NA WCQ attendee here. Was on Tenpai for the main event and these were my matchups: R1: 1-2 Fiendsmith Snake eye R2: 1-2 Fiendsmith Snake eye R3: 2-0 Fiendsmith Snake eye R4: 2-1 Fiendsmith Snake eye R5: 2-0 Fiendsmith Snake eye R6: 2-0 Fiendsmith Snake eye R7: 0-2 Fiendsmith Snake eye R8: 2-0 Adventure Horus PK Fiendsmith R9: 1-2 Fiendsmith Snake eye It was a fun event overall thanks to side events and my friends, but playing against FS-SE for literally 7 consecutive rounds made me want to take a break until they drop the banlist update. Having such bad luck to where it didn’t matter how bad or well I did and STILL go up against the same deck was just painful, especially when others I know had more diverse matchups. Also proud of my friend for tying against Chris LeBlanc in round 8 with Gimmick Puppet.
Easy thing, just stop playing till the end of August, let Konami bring the ban list and see what geht's hit. Let the toxic players by themselves so the list must hit them. Afterwards we can pick up the pieces and build going second board breaker decks and have at least a little fun again with the game. Btw, greet the evil twin from me 😁
On one hand there was a lot of fiendsmith, but on the other hand it was a good way to learn how to deal with the engine and how other players utilize the engine in different ways.
Only issue is: “did you open anything/enough to interact with them? Did you open enough to be able to build a board going second?” It was a rough event for sure
Josh Schmidt (paraphrasing): “Snake Eyes/Fiendsmith tough to beat, but not impossible. Just use your pet decks, and as long as it is well built, you always stand a chance” Very, very early days, but no truer words have been spoken. I can attest on top of this, because a few months ago, I top 3 locals with my Branded Witchcrafter. That Ancient Gear player is an absolute madlad. He was 5-0-1, so he was at the stage where all the “$hit decks” are gone.
Lots of people cheat one way or another. "Forgetting" locks or restrictions, using both effects when you can only use one and stacking the deck like a card magician would do. Even if it's more risky to do it in stream, during the rest of rounds it's a shitshow.
Konami gets their money from this. Konami gets their money from there. Gets their money from that. People need to make up their minds with their senseless arguments.
@Maximilian.Scholzyeah in reality the secondary market is what is making this game expensive not Konami. Konami is just being annoying by printing dumb cards
Odd, I watched a video on the worst hand traps in the game last night and one of the cards it mentioned said it was bad because it only really counters stuff like Porhibiton and Crossout Desiignator which according to that video rarely saw play. Dunno what that hand trap was, but maybe it can be Side Decks now since folks are playing Designator?
@@YourKingSkeletorYeah people should give Engraver of the Mark a go, I mean even if it doesn't win you the game it still has one of the funniest effects in the game where it can be applied. Fiend Comedian also can be hilarious but obviously way riskier.
Time to sit out this format and pray they have a massive banlist it was so boring to watch the only highlight was ancient golem , memento and ice barrier chads I was able to see and anyone who had the courage to play something different
Don’t forget. TCG Konami have confirmed a banlist next month. So don’t take too long of a break. But taking a break from a very competitive hobby is always a great idea. Except this one can change DRASTICALLY in the 1+ year(s) you head away.
Gimmick Puppets best deck let's GOOOOO! Also super budget if you don't play Horus! I told you! Only 2 BARERLY made it into top 64! The deck is perfectly fine altho it is a FTK! Ya'll need to CHILL! 😂
People are being dramatic about the prices, it's around $650 USD for Fiendsmith Snake-Eye going by TCGPlayer prices not including main deck/extra deck staples which most players have (Ash Blossom, Imperm, I:P, Apollousa, etc.) If you also include the price of S:P it's like $750 for the deck, well under $1000. It's cheaper to buy Fiendsmith Snake-Eye right now than it was to buy pure Snake-Eye when DIabellstar + WANTED were at peak price. In comparison Fiendsmith Yubel is almost the exact same price as Fiendsmith Snake-Eye (actually slightly more expensive).
That is why I have been strafing away from handtraps for the most part. Top decks are literally designed to be as resilient to handtraps as possible, therefore it is better to use them against Gimmick Puppet or Rogue decks, and resort to boardbreakers against the meta.
Except board breakers don't do so well against SE either. They don't do anything against tenpai. The format is in an interesting spot where handtraps.arent enough, and decks just float through board breakers
People who are saying this format is bad clearly don't remember when ariseheart was legal. THAT was bad, this is okay. If you can't break their board and push for game then that's on you
Kash board was extremely easy to beat if you draw the out. Kash was the last format where breakers we're actually good the deck is hated because they we're the embodiment of Anti fun gameplay but they weren't tier 0 at all
They'll hit beatrice most likely, and then hit snake eyes to the point fiendsmith is required to play it consistently to make the most money out of us... and the worst of all we'll be thanking them for that...
Sir, this is not OCG. Beatrice ban will kill Fiendsmith Snake-Eyes as we know it, because the sole reason we see it is because Beatrice can send any SE monster to the GY, and you can then Link off Beatrice and Sequence to make Promethean Princess. Without Beatrice, it would be used for like maybe Caesar or Ptolemy. And if Konami hits the right cards, like Flamberge, SE ceases to exist in the first place because of no free extension the dragon provides.
"Yubel isn't doing shit", meanwhile it's literally the best deck in the TCG right now. Fiendsmith also bridges directly into Yubel engine without Beatrice, which is 100% getting banned in August. Nats results are kinda irrelevant when every top player is on Fiendsmith Snake-Eye because they were on Snake-Eye pre-INFO and the deck has been tested for significantly longer. OCG doesn't have Necroquip Princess and Aerial Eater which SIGNIFICANTLY boost the Yubel deck. The format hasn't been solved, and Yubel has a way higher ceiling and access to insanely strong cards that Snake-Eye can't play. It also plays through Droll and Shifter better than Snake-Eye which are seeing play in every deck.

This might be the 1st time in yugioh History that one deck type is playable in any deck. That is fiendsmith

Great content, thanks for dedicating time in summarizing the event. Please keep making videos.
Game in shambles till August. Go ahead and support your locals folks.
Just one more month....
I remember Kotton and Joshua saying Muchummy is not crazy good. Whomp. The former was ill intented. The second one just out of practice.
Lol as if you've never gotten anything wrong in your life. 😂😂😂
Was it good?
It's not cary good though. It's heavily restricted by controlling no cards

The ancient gear didn't make the cut and SE dominated and fiendsmith was pair with everthing one random match doesn't make the deck fair
The dude with the hoddie always oppened whit 4 handtraps and the starter goin second and going first all yhe starters , how how ???

20 handtraps makes it so you have 90% to open them
Hate the format, everyone playing the same engine is so boring and we’re stuck with it for a long while so Komoney can get their $$$ out of it.
