Seems more like a mason bee home than ladybug but I still love it!
Could bee! Get it!
You must be a very kind person to take the time to make such a video. I really loved it, especially the little ladybug "buttons."
Thank you Jane 😊
I'm really pleased that you've spared a thought and some time to one of our greatest garden and greenhouse friends, nice one.
Thanks Keith
Awww, I love this!! I never knew ladybugs were also called "ladybirds". Learn something new everyday, thank you. 😊
Thanks Grace 😃 yea UK & USA differences
What a simple but excellent idea...I will be making one of these the weekend in the hope of attracting more ladybirds as they seem to be scarce this year
Thanks Anthony 👍 your welcome.
Better a Ladybird Hotel than a Ladyboy Motel
Indeed.
The world would be a better place if more people watched this video and made a ladybird hotel! Just so you know, I am going to make this hotel in Arizona in two weeks when I am there for my mother's organic garden! Thank you for posting this, Phill! xxx
Thanks Laura ☺️ I hope yours goes well and attracts lots of bugs!
@@PhillWyattProjects I promise to let you know. :-)
Very well done! 👍😊
Thank you very much!
This classic episode just popped up on my feed Phil! Never seen it before, an oldie but a goldie mate 👍
Cheers Andy 👍🏻 yea that was a while ago now actually time flies!
Love it! Thank you. Another mounting option is attach a long stake to the box and just stake it in your garden.
Thanks! Yes that sounds like a good option also 👍🏻
Very nice
Thanks
Great video, very informative and easy to follow. Many thanks for sharing

You can buy ladybird larvae?
@@SisterDogmata yes
@@fazedfairie Every day's a school day!
Great idea Phill and nice job, according to my wife I'm making one over the weekend .
Thanks Richard 👍 haha yea these seem to be quite popular at the moment.
Great little project, lets hope the ladybirds love it
Thanks Grumpy 👍👍👍 I can't say I have used one before so it's more of an experiment so fingers crossed 🤞

Hi Phil. What a great project. Did the ladybirds come?
Thanks! I haven't noticed any although I need to have a proper look yet.
Cool project Phill 😎
Cheers Karl👍 I saw those Coat Hooks you make with the metal Tap thingies they look cool I think I'll have a go at making some of those 👌
@@PhillWyattProjects ye they are smart arnt they mate.
@@karlpopewoodcraft they are indeed👍
Nice, looks great, did you get any residents?
Thanks! Yes I did 👍
How do you attract ladybugs to the shelter, I made one last year and was always empty.
Thanks!
Good question. I don't know actually 🤔
What a great idea.thanks.where is the best place to put it.
Thanks 👍🏻 on a fence or tree trunk should do fine.
Omg? You make it look so easy!
Thank you for the video....🐞
Thank you Lorena 🙂
👍👍👍
Thanks 👍🏻
Does it matter what size drill bit to use? Maybe some different sizes? Going to make one just like this! As am ordering some ladybird larvae to boost the low numbers in my garden, & control the aphids. DONT USE CHEMICALS ANYBODY!!
I would suggest drilling a selection of different sized holes as some bees are bigger than others 🐝
@@PhillWyattProjects thank you..good idea
Can the glue and paint .. little that was used.... be toxic? Does the wood have any chemicals?
I used plain wood no chemicals. The glue is water based wood glue. As far as I know i don't think it's harmful to bugs.
What size of drill bit did you use for the holes?
10mm Bit
Just wondering if any ladybugs ever moved in to the hotel... 🐞🐞🐞🏡
There were a few in there although it wasn't fully occupied
@@PhillWyattProjects Thank you for the update. I might give it a whirl... 🐞🌸🌸🌸
what size drill bit bit for the log holes please
Between 8-10mm
This is for ladybugs to nest / overwinter in? Will you find that other beneficials might also nest in the holes also?
Yes and yes it's possible that other bugs use the holes also.
Did it work?
Yes
So many of these diy n they never show if it ACTUALLY WORKS
It's difficult because if you wait for it to work then you might need to wait months before finishing the video. They do work though.
@@PhillWyattProjects side project then show actuall results.. not trying to be an ass or anything i know how hard it is to make content and edit and put up on a reg basis but with all the info about the Cons of these things and how they dont actually work makes u wonder why all these DIY never actually show viewers if the ACTUALLY work.. i would like to see one day one of these actually been used by insects.. goodluk.
This is what you get when someone sees a picture of something and thinks "I can make that" without having the knowledge of how its supposed to work or how ladybirds overwinter. You might get the odd solitary bee use it but as for ladybirds not a chance in hell.
It might be a good idea to share your knowledge of why it wouldn't work so that we can all learn.
It's lady bug
In England it's called a Ladybird 🐞
@@PhillWyattProjects Won't British scientists be embarrassed, when they find out that lowly Yank scientists discovered, that a "Ladybird" is in a fact an insect, and not a bird, before they did!
