BOSE Soundlink Mini Not Working, Easy Reset

- If you your Bose Soundlink Mini is not working, there is an easy reset for this by holding down the mute button for 10 seconds. I've had this speaker for quite a while and it seems to be on its last leg.

Ok so I have the same speaker, it powers on but only when plugged in and instead of hearing a beep tone I hear 2 distinct crackling noises. When I connect my phone via Bluetooth I also hear 1 crackling noise, obviously it makes no audio sound on Bluetooth or Auxiliary and I am 100% sure the mute button is off. I've probably reset it 10 times now and I'm still left scratching my head. I can't afford to send it away for repairs and the warranty is up as of over a year ago now. If anyone has any tips to help me get this thing going again I would greatly appreciate it. It's been babied it's whole life and never abused in any way and it decided to just quit on me.
Such betrayal. I feel the same way with mine having all these steps to work correctly for a few unplugged minutes at a time. I will pin your comment to see if anyone can help you.

Same problem for the first time. When I play music (low volume), speaker just turn off in 10 seconds, everytime.

I tried it 3 times it didn’t work. I woke up to no sound coming from it. Previously, the worst problem I have had was that it wouldn’t link with my older iPads. Now it links great with my 18 month old iPad Pro. But when I turned it on today, there was no sound from the SoundLink mini. I’ll keep trying. Thank you for your help here. I never thought that someone would put something so useful here on RUclips for older devices. It’s nice.

@@RandomReviewsHowTos Thank you. It took me about 2 hours to find the problem. Unfortunately, I didn’t know if the fault was with the iPad or with the SoundLink Mini. After trying everything on the iPad that could cause the problem, I started looking around at the speaker. I had to find a new copy of the instructions with troubleshooting because an update had wiped out all of my electronics documents. Fortunately, it’s still available online for the Bose SoundLink mini. I believe there were 3 items on the troubleshooting list to try out. When I got to the third choice, the sound came back. Thank you again for putting these instructions on here. It was something very much like what you described that was causing the problem. Just a different button. If I hadn’t found your video, I don’t know if I could have stuck to it long enough to succeed.

Duuude. In my neighbourhood, people throw away so many valuable things like it's nothing. I found this speaker in a bag of other junk, I figured it probably was someone who isn't tech savvy. Took it, bought a new charger for it, used your reset instructions, and BOOM! I'm dancing around the room singing like a maniac! This speaker is fantastic! It's selling for £219 on amazon and someone just threw it out like that?? 😂
On my SoundLink Mini, Mute, Bluetooth and AUX LEDs were on. I tried this trick and my SoundLink Mini is back to normal. Thank you so much RRHT.

I have a Bose without a mute button. The middle button on my unit is a "Multifunction: controls playback and speakerphone". I did as per your video and it worked perfectly. Ten seconds later I'm listening to Spotify. Thank you!!!! Much appreciated!

For the Soundlink 2 u just press and hold the middle button with the 3 dots! Then after resetting if u like you press and hold the + & - volume buttons and u will turn off "Voice Promts".

This worked - I have this model and it was fully charged but after 3 minutes of use it would shut off and power light flashed orange. This corrected it. Thank you!

My device oddly kept the orange light on and the bluetooth white light kept blinking, I literally couldn't turn it off and it wouldn't also connect to any device. Holding the mute button worked like a charm.

I had this same problem just a few minutes ago. I use mine as my main sound source for my laptop computer and for whatever reason it just quit working. I followed the directions provided in this video and it did reset my speaker...however...I never could get it to reconnect with my laptop. I discovered that after resetting the speaker, my phones Bluetooth paired with the speaker before my laptop could. I went into my phone and disconnected the Bose speaker from Bluetooth and then a few seconds later my laptop was able to connect. Back to normal. Thank you for this video, you saved me from further frustration!

Also if your Sounlink 1 or 2 doesn't turn on after a few days and u know its charge, thats cause it has a build in Battery Saver mechanism that shuts off everything. You would think ur Soundlink just died and broke but all u do is reconnect any Micro USB with power for a second and the Soundlink will "reactivate".

From experience, this is a temporary reset, so it might happen again. Not sure if these batteries just go bad or get confused.

Yes! I get that too. Same reset works, but I still have issues with that. I think the battery is going dead. I have to charge constantly.
