weak willed or dont possess conquerors haki to defend against this. Its awakening can simply make it so that it can fuse its ghostly manifestation with the physical body, but one must have come close to death itself to unlock this ultimate talent of the fruit.
I always just thought it was in a loose way, similar to how big mom got her fruit. She ate someone [mother caramel] who had a devil fruit and gained the power. I get the feeling things are simpler than people imagine. Personally, I call my theory the "infinite mass" theory, and it's primarily based off of two things. 1. Devil Fruits exploding the body is specifically mentioned as the spirits within the fruits fighting for space with each other. The only reason the body explodes is as a result of the two spirit's battling applying force from the inside. 2. The darkness of the Yami Yami no Mi is pretty explicitly shown to be in the veins of a "black hole" interpretation specifically as opposed to a vaguer "lack of light." Think of it more like a logia that turns him into a "black hole" rather than just "darkness" in general. Basically, if you put these two facts together and assume that Blackbeard's body has the properties of an actual Black Hole, then anything he takes into his body gets compressed into a singular point and literally takes up no more "space" than he allows it to. If this is true, _then this could very well include devil fruit spirits as well._ He just takes a spirit into his body and compresses it down. This means it doesn't have to "share space" with any other spirits and therefore his body can hold multiple spirits without exploding because his body having infinite mass means no spirit inside of it ever has to "compete for space." This explains not only Blackbeard's obsession with the fruit before he had it (since you would need the Yami Yami no Mi before any other fruits to be able to follow through with this "technique") but also why his crew seems to be oriented towards gathering and taking out other devil fruit users specifically after he was able to test the theory for the first time on Whitebeard. With this "compression" of the spirit and a black hole being able to essentially compress things infinitely, that means he can theoretically hold an infinite amount of fruits, not just two or three like all the other theories propose. If it was double souls or the cerberus theory, then it wouldn't make sense for him to gather fruits in mass, rather he'd likely go after the two or three most powerful ones he knew about. But instead he's going after ALL of them, which only makes sense if he had plans for ALL of them. Also, it still falls under the description of "having an unusual body." Admittedly there IS a bit of room for this still to be wrong as point #1 was told in the sense that it was a kind of folklore or myth, so if we ever meet someone like Vegapunk who actually knows the inner mechanisms of devil fruits it could change up that explanation. Also point #2 is based off of the fact that as a "black hole" is really the only way we've actually seen Blackbeard use its powers and it's possible the fruit covers a wider array of abilities (though even if it could it doesn't really invalidate my theory). Lastly is that he could just be collecting as many fruits as possible simply to deny their powers to other pirate crews rather than having any actual plans for them himself. But by and large I think "his body is a black hole, and therefore has infinite space to be able to hold multiple spirits inside his body" is the simplest explanation that still has logical explanations based on what we currently know about him and his powers without having to try and conjure up too many new ideas.
I feel like that is too basic and wont appeal to fans of one piece such as myself. People have been waiting for years to find out BB's true power and if its something as basic as that people wont be happy considering it is such an OP ability. I reckon his powers have something to do with teach as a person, he is a D after all.
My theory is that blackbeard, in a previous lifetime, was given "immortality" from the Ope Ope no Mi It sounds dumb but hear me out... Maybe Immortality in this way doesn't work like we thought it did? maybe when the immortal person dies they are reborn in another's body? I think 2 lifetimes ago someone who was a Genius tactician was given immortality I think when they died, they were reborn as Rocks, who then added a Front-line idiotic fighter who wanted chaos and I think when Rocks finally died, he became blackbeard, who added a nice innocent personality. I was always under the impression that Yami Yami no Mi has the ability to absorb anything and that included other Devil Fruit abilities. Since a person is dead then Blackbeard can absorb fully the ability that person had. Something along that line. So i guess technically he didn't eat 2 devil fruits.

Make a video about this telling. I have a theory that buggy is actually strong but is maintaining a low profile so as to keep an eye on luffy as per shanks' order.
These are just some quick thoughts. What if during the inevitable confrontation at Raftel, a downed and lost Blackbeard after his final fight with Luffy will realize that Luffy really is the man who truly deserves to become the king of the pirates and will smile like a D. and tell him to follow his dreams with one final laugh. This is assuming that Luffy doesn't outright kill him since he normally destroys the dreams of his enemies and not kill them. Another option is what if Blackbeard joins up with Luffy to take down the world government after they find out about the true history? Maybe the One Piece is a contingency plan for something big and not simply a huge treasure or an ancient weapons, it should be information that allows the user to enact whatever the D. clan from the Ancient Kingdom tried to do. Roger and his crew found out they were not ready and interpreted the information differently, so Shanks is waiting for someone like Luffy who can fulfill whatever the plan is. One more is that Luffy and Blackbeard have an epic fight before and during Raftel (it starts over sea) and in the end, Teach dies or is defeated because he kept using his devil fruits too much and less focus on haki (Luffy would defeat Blackbeard using his haki and willpower of Roger that he inherited). Maybe Teach drowns to make it poetic or he realizes that he was defeated just like how Ace was too reliant on his devil fruit and less on haki. Luffy might never forgive Blackbeard for what happened to Ace but I think Luffy should be really mature about it and realize that it was Ace who caused his own death to save Luffy's life and that Blackbeard simply acting like a true pirate would. Luffy should understand that being a pirate comes with its own sacrifices by now.

Here's why I think you're wrong.
In the Caesar arc, Trafalgar switches bodies between some people with his devil fruit. Two of his targets were Smoker and Tashigi. When he does that, Smoker's "soul" (or mind, whatever) goes to Tashigi's body and vice versa.
When that happens, their memories, personalities and everything switch, however Smoker's devil fruit power remains in his original body. That means that devil fruits are connected to the physical body and not the soul. Same with Luffy going into that zombie's body in Thriller Bark. The giant-oni zombie could not use Luffy's devil fruit powers. So even if Blackbeard had multiple souls, he would still have one body and therefore be able to consume only one devil fruit.
There must be something about his body, as Marco said about it and how it's "strange". Maybe he's a chimera with triple DNA.

Nobody seems to bring it up when they talk about this subject, but the multiple beings thing was brought up explicitly by both Luffy and Zoro way back in Jaya, Chapter 225. Blackbeard gives his iconic "Dreams Never Die" Speech to Luffy and yet he and Zoro ignore him completely and walk away. When Nami prompts them why they didn't ask that guy about Skypiea, Luffy simply states, "Well... It's not just one guy" and Zoro chimes in "There's More than One...". If we want to take that speech more literally, then Xebec's soul is most likely at least one of the ones inhabiting Blackbeard seeing as he bested Shanks no problem and his dream isn't dead yet.

I thought, he read about the Dark-Dark fruit in a book, so he could recognize the fruit, when it was found. And in that book were a description of the fruit, including the info about the ability to absorb other fruit-powers.
But it's also not the strongest one either, It's the ultimate defence and it doesn't make any sense without the ultimate offence. Both of them combined, as the Blackbeard stated, make him the strongest in the world.
So he definitely knew he could consume both AND I think Dark Dark fruit also gives him the possibility to steal other's fruits.

if it couldn't, then Blackbeard wouldn't have needed to cover Whitebeard's body with that thick cloak to steal his power. He could have just had the right fruit on hand and eaten it in front of everyone after Whitebeard fully died.
Blackbeard himself states that the Dark-Dark fruit isn't just DF nullification. It's the ability to suck in anything into his darkness.
I don't think BB knew for sure if it would work or not. He's most likely aware that his body is abnormal and took a chance at fate that he'd survive eating another fruit

Perhaps blackbeard is resistant to observation haki, which is how he could cut shanks (observation is used on a dormant soul instead of the active one, or the observation is distorted due to multiple souls making the future sight difficult to interpret)

So I find it not unlikely that Blackbeard was either actually a conjoined triplet or got modified to one later, maybe just as an experiment. He escaped when Whitebeard took him in in one of the recent chapters.

After rewatching the enies lobby arc blueno said that if a person were to eat 2 devil fruits they would blow up. I found this interesting and it brought about a theory what if blackbeard is fat because he houses 2 or more bodies, so rather than there being 2 souls, he has 1 soul split between two or possibly more bodies allowing him to basically switch his metabolism from one body to another while the other body is basically resting so he never has to sleep. At the same time his soul feels the stress of the body charging which is why as a child he was crying and couldn't sleep.

I revisited this video and read some theories and im almost sure that blackbeard are three brother in one body, so the theory is: Blackbeard is a reference of the "Barbarrossa"(Redbeard) pirates brothers Aruj, Hızır, Ishaq and Ilias yes they where 4 but at some point in the history Aruj who was known as Barbarossa was killed and then Hızır took his name and continue his legacy, names are not really important as Oda just uses them as references for example the real life Blackbeard was called Edward Teach but Oda named him Marshall D Teach, so names are just references but investigating a bit more in Redbeard pirates history i found some little intresting facts that like in his carrer the four brothers initially worked as sailors, but then turned privateers in the Mediterranean to counteract the privateering of the Knights Hospitalle of St. John("San Juan" in spanish) and we have Sanjuan Wolf as a member of Teach's crew also the mother of the Redbeards brothers was called Catalina and again we have Catarina Devon as a member, also they where Turkish and the flag of Turkish has a moon and a star similar to the one we see the first time we see Teach as a child crying.
So from there on the theory begins, yes the Redbeards where 4 i say that the references maybe is that the 4th brother was Rocks D. Xebec and after dying his brothers took his legacy, then the three brothes that maybe where triplets and could be an explanation of the three skulls in Blackbeard jolly roger, at an early age one of them let's say Teach ate a fruit maybe like the Jake Jake no Mi that Kelly Funk uses in Dressrossa in chapter 716 one brother uses the other as a jacket, well something similar could be the case for Teach but in a way that he can freely change with his triplets and they can manipulate the body completely or partially, so that explains Teach multiple personalities as they are different persons in one body(there is also some of the theory that says that in the manga you can only see Teach missing 3 or 4 teeth and one that has all of them but i dont know if thats true or not i didnt check all of Teach appearances and i know that in the anime you can see him missing 2 o 5 so im a little suspicious in this regard), and that's why in marineford they coverd him in a black cloth as the brothers came out of the body and with the power of the Yomi Yomi no Mi he could extract the power of the Gura Gura no Mi from Whitebeard's body and gave it to the last brother to obtain his powers, so that would explain how Shiryu got the Suke Suke no Mi's powers from Absalom and the reason why Teach didn't got a third Akuma no Mi, and finally the first time luffy meets Teach is in Chapter 223 but then in chapter 225 after Teach says to nami that Luffy and Zoro won against Bellamy and says that a mans dream never ends, he ask luffy where were they going luffy says to the sky island and Teach raply hope you make it then Nami all confuse say's to luffy that maybe he knows something about the sky island then luffy replys "Dunno, but it's not him..." and Zoro add "It's Them... most likely", so for some reason they knew it was more than one Teach or maybe at that point in time both shown that the where able to hear the voices of all things?

Why would Blackbeard look for the yami-yami specifically if the fruit hadn't a specific ability? Since he can negate other devil fruit powers by touching the users, it's not crazy to assume that he found an even greater power. It might even be his awakened power, but that's really a stretch considering he didn't eat the fruit too long ago. Not sure why people accept the ideas of more souls or having a different body as the answer. If anything, Blackbeard not needing to sleep could just be an elaboration on Marco when he said Blackbeard had a special body. Also, we didn't see Whitbeard's power transfer to a fruit or anything, Blackbeard specifically covered him so no one sees what he is doing, which at this point stands to reason he used his devil fruit ability to acquire a second power.

We know that teach has strange anatomy, and was considered a kind of monster by shanks and buggy, His teeth missing and being whole can be explained away as a design mistake by Oda. Though it would be entertaining to see if this is in fact a subtly overlooked clue that hits at his true nature, perhaps Rocks survived the battle thanks to an unknown devil fruit power, found blackbeard his...offspring or younger brother, and he and encouraged him to take the yami yami no mi devil fruit even taking over his personality at times through some kind of body possession (multiple souls) (gives credit to seeming multiple personalities, a younger vulnerable, sensitive type, the hardened ruthless rocks type personality) and perhaps since this trio likes 3s and Oda is all about that symbolism a third brother, either a parasitic twin, actual brother, or clone that comes into play later, this one eats the third devil fruit, thus gives him 3 bodies to harness the power of his 3 devil fruits. To protect his secret the Yami Yami no mi allows him to switch or draw out any of the brothers at any time, or switch them up so that each brother could theoretically take damage or use his power as needed.
As for the possibility of his final devil fruits. One the most powerful logia, one the most powerful paramecia, and finally maybe the most mysterious or underestimated mythical zone type, the oni oni no mi. (that while not directly the strongest, gives the user supernatural powers that could potentially make it the strongest) With this Oni are spirits, so theres your spiritual connection, (initially weak) causing death and destruction and fear makes the oni oni more powerful and not fearing it or death is how you weaken it so it cant feed off your own emotions like a spiritual vampire. (how rocks gets most powerful) When it kills a creature it can absorb some of their soul to heal or store for later consumption to power itself up making it a juggernaught in its "beast" form. It can also detach into a spiritual astral projection like form, phase matter, ghost shit possess people, feed off their soul to keep the user sustained or even control them if they're weak willed or dont possess conquerors haki to defend against this. Its awakening can simply make it so that it can fuse its ghostly manifestation with the physical body, but one must have come close to death itself to unlock this ultimate talent of the fruit.

I always just thought it was in a loose way, similar to how big mom got her fruit. She ate someone [mother caramel] who had a devil fruit and gained the power. I view it as the character being a temp-active container for the devil fruit [and a temp-passive container when in fruit form]. And like how black holes can "eat" matter, I figured the yami-yami no mi was eating just the devil fruit within its own subspace [when he sucks things in], and creating a pseudo container with his power.

I get the feeling things are simpler than people imagine. Personally, I call my theory the "infinite mass" theory, and it's primarily based off of two things.
1. Devil Fruits exploding the body is specifically mentioned as the spirits within the fruits fighting for space with each other. The only reason the body explodes is as a result of the two spirit's battling applying force from the inside.
2. The darkness of the Yami Yami no Mi is pretty explicitly shown to be in the veins of a "black hole" interpretation specifically as opposed to a vaguer "lack of light." Think of it more like a logia that turns him into a "black hole" rather than just "darkness" in general.
Basically, if you put these two facts together and assume that Blackbeard's body has the properties of an actual Black Hole, then anything he takes into his body gets compressed into a singular point and literally takes up no more "space" than he allows it to. If this is true, _then this could very well include devil fruit spirits as well._ He just takes a spirit into his body and compresses it down. This means it doesn't have to "share space" with any other spirits and therefore his body can hold multiple spirits without exploding because his body having infinite mass means no spirit inside of it ever has to "compete for space." This explains not only Blackbeard's obsession with the fruit before he had it (since you would need the Yami Yami no Mi before any other fruits to be able to follow through with this "technique") but also why his crew seems to be oriented towards gathering and taking out other devil fruit users specifically after he was able to test the theory for the first time on Whitebeard. With this "compression" of the spirit and a black hole being able to essentially compress things infinitely, that means he can theoretically hold an infinite amount of fruits, not just two or three like all the other theories propose. If it was double souls or the cerberus theory, then it wouldn't make sense for him to gather fruits in mass, rather he'd likely go after the two or three most powerful ones he knew about. But instead he's going after ALL of them, which only makes sense if he had plans for ALL of them.
Also, it still falls under the description of "having an unusual body."
Admittedly there IS a bit of room for this still to be wrong as point #1 was told in the sense that it was a kind of folklore or myth, so if we ever meet someone like Vegapunk who actually knows the inner mechanisms of devil fruits it could change up that explanation. Also point #2 is based off of the fact that as a "black hole" is really the only way we've actually seen Blackbeard use its powers and it's possible the fruit covers a wider array of abilities (though even if it could it doesn't really invalidate my theory). Lastly is that he could just be collecting as many fruits as possible simply to deny their powers to other pirate crews rather than having any actual plans for them himself.
But by and large I think "his body is a black hole, and therefore has infinite space to be able to hold multiple spirits inside his body" is the simplest explanation that still has logical explanations based on what we currently know about him and his powers without having to try and conjure up too many new ideas.
I feel like that is too basic and wont appeal to fans of one piece such as myself. People have been waiting for years to find out BB's true power and if its something as basic as that people wont be happy considering it is such an OP ability. I reckon his powers have something to do with teach as a person, he is a D after all.
My theory is that blackbeard, in a previous lifetime, was given "immortality" from the Ope Ope no Mi

It seems like Blackbeard has a reoccurring theme that involves the “Rule of Three.” He gave Shanks 3 scars. He carries 3 pistols. His jolly roger has 3 skulls. He was involved with the deaths of 3 former crew mates. And it seems he’s trying to get 3 Devil fruits. I know I’m stating the obvious, but damn it really makes you wonder
Umm, I agree with all yor statements except him trying to obtain spesifically 3 df. I believe that has never been implied? Correct me if i am wrong.
Also all he is missing is a zoan devil fruit which will most likely be Cerberus.

I was always under the impression that Yami Yami no Mi has the ability to absorb anything and that included other Devil Fruit abilities. Since a person is dead then Blackbeard can absorb fully the ability that person had. Something along that line. So i guess technically he didn't eat 2 devil fruits.

@@tornic531 except marco mentions how they all "always knew" how special his body was. Not to mention he doesnt seem to need sleep so its a safe assumption that his body was odd before the fruit. It would make sense if he chose the yami yami no mi because it fit his odd body very well and he knew on first reading or hearing about it
Another reason for Teach being able to scar Shanks could be, maybe it's difficult to foresee his attacks with Haki because of his different souls inside of him ?
Make a video about this telling. I have a theory that buggy is actually strong but is maintaining a low profile so as to keep an eye on luffy as per shanks' order.
These are just some quick thoughts.
What if during the inevitable confrontation at Raftel, a downed and lost Blackbeard after his final fight with Luffy will realize that Luffy really is the man who truly deserves to become the king of the pirates and will smile like a D. and tell him to follow his dreams with one final laugh. This is assuming that Luffy doesn't outright kill him since he normally destroys the dreams of his enemies and not kill them.
Another option is what if Blackbeard joins up with Luffy to take down the world government after they find out about the true history? Maybe the One Piece is a contingency plan for something big and not simply a huge treasure or an ancient weapons, it should be information that allows the user to enact whatever the D. clan from the Ancient Kingdom tried to do. Roger and his crew found out they were not ready and interpreted the information differently, so Shanks is waiting for someone like Luffy who can fulfill whatever the plan is.
One more is that Luffy and Blackbeard have an epic fight before and during Raftel (it starts over sea) and in the end, Teach dies or is defeated because he kept using his devil fruits too much and less focus on haki (Luffy would defeat Blackbeard using his haki and willpower of Roger that he inherited). Maybe Teach drowns to make it poetic or he realizes that he was defeated just like how Ace was too reliant on his devil fruit and less on haki.
Luffy might never forgive Blackbeard for what happened to Ace but I think Luffy should be really mature about it and realize that it was Ace who caused his own death to save Luffy's life and that Blackbeard simply acting like a true pirate would. Luffy should understand that being a pirate comes with its own sacrifices by now.

Big Mom needs her victims to be afraid. So it would depend on which personality Blackbeard has active at the time. Plus his darkness devilfruit can negate some powers.
I wonder if Roger or Oden did notice something about the young Teach...hearing the voice of all things would include multiple souls in one body, wouldn't it?
