Even if you build complex structures like my 3x1 tower design, it is still smart to plan for raids and base defense. You don't want people wandering up to your front door whether naked or fully geared. A simple examination of any defensive structure like a castle has intermediate walls and gates to prevent anyone from approaching core structures. In rust, this includes your main base. In this album, I will walk you thru some structures I have built on my personal base in hopes to get you thinking creatively on how you can defend your base against more than just nighttime raiders. In this video I give you a tour of the EIGHT gates I have surrounding my modified 3x1 tower. They are designed to prevent traffic or access to the main compound and create a 'safe zone' for me that is also highly defensible.

Thanks. Would you care to elaborate though on what path you'd take to get there? I've had plenty of claims but no one who claims they can do it with little c4 has ever proven what they said.

Anytime someone build to get into the compound area I turned it into a gate which is how I arrived at this 8 gate system. With what I have in this video, there is no real build able areas anymore so you have to use C4. I would love to have some proficient raiders to still try and prove me wrong. No one has yet to do so though.

I still didnt get how you get down from the top if all the doors are closed?

You open the door of your level and jump to the stairwell. You can jump more diagonally to reach it.

ah i see so the T section part is a stairwell all the way. what happens if someone blows into the stairwell though? Wouldnt they we able to reach any floor by blowing another 2 doors?

jasjeetsuri If they use enough c4 to go into the stairwell, yes they could get to the middle floors easier. However the top floors have doorways preventing this without more c4 and/or using the trick to get up. While slightly less secure than the original 3x1 idea, it is a compromise to make it a little easier for day to day play while still retaining a lot of the security and annoyance of the original design.

makes sense, i was doubting my self lol. Many of us wont have the privilege of the super defense, so without that the stairway does make it a compromise. Otherwise good idea mate.
