This video proves great songs come from great minds pondering great ideas. Supertramp has always been the No. 1 existential guidepost in my life coming from the world of Rock HANDS DOWN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The Logical Song was my Zen meditation tool before I even truly caught on to the need to meditate on God and the meaning of life. If only people understood how significant the philosophy of the life of Rock is. Rock is NOT something from outside God's universe but definitely His own substance unarguably. Just as its mother the Blues is it is MEDICINAL. But unfortunately it is misused........ just as most good things are.

It's been helping me in the same way as an adult for decades. I know exactly what you mean by "crazy" and it's really tough to be torn between those two worlds inside of yourself. One is only held together by yourself and a few singers or writers, etc, who echo the things that you're seeing and feeling on the deepest level. The other is the false, performing you that's supported by an entire society of others behaving and acting in a likewise manner (mostly unconsciously). You doubt your own consciousness (intuition) because it gets such minimal support. But the unconscious performing you has the entire society backing it up because that's the way we're supposed to be in order for this clockwork horror to keep ticking along, ensuring that the one-eyed man remains king!

Those that never spent time and energy researching real history, have never connected to reality. Ruling class controlled schools, TV, movies, etc, will never connect you with the truth. Truth seeking is a individual thing that no one will support you in doing. Only mocking, putdowns by people that are very afraid of what they may learn talking to you.

I was 13 in the summer of 1979 when Breakfast In America was #1 on the charts. Such wonderful memories of my youth. I was also really getting into bands like Rush, Yes, etc. and got my first guitar on Christmas 1980. Roger still sounds amazing, and it's nice to hear about his inspiration for writing these songs. Bob Seger said it best: "Today's Music Ain't Got The Same Soul... I Like That Old Time Rock 'n Roll".

I had the great pleasure of being at a Supertramp concert (Crisis? What Crisis?) in Sydney (1976 maybe) and the greater pleasure of reliving the genius of Hodgson in Sydney (about 2014), when he took the audience on a tour of his mind and the background to those excellent songs.

This song reminds me of my childhood and when I was older and understand the lyrics, I realised it was about my life. My mother screaming I had to be realistic and not a dreamer, that I should learn at school, and not just staring out of the window in my schoolclass. That I had to stop dreaming and fantasising, but be rational and for Gods sake study for a job to earn a living.
My parents were desperate that I never find a job. So I did my best, with ups and lots of downs, learnt to be a nurse, earnt money, got realistic and wasnt feeling happy at all.
Long story short, I couldn’t work anymore as a nurse because of a disease, and finally find my old self again. Now I dance, I sing, I sell my art and feel that that is who I am.

It's never gonna be enough Roger! What a talent. Saw Supertramp in London 1983, good music never gets old. Amazing how he can pick up a song or part of the song and after all these years can still sound like the recording.

My favourite line is “One, Two, Three, Five”. The perfect summary of the overreach in order to sell a narrative. The missing piece. It’s what we leave out that defines our agendas perhaps more than what we include.

Supertramp stayed at my house during the Breakfast in America tour. I had no fucking idea of who they were (4 person house) and all I knew was that everyone in the house was going to San Antonio and I'd have the place to myself for once. Joy. But I will always remember that one member had a child and he had a hand puppet. And, dear lord, he was so good with it that I was just as fascinated as the kid with what he could do. This I won't forget.

    Socialized Insanity
    I’m a transistorized, transgenederized, transmogrified trans-human
    A corporatized, commercialized, industrial-strength consumer
A goal setting, gym sweating, debt fretting freak
A social climbing net-worker that’s always on heat
I got my edumacation, majoring in indoctrination
Where they taught me to comply, to never question why
And so I’m chasing an illusion, of success that’s a delusion
That is sending me insane, exploding my brain
And as we teeter on the brink, soon to be extinct
I always have a smile, coz' I'm living in denial.

I was married to concert promoter Ken Cooper of Brimstone Productions in Calgary in 79 and we just had our son when he did the mid west Canada tour with them. We went horseback riding with them. Roger had his baby son with him so we had our babies shake hands. They are 40 yrs old now. Prior to their touring Canada, Ken was asst producer on the first Superman film and turned the director Dick Donner onto Supertramp and that's how they ended up on the car radio as Lois's car was getting buried.
