Listening and being transported back to my junior school assembly in Dundee. Now 77 and with cancer this Will play as I make my last journey, its been a good life.
God bless you, my darling. I am so glad you too enjoy this beautiful piece of music. My brother was in a brass band and he said they always finished with this piece so everybody could join in. If you get to heaven before me, please say Hi to him. Sending love to you and you are in my prayers. xxx
Another of the great myriad of wonderful hymn tunes which have all but disappeared from church life and from the culture of the country in UK. We should try to revive them once more.
I grew up playing this in several corps bands. My Dad was an officer for over fifty years. Thank you for the powerful memories. Oh, just one more rehearsal with my Dad please
Just stunning. The first person to witness to me of the love of Christ, was a Salvationist euphonium player, by the name of Wendy Boon! I always associate this wonderful tune with her.

My favourite version of this hymn , which was written to commemorate the terrible pit disaster at Gresford Colliery in 1934 , where 266 men lost their lives . I don't think people , in today's ' victim society' , understand what ' victim ' really means .

Of course they don't. We have come a long way but we must never let people forget the sacrifices others have made so that we may live as we do.
It is sad however it does feel like the word is used far too frequently and not always in the correct situation
Totally different tune - Gresford
Was the hymn tune not called Gresford? I thought they were two different tunes.
Nothing like it!
