I love watching these knowing I won’t remember any of it when I get on the slopes 😂
I was just thinking that.
Same. In the bumps I get sloppy. But I love to watch others ski them well.
So true. After years of trying, here's what helps me: 1) soft snow; 2) short poles; 3) lots of practice on smooth cruiser runs leading to easy moguls on gently pitched slopes; 4) foot-to-foot skiing from the smooth upper side of one mogul to the next (stay out of that deep trough); 5) it's OK to twist those skis at the ankles...forget that carving nonsense; 6) pay attention to pressure on your shins and the balls of your feet. I have not yet mastered the forward-aft pressure changes for absorption, but watch the experts on a steep slope and see how their foot motion resembles pedaling a bike backwards: pushing down to stand erect near the bottom, compressing near the top, heaving hips forward if needed to get forward again (on the balls of your feet). An acquaintance who was on Breckenridge's demo team says the best way to learn is to ski moguls after a fresh powder dump when you cannot see them but have to feel them from your feet. Finally, get Dan DiPiro's book (yes, a book).
Thank you so much for the valuable input! I think the turning of the feet as opposed to bending the skis or tilting them to "carve" around could really help me. I've never thought about this and I'll be sure to focus on it when I get up later this week. 😁 @@PR-rh9qm
The best videos on moguls that I’ve seen! Now I understand that I am too slow with my feet in the bumps. Ty
Another great video Julie!
Another awesome bump video! I love watching these. More please! 😊
I like that camera angle. And using dark color skis shows more.
This is a criminally under-followed account.
Love the edging explanation! I also have a long pole, which causes some problems on the hands after poling.
Just one long pole? An amazing affect.
Julie, I have never seen anyone with such composure in the bumps. You really make it seem so easy. Are you also that calm inside when you're skiing moguls, because I certainly am not.
The other thing I would say for anybody who wants to improve their skiing. Ski the bumps.
I am not really a moGul skier But anytime I feel like i'm not skiing that well, I will go and ski nothing but bumps for a day, And I always feel like i'm skiing better the next time out. No matter where i'm skiing.
Great videos. It's clear that you are a mogul master. What is your back ground in mogul skiing? Did you compete? Where did you acquire your skills?
Stomping and rolling edges are all good skill fragments. fore aft balance adjustments are even more necessary for accurate pressure control for skiing in bumps, powder and steeps. manipulating flat skis is an edging skill that quick turning requires for good bump skiing. Over edging is a common error causing skis to take off in uncontrolled accelerations.
Foot to foot people, foot to foot.
@julierayrealtor7996 I can see why you don't know what I mean. I'm not sure what I meant eather.
I will have re-watch and get back to you.
4th skier has calm body but he or she could do a better job of keeping the uper body down the fall line.
There is a video of olivia somebody around there on deb armstrong's Is channel that is really good to watch. She is an elite world class athlete who is still practicing these things on groomers.
You mean Olivia Giaccio of the US Ski Team. The Deb Armstrong videos are also good, but maybe oriented towards mogul survival, round turns, etc. Try Dan DiPiro's book (yes, in a world of videos....a by gawd book!) Everything the Instructors Never Told you About Mogul Skiing. There's a difference between mogul survival (me, when lucky) and skiing moguls well.
That's not it. Nowhere near edges. Just heel pushing. Omg!😝. One more reason to not utilize social media or RUclips. His stem is ridiculous!
